“I was heading to Parkway Plaza but missed the exit, and luckily came across L&L Hawaiian BBQ. It was perfect because I had been craving spam musubi! I ordered the Spam Musubi for $6, BBQ Chicken for $15.95, Katsu Musubi for $5.45, and a Hawaiian Sun Mango Orange for $3.35. The place was cozy and ideal for a late brunch. The staff at the front desk were friendly, and the food was delicious! I especially loved the katsu, and the cold juice was perfect after being out in the heat.“

“Went there today! Ordered the #6 Samoan corn beef which it wasn’t more like Libby’s can brand! Can tell your difference. It was so dry and little to no onions. So disappointing.. ordered 3 containers of poke and it was all packed in a flimsy, cheap plastic bag. It broke underneath the bag grabbing it from the handle picking it up from the car floor. Thankfully and luckily the containers of poke didn’t open, that smell would not have been great at all! The poke was great closest thing we have here in SD compared to back home in Hawaii. Would not recommend the #6 but poke yes!“

“Located near the sdsu campus, this location is accessible to students and community members alike. The food was fresh and the katsu had a delectable crutch that left a good taste in my mouth. The cashier was a kind soul that made our L & L experience one that we’ll never forget.“

“I’d say their Kalbi and Korean chicken were delicious. For traditional Loco Moco the patty needed more seasoning and the gravy was too plain for my me. Chicken katsu had a good breading and wasn’t dry so it passed my taste. Overall, it’s a good first time experience and the staffs were helpful, had a good product knowledge, and friendly. If anything to improve I think is the gravy, I’m looking for a rich and flavorful one.“

“I think they are going through staffing changes, closing at strange times, but when they are open, the food is great and the staff are friendly and attentive enough that you don't feel neglected. Kalua pork hands down great, might be too fatty for some, but amazing. The mac salad is out of this world and I get a double scoop! Poke nachos also amazing choice and we have stopped by here just for the lemonades to go. Amazing value and better than any drink around! (Get the mango pomegranate!)“

“hearty food run by the nicest mom and pop. the rice bowl was delicious, $6-7 for a solid portion of bbq chicken with rice and broccoli, and half the price of like anything in kearny mesa. takes a bit to walk to the food court from the parking lot but it is so worth it.“

“I go to L&L BBQ in Santee often. I love their katsu chicken with the curry. Also like their Moco loco. I don't normally stay there because there's not that many shares and the TV's very loud. I normally just go and wait for my food and leave. The service is good. Everyone seems to be very nice. I definitely recommend eating there. If you're in that plaza that's probably the best place to eat right there in that area. What I like the most about it is that it's the only Hawaiian place around that area so it's unique.

“Loved it! Went earlier today and I ordered an iced latte and 6 pack of filled malasadas. My coffee was great, far better than other coffee shops I’ve tried in National City, and was made surprisingly quick. The malasadas were warm and fresh, but some of the fillings were a little too artificial to my liking. Service was also great, the young girl at the front definitely gave off that Aloha vibe, and guided me through the menu as I was a little confused at first. Got my malasadas within 15 minutes, would recommend.“

“Former Maui resident here. Nice place to pick up Spam Musubi! Not much ambience though. Service was just okay. Food came fast. Glad to have a place close by when I’m wanting Hawaiian. Not as good as local food in Hawaii though, but still glad to have it. You should really lower your prices for the Hawaiian Sun fruit drinks. They’re crazy high to charge when I can buy them at Ralph’s. I think it was a 100% mark up. These are inflationary times. Hawaiian food is salty. If the drinks are cheaper, people might order more food and appreciate you more for not price gouging. Something to consider?“
“I found Juanbachi at the Rancho Santa Fe farmers market and all I can say is OMG they are so AMAZING!!“
“Located inside the food hub. Let me tell you I ordered the shrimp plate (north shore butter garlic) they offer, I believe 3 different shrimp plates. BUT north shore butter garlic was fuegoooo! ?? Sooo yummy literally reminded me of Giovanni’s shrimp truck on north shore! I will continue to come back and buy this plate. The Mac salad I feel is the best Mac salad In SD & trust I’ve eaten at a lot of plate lunch spots (seasoned good, not too much mayo, nice and cold.) The cashier who helped me was so polite , they ran out of lemons and she apologized for that and offered me limes (which I don’t mind at all, I actually prefer limes over Lemons.) The plate had so much food on it I ended up splitting it with my husband. He said “ it’s very simple & just like the shrimp from the north shore.”He also said ask for extra garlic paste/sauce on the rice (if you can) he enjoyed that little touch with the furikake too. Anyways it’s a cute little spot. Definitely recommend. Oh when you go , not during lunch rush or dinner, the hub has a lot of seating. Incase this is your first time going don’t worry if it’s crowded the food places inside give you a little buzzer so when your food is ready it beeps to let you know so you don’t have to actually stand by the booth that you order at and you can walk around to see what other places offer as well or take a seat while you wait.“

“Just visited the PIFA festival and stopped by the L&L Hawaiian Barbecue pop-up— the food was incredible!
We tried a bit of everything: the barbecue chicken (super crispy and fresh), the chicken katsu (perfectly crisp), and the pork (so juicy). The mac salad and rice on the side were also amazing! Also, still thinking of the musubi because it was that good!!! :)
Everyone working the pop-up was so friendly and helpful. It felt like stepping into someone’s kitchen, with all the love and passion coming through in the food. Such an amazing experience overall, and it was a huge success. Thanks so much guys, can’t wait to visit the restaurant in person! :)“

“Best Hawaiian BBQ I’ve ever had. They give you a decent amount of food so the prices are fair valued. And on top of that the food is delicious and packed with flavor. Also had a good customer service experience. Definitely recommend this place to anyone that is looking for some great food.“
