“Excellent shaved Ice. This is the only shaved ice that I've ever eaten that actually tastes like Ice cream. It's incredibly delicious and worth the visit. I recommend their mango melon. It's perfection. Strawberry one is great too if you like Strawberries. It is a small place and finding a place to sit inside will be challenging and uncomfortable if you get claustrophobic in a small busy space. I suggest take out. Also, parking is an issue but that's pretty much Pasadena for you. Otherwise, I strongly recommend it.“

If you are not fond of sweet tastes, be sure to avoid ordering the Stir-fried Tomatoes with Eggs. Even on weekdays, the restaurant is bustling with diners. They also offer an extensive selection of beverages, and you can enjoy a dessert after your meal.“

“Major props to Los Alpes Ice Cream. I get nostalgic every time I come here. I have been visiting since I was a kid and the memories I have from this place are all great. The quality is just as good today as it was back then. I literally met my best friend here over 30 years ago and the interior still looks exactly the same.

I love coming here every chance time permits when I am visiting Los Angeles. It is one of those places that brings me right back and it never disappoints.

The flavor selection is amazing. Even though I usually keep it simple with cookies and cream, I have a hard time resisting the mamey and nuez every single time. Their ice creams are packed with ingredients. Cookies and cream is loaded with actual cookies and the nuez has that perfect nutty richness in every bite.

The staff and owner are always attentive, friendly, and genuinely pleasant. This place is a true Los Angeles institution. It still surprises me how many people do not know about this gem. If you have never been, do yourself a favor and check it out. You will see why it has been around for decades.“

“I was a JA kid in the 80s and 90s. After CYC basketball games and Tamiya Mini 4WD races, my family would head to the third floor of Yaohan and enjoy the great flavors of Hana-Ichimonme. “Pretty good bingsu! Not the best I've had but not bad either. We had the hojicha flavor and it was refreshing. The almond croissant was nothing special though, kind of tasted like it had been sitting there for a while so I don't recommend it. Probably stick with the bingsu and drinks.“

“I didn’t have high hope because most shaved ice places don’t have the right texture but this place had both texture and flavor. Soft pillowy snowy shaved ice with refreshing fruit flavors like guava and passion fruit and rich deep flavors that included Thai tea and pandan. Adding this to my must go to list. Reasonably priced too, which is rare these days. 5+ stars!!“

“Refreshing Korean shaved ice with fruits. (Not to be confused with Hawaiian shaved ice.) The price tag appears a little steep for ice at first glance, but it is more substantial in content and presentation, so it is not as bad in the end. A better price point would be a dollar less.“

“Taiyaki is bomb and a great deal and I would give them 5 stars just for that. Usually just get the cheese. Service is also amazing, the shop owner is super sweet and once asked if I wanted a plastic bags to put all my things I was carrying. She won me over from that but we do frequent this place often just for the taiyaki. Bingsu is good on a hot day as well. Every time I'm at the mall my wife makes me come here to get taiyaki. Very simple and well made.“

“The restaurant on the third floor that used to have mariachi shows is boarded up and closed. They been closed since the Covid shutdown. Everything else is open. There is still plenty of food and small booths selling leather goods, makeup, piñatas, traditional Mexican dresses and shirts, and lots more.“

“When I first got there it was kinda dirty on the outside but I think it had to do with the teens outside. The workers were nice and it was quick. My favorite part was everything felt homemade. She gave us our prices on a calculator and we payed through her phone. She asked if we wanted ice cream in a box and it was a cut out Oreo box. Some people may not like this but it felt like they used what they could easily access. Also the ice creams were good. My picky sister who only wanted McDonald’s enjoyed it. I am writing this on the way back in traffic because the road was shut down and we can’t leave. Supposed to give my brother ice cream but it will probally be melted when I have back home late.“

“This place is not called el Piquin Mexican Grill anymore. it’s called Taqueria La Fogata and since they have changed owners. the food has been so much better and more delicious than ever before. everything on the menu is great especially their chicken that they specialize in. every type of food from breakfast lunch and dinner. “Came here for an Orange juice, Also got a ham and turkey sandwhich and the lady gave me a free bag of chips woth thw order. From my experience everything was really good and id go back. The orange juice was not watered down it was fresh and had a good taste to it. The sandwhich was also really good. Customer service was good and the lady was really nice and friendly.“
