Take a look at our favorite Discovery Bay Mexican restaurants.
“The best food on the island , the service & salsa Can not Be beat . The shrimp Fajitas are amazing, the owners always make us feel welcome and do not put restrictions on chips & salsa like The other place . no oil or greasy food here! Rice & guacamole, homemade salsa! Ruben's mole- the best I've ever had. We make our own requests for shrimp nachos and they have no problems filling it to make us happy. So sad to not have them on Monday. Ugh makes me appreciate Tuesday even more ! The chicken soup when you're feeling under the weather is a sure fire cure. I recommend this place #1“
“It's in the same parking lot as a gas station which made it nondescript upon arriving. There's a few waiting chairs inside and a table outside to sit. The restroom is a porter potty so not the most luxurious experience. Customer service was super friendly and quick! We only stumbled upon this place after exploring the trail at Clifton Court Forebay and wanted something close by. I had 0 expectations but wow!!!!! Ordered the beef tongue taco and menudo and got several types of salsa and the order came with a free bag of chips. The chips are my favorite kind to get at mexican restaurants. Super crunchy and tasted freshly made. The beef tongue taco looked small at first and the tortillas were very soggy but the tongue itself was so good!! I enjoy beef tongue but at restaurants sometimes they over season it or chop it too small but these were cut to the perfect size and just tasted high quality and really good. The menudo was honestly one of the best menudo's I have had. The broth was AMAZING, just a squeeze of lime and I could drink that broth all the time. The pig stuff seemed to be a mix of tripe and trotters/feet. Very simple soup but the pig organs were also chopped to a nice size. Sometimes restaurants put huge chunks which makes it hard to chew and eat. This tiny hole in the wall next to a gas station was definitely worth it. I am not even the biggest fan of mexican food but I would definitely come back!“
“Solid 4 stars. Closest you can get to an authentic Southern California taco shop. The carne asada burrito is huge. Meat quality seemed on par. Nachos were also massive and very good. Despite 5 people ahead of me, the food came out super quick. I would say I waited less than 10 minutes. Plenty of bench seating if you were to eat there. Note: cash only establishment“
“La Costa is one of the best and most delicious mexican food places around!! I remember when they used to be a taco stand and their food is as delicious as it has always been. We don't live in the area anymore, but we still come here any time we want some absolutely delicious mexican food. It's definitely worth the drive for us! Haven't been able to find any other mexican food place that compares to La Costa ?????“
“Los Charros is a beautiful restaurant that serves traditional Mexican cuisine bursting with flavor and delightful aromas. During a recent work event, a colleague had the idea of ordering a lavish spread of delicious dishes for the team. The order included an impressive variety of mouth-watering Mexican delicacies, such as 12 beef tacos, 12 cheese enchiladas, 12 beef enchiladas, chicken tacos, and a generous serving of rice and beans. The chips and salsa were the perfect accompaniment to this feast. Every bite of the food was a treat for the taste buds. The authenticity of the cuisine was evident, and the homemade enchilada sauce was particularly noteworthy. The perfect blend of tangy and spicy flavors added a unique and delicious touch to the meal. Los Charros is undoubtedly one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to, and I am eager to bring my family here to enjoy the delicious food. I am confident that this restaurant will continue to be a popular choice for Antioch School employees and anyone who appreciates authentic Mexican cuisine.“
“Best chile reyenos in the business of Puro Mexicano Plato! Las palomas 8 bucks are a come up as well. And I know this. Just told the wife we need to come more often. My daughters just ate the comp of chips and bean dip. They couldn't stop. Big time 5 stars and best Mexican restaurant hands down in the area!“
“A small but popular Mexican restaurant on the main drag through what must be called downtown Bethel Island.Breakfast choices were extensive at very reasonable prices, the most popular being 3 choices of items for $7.99 on a weekend. I personally had a delicious vegetarian omelet with fresh fruit for $12.99.Meal service took a little longer than one would have liked but the place was packed and we were a group of 8. When served, everyone was very satisfied and coffees were regularly topped off.A little gem and worth a visit.Vegetarian options: Try the veggy omelette.“
“The decor is authentic but, there weren't many people inside for there to be any real ambiance as we visited between lunch and dinner. That said, this place is a jewel. The food is excellent and, my server practically read my mind the entire time we were there. I made sure to tip extra. I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for a good Mexican food place. This has been my "go to" for years. The food is served very hot and promptly. Drinks constantly refreshed and, the cuisine (even though we don't order too much out of the ordinary) is prettyyyyyy to look at. This isn't some watered down fare, it's the real deal. I love that they use shredded chicken instead of chopped or cubed on the chicken tacos & chicken enchiladas. Even the chips and salsa are very good and refreshed quickly...no looking around wondering where your server is. I do not like experimenting when I'm hungry, you cannot go wrong at this place.“
