“Prepare yourself for an intimate and personal culinary journey at this Omakase haven in our college town. From the moment you step in, the cozy ambiance wraps around you like a warm embrace, setting the stage for an unforgettable dining experience. The chef, a true master of the art of omakase, takes the reins of your gastronomic adventure. As each exquisite piece is expertly crafted and presented, you can't help but feel a personal connection to the culinary magic happening before your eyes. The chef's passion for their craft is apparent, creating an immersive experience where you feel a part of the sushi culture. Seated at the intimate sushi counter, you're not just a diner; you're an honored guest. The chef carefully curates each course based on your preferences and reactions, turning the meal into a personalized expression of culinary art. It's a conversation between you and the chef, a silent understanding conveyed through the language of meticulously prepared dishes. The pace of the meal allows for genuine connection. You're not rushed; instead, you savor each moment, appreciating the textures, flavors, and stories behind every bite. The staff's attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm enhance the feeling that you're not just enjoying a meal, but sharing in a unique and personal experience. In this intimate setting, the boundaries between chef and diner blur, creating an atmosphere where the love for sushi and the joy of sharing it with others take center stage. Whether you're a seasoned sushi connoisseur or a newcomer to omakase, this place transforms a meal into a cherished memory, making every visit a celebration of the personal and the profound. This gem is one that must be treasured and appreciated. The chef not only takes to heart his customers but the environment as well- choosing eco-friendly and sustainable fishing practices to make your dining experience guilt free. This is a chef truly passionate about his art. I will forever be a patron of this establishment- encouraging this type of connection and mindfulness for the environment is what Davis is all about. I hope they are here for years to come.“

“I used to come to this restaurant in the mid '00s, and it changed both name and ownership at some point between then and now. Perhaps I'm having a bit of nostalgia fogging, but it seems the quality declined somewhat the change. However, Nami is still a perfectly serviceable mid-range sushi restaurant even if they are no longer a hidden top-tier gem the way I remember them having been in 2005. Their sashimi continues to be decent, as do their bento boxes. They rolled out an AYCE menu at some point as well, but I haven't tried this as I tend to be skeptical of AYCE anywhere. The lunch service tends to run a bit slow even when the place is nearly empty, which I find mildly frustrating when I'm in a hustle to get back to work. The staff does seem to have some difficulty with English (they speak Cantonese as their primary language), which has made for difficulties in recent visits (explaining that I was not in fact ordering AYCE), but I have since become somewhat of a regular so they remember my preferences, which is a nice touch. I wouldn't call this a destination restaurant, but I appreciate it for its convenience and its prices which I find to be far more reasonable than many other Japanese restaurants in Davis. All in all, a good mix of quality, convenience, and cost -- a good lunchtime choice for folks who live and/or work in East Davis.“

“This is hands-down my favorite sushi spot in Davis. It's the perfect combination of being incredibly tasty and genuinely affordable, which is hard to find. Highly recommend the summer Roll, Panda roll and veggie crunchy. Truly a gem of Davis!“

“Not bad for all you can eat sushi in the area, gets pretty busy on the weekends. There are a lot of options from different types of sashimi and rolls, but there can be a wait depending on how busy they are. They are accommodating to large groups, and their flexible pricing for children is nice. Overall recommend and this is a place we enjoy coming back to for sushi in Vacaville.“

“Hidden Gem!!
What an ABSOLUTE Suprise, every bite was divine. The best sushi in vacaville hands down.
Ordered garlic edamame, Gyoza to start. Followed by the Deep Fried California Roll, The Dynamite, volcano, lion king, 49er, & the scallion Roll. All the rolls but one (49er with lemon slices) was fried or baked. All cooked to perfection, no soy sauce needed. Each was like an explosion of amazing taste in your mouth.
Staff was no where near rude like other reviewers. It was quiet, well cleaned and they cook with passion. We were checked on adequately & drinks never went empty.
Very affordable and perfect for family night or date night even.
Thank you for such a divine taste experience!!!“

“Zumapoke is my favorite poke place in town, by far! Always fresh and delicious, and leaves me full and happy every time. I would eat here every day if I could!“

“Buddy, let me tell you! By far one of the best places I have been to in years. Let me start by saying our server Tara (I think that's how you spell it), was the best server I have encountered in decades. Decades my friend! Sushi was absolutely amazing! The skewer thing was a big hit and everyone loved the pot stickers. The fact that Hisui hit 5-stars in the food, service, and atmosphere criteria should tell you it's great. To the management, give Tara a raise! Employees like her are part of the winning combination of why people will return. I loved it all!
*Note: sadly, I left my phone in the car for this family meal so I didn't get pictures. It was all beautifully presented though and looked delish!“

“We came in on a Friday around 1:30pm for lunch as my wife wanted Ramen and she has not been to Cherry Blossom before. My son and I came when they first opened a few years back. I never really came back because the food was just mediocre to me. We came here for ramen so my wife can try it and they are closer to my house.
Food (3.5/5 stars):
- Ramen: both the Tonkatsu and the Black Garlic Ramen both had tasty broth, but I had better elsewhere. They did have a decent variety of toppings compared to the other ramen place in town. The medium boiled egg was just that. The other place in town gives a soy sauce roasted egg which is much tastier. Overall, their ramen is good and recommended.
- Bento Box: both bento boxes we got was just fair. The portions are decent for the chicken katsu with tempura, but the teriyaki chicken with the CA roll was a little chintzy (only 4 small pieces of CA roll. Other places give 6 pieces). The CA roll was nothing to write home about, just bland. The dipping sauce for the chicken katsu was just ok, could be more flavorful. The miso soup that came with the bento boxes could be more flavorful, but decent and had some tofu and seaweed. The salad dressing was a sesame based dressing and was pretty good, but could benefit from a little bit more.
- Ika Geso (deep fried squid tentacles): flavorful batter, crispy and not too thick. The dipping sauce was just a basic sriracha mayo, so nothing impressive. I chose to just eat it without dipping in the sauce.
Service/Ambiance (4.5/5 stars): the wait staff were very attentive and the food came out quickly. A little after 2pm, they came by all the tables to announce the last call for the kitchen as they close at 2:30pm and reopen at 4:30pm Monday-Saturday. It's not a big place, so it is best for parties of 2-4 people, but they can accommodate a slightly larger party at the back of the restaurant.
Overall, great service, I would come back for the ramen, but there are better places for bento boxes (only chicken here, no beef or pork) in town. I did not try their sushi, (only the CA roll that came with my bento), so I cannot comment on that.“

“If you want your money’s worth this is the place. The other reviews are correct, the portions are generous and the employees are extremely kind! Pork Katsu was super crisp, sushi was fresh, tempura tasty and not too oily. They mainly do takeout orders so don’t expect the most handsome dine-in experience, it’s very casual. I would 100% recommend to anyone looking for a simple sushi spot, it did not disappoint.“

“So generous and delicious!
The rolls were huge, I’ve never seen anything like it.
I was amazed by the generous portions, surprised again by the rich flavors, and truly impressed by the kind and attentive service.
There was so much food that I ended up taking the leftovers home and they easily covered dinner, too.
I just have to say, this place is the best! Highly recommend!“
