About Sakae Sushi

Sakae Sushi is a popular take-out sushi restaurant known for its simple and tasty menu. The restaurant offers a platter option that can feed 3-4 people for around $40. Customers praise the friendly staff and the convenience of ordering over the phone. There is a small parking lot available, and the restaurant is cash-only and take-out only. It has been a local favorite for over 50 years, with the owner and chef maintaining high-quality, flavorful sushi. Even refrigerated rice remains soft and delicious, making the sushi special.

The restaurant is highly appreciated for its excellent vegetarian options, including an off-menu avocado, spinach, and veggie roll that customers describe as "amazing" and "giant." Other vegetarian rolls are also available. Customers recommend calling ahead to place orders, especially on busy weekends. Service is described as "lovely," and the food is considered a "steal," with dishes like the mackerel (saba) and 10-piece mix being popular choices.

Many customers mention the beautifully wrapped sushi boxes for takeout and the great value. One customer enjoyed grabbing sushi before a Dodgers game, which contributed to their win, showing how perfect it is for quick meals before events. Others have noted that the limited menu means it's best to call ahead to ensure availability, especially for items like tamago-maki that can sell out quickly. The sushi is known for its large pieces and succulent flavors in each bite, with high-quality packaging making it ideal for takeout. Overall, Sakae Sushi remains a hidden gem for delicious, affordable sushi.