“The food was pretty good and the prices are affordable, but I was highly impressed by their customer service. I mistakenly thought they forgot to include one of our orders. They were so friendly and professional handling the situation that I want to give them more business just because of how nice they were.“
“Service here is friendly and prompt. The room and it's appointments are colorful and fun. Lots of choices for food, if you like seafood, don't or are vegetarian. We enjoyed everything we ordered. I'm a big judge on Chile relleno and I was not disappointed. It's now part of our regular rotation“
“Very very yummy food. I've tried many of their items but my go to is the quesotacos.I try to come out when they are near especially when I can grab some after work, rain or shine! I have to get two just so I have leftovers later in the evening. :) one is enough but you'll regret not having more. The owners are amazingly friendly, always with a smile, and they will remember you! If you see their truck out at an event Go Go Go! You will not be disappointed!Dietary restrictions: I can't have cilantro and they always make my tacos without with no problems at all.“
“Always visit this location and employees make an effect to say hello and even remember your usual order. They make you feel like family which makes it pleasant, and of course, the food is phenomenal! The restaurant is always clean and enjoyable for dining in.“
“The crispy tacos were good. They come with refried beans in them, I wasn't expecting that, but it was good. I got the dinner which came with rice and . The food was very good, but a bit pricey. The cost was $13. I have gotten crispy ? dinners for $8-$10.“
“100% recommend this restaurant!! My first visit was tonight with my daughter who has been here before. I was impressed with the owner who was so gracious and friendly as our waitress. Food was amazing. The place was so cute & clean inside.!! I hope everyone gives this Mexican Restaurant a try! You won't be disappointed!!“
“Excellent food!Very reasonable prices!I ate quesabirria , fish , and shrimp tacos! Very delicious! I recommend the habanero salsa if you can handle some spice! Owner gave me slasa to take home ! We were also treated to a little desert as well! Very good people here!“
“The food is delicious. The workers are efficient and nice. The parking is plentiful. The bathrooms are accessible.Straight to the point.I ordered Asada Fries with everything and the best part is the presentation. They put little mexican flag toothpicks. The vexillology nerd in me is going crazy.“
“This place is super cool! The drinks were great. They had a wide selection of draft and canned beers. I really appreciate that they also have a coffee bar and agua frescas. The option to order from a full menu of taqueria classics in addition to a bar snacks menu is legit. The atmosphere was amazing, a great little live music venue, and the sound was on point, too.“
“BOMBA QUESABIRRIA TACOS!Crunchy, juicy, cheesy, and pickly goodness! The tacos come with the consommé, chips, salsas and limes. The taco shells are made to order. Pretty presentation as well. One solo taco filled me up! Now I'm sad it took me this long to come here. Will need to make up for it! This is my new go to taco spot!“
“Vegan Menu Available! Solid spot for vegans to get a change in food and an actual sit down for a mexican restaurant. Cripsy potato Tacos, Veggie and bean tacos, Rice and Whoel Beans all vegan!. Very Customer service oriented. Highly recommend to try this spot out.“
“This taco place is actually a little mini taco truck outside of a business. I'm not sure if they are ever going to move into the building that they are parked next to but currently they are cooking tacos on a little mini trailer. They make tacos, tortoise And burritos I believe. There is a small seating area that is located outside. The husband does the cooking and the wife takes the money and adds the condiments, such as radishes, cilantro, lime, and whatever other condiments that they have there. I didn't have any interaction with the husband, but the wife was very pleasant. There was not a walk a long wait for my tacos either. Tacos are three dollars each and they have several meats to choose from. I chose the chicken and I was not disappointed by the amount of meat or condiments in my tacos. I have to admit this is the first time I've ever got tacos that were steaming hot. It was really nice to eat it when I did because it was very cold outside. This taco place is somewhat basic, not extravagant, but the food is incredibly tasty. If you're looking for something to eat quickly and you don't wanna do fast food, this is where you go. Quick hot food at a decent price.“
“This Mexican Restaurant is completely underrated and should have 5 stars. The waitstaff always remembers us, serves us quality food and drinks, and is always prompt. If you haven't been here, do yourself a favor and go now!!! We have tried many around the areas and this is the one!“
“Great food/great service... Cannot be a $2 taco on taco Tuesday!!!!And to whoever posted the bad review about them having a horrible margarita... They don't serve margaritas, so you commented on the wrong business... they are in the same building as the Brentwood Emporium Bar?? Actually not sure what it's called but they serve a margarita that is wine-based not tequila-based... so maybe that's where you got the margarita from??“
“Damn Good! I got the al pastor tacos, and let me say just delicious, fresh, juicy, and amazing. Excellent flavor by them self and with the fresh salsa choices they had available. It's definitely worth the stop to enjoy some good quality made food. ???“
