“Toro Viejo staff are always welcoming, and you can tell the owner genuinely cares about the customers. The food is delicious and authentic, with some of the bestflavored meat I’ve had. You can really taste the quality in every bite.

They always remember my order, regular tacos with queso, which makes every visit even better. Don’t forget to grab both the green and red salsa. They’re too good to miss!

Very approachable menu, with something for everyone; even my kid who is allergic to everything, and my vegetarian/pescatarian wife are able to enjoy. Very reasonably priced across the board. “Definitely time for an update on my 2020 review. We have been back several times since our initial visit six years ago, and they must have really been having a bad night on our original trip. The food since then has been good, the prices fair, and the service has been excellent. We live close, so we almost always order for pick up, but the place looks nice and the folks eating in always seem to be enjoying themselves. I have to chalk it up to I caught them on a bad night. “I’m a revert Mexican. I usually give reviews based off a revert point of view since most halal Mexican food is terrible when viewed in the eyes of a non-Muslim Mexican. This time, either way this is good authentic Cali-Mex food.

There is haram products that they sell, the chicken and beef is halal. The chicken and beef tacos tasted and smelled authentic. The tortillas looked good, and tasted good. They weren’t covered in a thin film of fat or oil, if they were covered in the small film of oil or fat but make it halal then it would make it better.

The topping selections are slightly more than what you would get in a traditional taco stand. Do wish they had a guacamole based salsa option.

One thing I do wish this place had was giving you a few slices of caramelized onions that were on the grill, as that sweet and crunchy flavor of a caramelized onion just makes a taco so much better.

Overall, this place is a gem for Muslims, especially reverts. I wish I could say the only place you’ll find better halal tacos is in Mexico, but no known halal taco shops in Mexico so this is the best place you’ll find halal tacos.“

“Nena’s Restaurant is excellent! We hired them to cater a party, and choosing their taco truck was one of the best decisions we made. They provided all-you-can-eat tacos for three hours, and our guests couldn’t stop talking about how delicious the food was.

The service was outstanding from start to finish. They supplied all the plates and cutlery, making the event completely hassle-free, and we were even able to keep the leftover food afterward.

“The last time I visited with my service dog in the patio I was asked to leave. I explained he is my service animal and the waitress kept asking me if he was emotional support. I said no he’s my service animal. She said oh you have a medical problem…. Yes he’s my serve animal. Of course she had to honor him being there with me but we waited for two more tables to get sat and served drinks. Still no order taken. Drinks took 19 min and food even longer mean while other being served at appropriate timing. This lady has waited on me for over a decade and is friendly but this is unacceptable. Boss man talk to your staff bc next time I will report you. Talking with community it’s not a favorite of many but I like the food. There’s plenty of mexi restaurants in the area. Just saying. I need my service animal with me at all times. What don’t they get?!!“

“When you ask for zero sugar make sure they know that you're allergic to high fructose corn syrup if you are because sometimes they get in a hurry and just hand you whatever but if you tell them that you really can't have it they will make sure you don't get it and they have more zero sugar options than most of the other restaurants as far as Beverages and and their food usually doesn't have it in there maybe one sauce does out of all of them but most of them are safe for people with diabetes or allergies that are sensitive to sugar“

“Placed a large mobile order here. Everything was prepared correctly and on time. The only issue experienced was they did not have the drink I ordered. When I asked if thst portion of the ticket, there was some confusion on if it was possible but the cashier and supervisor got it figured out. Overall, a very good experience.“

I think because of that when I asked the employee for assistance and for the bathroom code she was slightly rude with her response. The food came out in a timely fashion and was hot.“
