“Fantastic French cafe eats and coffee drinks. The setting is so Van Gogh. Perhaps it has views of the water from the unaccessible upper floors but it’s a quaint little place and is part of Monterey’s eclectic make-up. If you have a B’day coming up their French cakes are divine too.“

“Super friendly, cozy little family café. Really good lunches and breakfasts, staff is a father, daughter and son-in-law, all care about the place the food, and the customers. They treat everyone like family. The day I was there they were playing Christian rock the whole time, but somehow with the amount of love and kindness exhibited by the Cafe community, that it was not really my thing didn't bother me at all. It was still happy and friendly music. Good coffee, good food, clean restrooms, good wifi, excellent care of people.“

“Be careful... the food is good and the portions are huge!We went for Sunday Brunch and laughter floated through the air. It felt like everyone—patrons and staff—were having a great time. There's a big indoor and outdoor space, they're both gorgeous, and they have a coffee and cocktail bar to help pass the time while you wait for your table. We'd definitely come back.Vegetarian options: They have vegetarian sausage which I didn't have, but my partner did and said it was delicious.“

“One of the best cannolis I’ve ever had! Wish the filling was a wee bit more cheesy, but the shell was delicious, perfectly cooked, and didn’t taste like oil. Knocking one star because if there are more than a few guests inside, no one knows where to stand or order and the staff don’t help.“

“The food was good, and so was the White Chocolate Mochas, but there seemed to be a lot going on in the prep area, but not so much as in the dining (interior/exterior) area. Also pretty pricey for breakfast, two crepes & two White Chocolate Mochas was over $50.“

“I have been going here for a few years now. The cakes are absolutely delicious! We have a lot of March birthdays and our favorite flavor is the lemon cake with raspberry preserves. The owner is very kind and they always pull off any decoration that I want. Would recommend 10/10!!!“

“Fairly quick service considering the line on a weekday morning. Great desserts and coffee! Super cute place, on the smaller side. On the pricier side.Vegetarian options: All drinks are vegetarian, can be vegan with milk substitutes. Pastries also all vegetarian, just some food options with meat.Parking: 2 hours street parking on the street, paid parking lot next to it too.“

“Phenomenal sweets - wasn’t even in the mood and I got a cookie and financier and they were some of the best I’d ever had. Really aesthetically beautiful spot with a super pleasant service. Delicious food - soup and sandwiches were really really good and the portions were big. Understand the line to get in now!“

“Super fun, classy hotdog and shake joint, in a surf/skate shack styling w/ a really nice patio area. Great food; the "tangy slaw" was a masterful, coarse chopped, mixture of red and green cabbage. The house chili was very good...if I recall it was the "Reefs" dog. The shakes we tried were great; quite impressed with the blackberry and also by the sheer number of offerings. The place just has good vibes; very friendly staff and (regular) customers alike. ...I must have been too tired to notice Kimchi on the menu before ordering and was a little heartbroken (until next time) hearing that it can be added to any menu item.“

“Hands down my favorite coffee spot in the area. It's a small spot but they roast all of their own beans & also spotlight some local bakeries (reds donuts & Parker-Lusseau). If you want something slightly sweet try their Vietnamese iced coffee or add honey to your latte. Note this is not a spot you can work at or really hangout at other than at the standing high tops.“

“Was in town to celebrate Valentines Day Weekend on Point Lobos but we were staying in Marina Dunes. Was looking on Yelp to find a local breakfast spot and was fortunate enough to find this awesome Mom & Pop diner with a Filipino twist! The menu offered all the classic American breakfast favorites, but also a Filipino breakfast with a traditional assortment of meats served with the option of fried rice. The kids got the standard eggs, bacon, hash browns (or country potatoes) and pancakes which were great, and I had to go with the Filipino breakfast--and I'm so glad I did. Service was extremely friendly and spot on! We felt very well taken care of the whole meal. I'm wishing this family decades of success bc it looks like we found our go-to breakfast place when we're in town (we come here every year).“

