“Updated Review! I had to come back and add an updated review to this restaurant. I was in Fresno again for a work trip and this time my team and I were looking for a dinner place due to a last minute mishap with a previous dinner reservation. So I immediately called Umi Sushi, told them about our situation, and they agreed to help us out! We were a group of 15! They were very accommodating and very friendly. The food and drinks came out in a timely manner. Everyone loved their food.

For a small restaurant, the handled their rush really well. Was in town for a conference. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food...oh my gawd the food... Fresh and delicious! The chef made me fresh wasabi too!“

“O-iza is a treat from beginning to end, with a gorgeous ambiance, fabulous food with beautiful presentation, and caring service. All the details are thoughtful, from the rose water hand towels to the chopstick holders to the candles and light fixtures... You feel special just being in this beautiful space and being presented with such lovely plated dishes!
Our server, Alice, was fantastic! She guided us through the menu and made several suggestions, which were fabulous. We ended up ordering the waygu gyoza appetizer, which has such a nice texture and savory flavor. We also got the sea bass entree, which is served over a bed of risotto and oh man! This was so fantastic! Comfort food and cooked to perfection! We also got the salmon spoons from the sushi menu, also the servers recommendation, and these were a party in your mouth! Bright and fresh! Also, complimentary edemame is provided with your meal and it is the best! There's sugar and a little spice on it so its just so addinctingly yummy! Finally, we had to try the chocolate sesame desert, which had a great combination of flavors and textures!
Overall, we had the best experience and loved the service, food, and ambiance of O-IZA and can't wait to come back to try more!“

“Very delicious, all good service from the entrance, there was no problem in the place, everything was perfect, it was a special day and this stop was unexpected, but it was still an excellent option when I am back in Fresno, I will surely return“

“Swicyaki chicken bowl is awesome. Chicken was fresh and juicy. I would swear it came off the BBQ with little crispy bits.....If you're looking for a yummy bowl. TRY THE SWICYAKI CHICKEN BOWL!!

“I ordered the Bul-Go-Gi and Pork Katsu Lunch Combo. The meal also comes with rice, Miso Soup, a salad with what I think is a Ginger Sauce Dressing. The meal was tasty with the Bul-Go-Gi mixed with vegetables, Mushrooms, zucchini, carrots , broccoli, onions, and green onions. The Pork Katsu was good as well.
Service was good with the servers stopping by several times to check on my meal and for soda refills.

“Great place for authentic Japanese cuisine! I got the Chicken Katsu Bento box and for $20 ish you get ALOT of food like way more than $20 normally gets you now a days. The ower is a great man running the restaurant mainly by himself and he deserves your patronage. I hope he gets a better location one day because I firmly believe the only reason he's not always busy with line stretching out the door is due to the area. I can't wait to go again and try the other sushi rolls and alcohol he has to offer“

The food was very good & portions were generous. Service fell just short of great as we never really knew who our server was. There were also no prices ever listed on a menu for nigiri.“

“The cook John was great. He was engaging and funny instead of going through the motions like some cooks do. Food was great too. Not a complaint just a suggestion, the waitress could have been a little more personable and enthusiastic. She wasn't bad but not great, very quiet and didn't say your welcome when thanking her. Other that good visit and will request John.“

We ordered La Torre and Dragon sushi and WOW DELICIOUS! GREAT PRICES for the delicious fresh food you received. If you like something slightly spicy order the Dragon sushi. It’s a small place (not much room) to eat but the food and service is great! Rosario the host/register she’s awesome, very friendly and nice, she attends your needs, very patient, explains every very good, Rosario does everything possible to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. Osvaldo the cook was very nice as well and the food he prepares is delicious and very well presented. Great food, great service and great prices. A must go to place“

“Experience was amazing, loving customer service. I would recommend the dumplings because it has a good combination with the soy sauce and it has a crunch from the bottom being fried up. So so good! The miso soup has a home welcoming taste, it makes you feel welcomed and at home, I personally love that feeling. Would definitely go again. The calamari rings were crunchy and fresh. If you want to try something new this is your place to go!“
