“The Food was Really good, the closest I've found to the food in Hawaii. I'm so glad we stopped to get food from here. A little pricey but it was worth it. I just wish it wasn't so far from where I live. Love the food and would definitely recommend it!“

“Overall, the food was not bad, but it wasn’t quite as flavorful as I was hoping for. I got the kalua pork and expected it to have more flavor, but some parts were pretty plain. There were a few fatty pieces that had good flavor, but aside from those, it felt like it was missing something. The BBQ chicken was pretty much the same — decent, but it lacked those flavorful bites I was looking for.
I did really like the macaroni salad, though. My wife got the chicken katsu and shrimp katsu, and those were FIRE! 🔥 They were crispy, flavorful, and probably the highlight of the meal.
I’d definitely go back, but next time I’d like to try some of the other dishes. There’s enough here that I think it’s worth giving another shot.“

“Located near the sdsu campus, this location is accessible to students and community members alike. The food was fresh and the katsu had a delectable crutch that left a good taste in my mouth. The cashier was a kind soul that made our L & L experience one that we’ll never forget.“

“I come here pretty often and love the flavors, but as a salmon lover I am begging you guys to cut all the fat off the salmon poke. I will get a plate with just the salmon shoyu and spicy salmon, and most pieces have a half an inch thick of rubbery, gross, unchewable fat. The best plate I had here was ironically when the owner was present. Please cut your salmon“

“Overall very good and satisfying. I got the Korean chicken, macaroni salad and pork fried rice.

Chicken and Marconi was amazing to the point. Personally wanted the fried rice to be a less oily/wet but it was still delicious.

“A fave, fast, & family-friendly restaurant!! The food is delish & the portion sizes are huge!! The Katsu Chicken with a side of macaroni & a side of rice is my go-to!! My fam loves the ribs, bbq mix plate, & the spam musubi!! I love their huge assortment of Hawaiian canned drinks, too!! So thankful for leftovers for my lunch tomorrow!!“

“Overall, this La Mesa location it’s not too bad. It’s pretty good. The barbecue beef again. This is a college area and yet this one in La Mesa beats the one located in La Jolla so something‘s going on over in the expensive area where they’re cheating the value or the quality where you have El Cajon and now here in La Mesa much better quality service is pretty good in the atmosphere. It’s it’s giving me that Hawaiian vibe a little bit so watch out expensive living areas you gotta pick up your game and stop being cheap.“

“I don't know of anything this side of Hawaii like this food. Alwats a treat. Waiting area is a bit hot and stuffy do I takw out. My only complaint is the online ordering platform is loke Mussion Incompoorehensible. I chose National City and in the end it presents stores across the entire country to choose from. Seriouly??? What are you thinking??The choices of gravy katsu sauce(is there a difference?) Rice and god knows what made mo sense at all after already choosing the plate I wanted. This once again is a function of corporate managers that dont test/proofread their scripts. The food is excellent and unique.“

“We had my dad’s retirement party here at JJ’s Island Grindz and our host was Ellis I cannot speak highly enough on the service he provided for us it will be unmatched. He treated us like family, very attentive, very respectful, on time with everything very professional. I just want to thank him and his crew for providing excellent customer service love and care to our family and friends. The food was amazing the drinks were delicious and had a great presentation.