“This was a fun find we stumbled upon. The donuts were super tasty and made to order. We had a blood orange, tangerine cardamom, and vanilla bean. They were all delicious, but blood orange was the best. Most fun though was watching them make our donuts and more at the window. Great fun for kids.Kid-friendliness: Watch donuts made while you wait!“

“Couldn’t give it a higher recommendation. Outstanding food and service. The sweet items on the menu are particularly exceptional [We had the French pancake and the basque cheesecake]. Struggled not to order everything on the menu and stay in town another night just to squeeze in another meal here.“

“Took a quick trip to Monterey this weekend, and I'm glad I got to try Captain + Stoker. I'm ashamed to admit, but I think I've become a coffee snob over the years. The flavor has to be just right -- not too bitter, dark, or acidic.I gravitate towards toasty flavor profiles, and the latte I had at C+S perfectly hit the spot. This is their smaller location (without seating), and we'll be checking out their larger one later today before we head out of Monterey! (Need to get it at least one more time before I leave)“

“East Village Cafe makes an amazing cup of coffee. The baristas are so nice and professional. The place itself has so much personality, so cozy and eclectic. The best part is, you don't have to wait in a crazy long line like at other coffee shops in the area. I definitely recommend this place if you are into amazing coffee and chill vibes.“

“Had the organic steel-cut oatmeal with strawberries and blueberries. Very well prepared on a cold morning. Also had the veggie quiche which was very good as well. Enough for two. Nice outdoor seating which is protected from rain, so our dog was happy too.“

“This is a snack bar next to a baseball field so set your expectations appropriately and prepare to be blown away. The burgers and fries are delicious and priced affordable, classic candy, snow cones, my kids and I love this place. Skip McDonalds and come here. There isn’t a lot of seating (it’s a snack bar, not a full blown restaurant), so grab one of the tables throughout the park, or bring a blanket and find somewhere to sit on the grass.“

“We had a wonderful experience. I run a coffee shop in Chicago so I know quality when I see it and this was it. The beans are roasted in house. The lattes were incredible. The kind gentleman who took our orders and made our drinks was so welcoming and honestly wanted our feedback. The shop is hidden down a beautiful little alley. Then to top it off, we completely spilled a latte and he remade it for free. I will definitely be coming back on my next visit. Thank you for the amazing service. We had the lavender fields latte, crème brûlée latte, and an iced coffee ☕️“

“Their spring menu had lavender drinks and I was in love with the Lavender Haze drink. YUMMM. Not too sweet and a good good-morning drink. Pastries were fresh (had the hot cross bun) and was the perfect complement to my warm drink. Plenty of parking, cute shopping center, and friendly/prompt staff.“

“I love this place! It’s in a beautiful, peaceful location, and the coffee drinks are always delicious. I was especially touched this morning, Easter Sunday, when the lovely barista made an adorable bunny in my latte foam. So cute I didn’t want to put a lid on it! ?“

“Was sick as a dog from the flu and was craving donuts. So ubereat a cinnamon donut and a glazed twist. Then I noticed they had a bagel sandwich too, so ordered a turkey avocado. It had so many layers of deliciousness, the bagel was crispy on the outside soft on the inside and literally cured me! I ate the donuts too fast to even get a photo, but they were so fresh, soft and the perfect amount of sweetness. Make sure you stop by Red's if you want the real deal!“

“We visited this cafe twice during our 4 days in Carmel Valley. This cafe was close to our hotel, and my husband needs his morning coffee/pastry so we checked this place out. And i'm glad we did because all of the pastries were delicious! We tried so many. The blueberry scone, blueberry muffin, lemon pound cake, coffee cake, chocolate chip walnut cookie, sugar brioche, and caprese sandwich. I never have high hopes when I try new places in the area, but this cafe was super cute and had great pastries. We bought a box of pastries to bring back with us. Looking forward to coming here often on our future trips.“

“Great place for a coffee or hot chocolate. I like their mushroom and spinach quiche. I often go on Fridays open mic nights. The place seems to also start having a band on Sunday late afternoons. It's great to have a place like this in our local community to relax in very comfortable sofas and meet local people.“
“I went in the store as I had not realize it was the owner who just walked out. I thought she was a customer but she decided to have us come in before she goes to the bank. I already decided what I wanted before going in but before I could I find the item, she handed us a sea salt caramel sample. I love how all the chocolates were in the box but wished there was an open box to see how they look like.“
“Beautiful outside patio, perfect for working on homework or reading a book. Workers were so kind and the drink was wonderful. Definitely recommend the Fogbreaker one of my favorite drinks from here! It is such a charming coffee shop located in a very convenient area!“

“Loved this place so much! It became my home base for the week I stayed in carmel. Cozy seating area with a fireplace. Lot's of locals and visitiors. I went back 3-4 times for the juices and smoothies - I had an work event I wanted to feel energized for and they had the best stuff. You can get tons of nutrients superfoods, add protein powder, peanut butter, ginger, caffeine shots added. Great healthy breakfast/lunch options too. One of the barrista's was very kind and friendly. Devinately will find my way back there in the future :)Parking: Found parking on the street nearby. Usually it's available - on busyier days you may need to walk a bit.“

“Great experience overall. First time trying a golden latte and I absolutely would recommend! The service was great but the atmosphere felt a little unfinished - dirty even. The person behind the counter was very sweet and I could tell he enjoyed what he did and making customers happy. If you're in the area, this is a great spot.“

“Stopped here to grab a hot cup of coffee before window shopping. Here’s what I liked:- the line moved quickly- there was plenty of space to stand inside while we waited.- there is a cute little indoor seating area but you need to be able to climb a couple of steps to get up to it.- some outdoor seating at small bistro tables- pastries were delicious! We tried the raspberry almond bar, pecan bar and lemon bar. All were incredible but the pecan ended up being the crowd favorite followed closely by the lemon bar.- coffee (vanilla latte and hot tea) were very tastyThings I would change:- I ordered my latte extra hot but it was barely beyond warm. I had to drink quickly before it got cold.- very limited street parking…can’t change that but I would if I could! LOL.“

“A Mixed Experience at Tidal Coffee: Scenic Views, Limited Menu Options, and Parking PredicamentsMy visit to Tidal Coffee left me with mixed feelings. Sunday at 10 am, I was met with a bustling atmosphere, indicating its popularity. However, disappointment struck when I discovered that many items from their menu were unavailable, with only three salted options amidst a sea of sweets.Despite the limited selection, the outdoor seating area boasted a picturesque ocean view and a charming water fountain, making it an enticing spot to enjoy a cup of coffee. However, the presence of persistent birds eyeing my meal added a challenge to the dining experience, but it’s ok I love birds.Additionally, parking proved to be a mixed bag. While the availability was decent, at $1.50 per hour at the meter, the ever-watchful ticket guy kept patrons on their toes, reminding us not to forget to pay.In summary, Tidal Coffee offers a scenic ambiance and a bustling atmosphere, but improvements are needed in menu availability, bird control, and parking convenience to fully enhance the customer experience.“

“Seen this place a couple of times and decided to try it. Line was out the door when we got here but service is quick. There are only 2 people that work here, from what I saw but they are polite and friendly. I got the sunrise and it was good.“

“To be clear, there is no food, it's just drinks. However I love the location, the ambiance, and said drinks. They put care into creating these recipes, and just as much care into making them. Service is wonderful, and the live music is great. Be prepared to put some money down for drinks, average price off happy hour for the drinks is in the neighborhood of 16 bucks. We spent about 80ish bucks for two drinks each between my wife and I.“
“Everything about this place was great the food, the service, and the vibe around the whole store. The only really confusing part is the bathroom. They have a code and one of the codes don't even work for the left door. Other then that though I recommend coming here.“
