“What a hidden gem! I stopped by this little strip mall spot in Pinole not expecting much—and ended up having one of the best falafel and chicken plates I’ve had in a while.
The falafel? Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and clearly just made. None of that dry hockey puck nonsense. And the chicken was juicy, flavorful, and grilled to perfection—not the sad, dry chunks you sometimes get at these places.
Portion size was just right—enough to fill me up without needing a nap afterward. And the price? Let’s just say my wallet didn’t cry.
The staff was super friendly, too. You can tell they care about the food they’re putting out. If you’re in the area and craving something fresh, hearty, and delicious, don’t sleep on this spot. Strip mall or not, this place delivers.“

“This place is perfect for halal grub food - the owner was incredibly kind and offered us a slice to try while we waited for what we ordered. The food was phenomenal. Service was phenomenal. Also noticed that they have Lucuma / egg fruit ice cream that I cannot wait to try next time!“

“Incredibly nice people, and great food. Got the Chicken on the Sticks and I can definitely tell why they are known for this. It’s incredibly delicious and I’ll definitely be eating here again. Also great pricing and a good variety of choices, but not too many where you get lost in their selection.“
“Simurg Bakery provides great baklava to the ones missing a professional taste in USA. Go for it!“

“Wow a Wine- Bar with 1920’s ambience!
A truly amazing discovery of the hidden jewel of boring Solano..
I got their special wine, not from the menu, and it was mind blowing.
They have live music and entertainment on weekends!
Local regulars are amazingly friendly folks, and don’t forget to ask what is chef special on Thursdays. We will be back !“

“This has needed an update for years and let's begin. 6/10/2025
Recently I've took my sister here as we're both trying to avoid foods cooked with a lot of oil like Chinese food. She's a chef and has been in the business for over 40 years and spent the last 6 years as a chef and was managing food trucks in North Carolina. A long distance from her Napa gourmet restaurant roots. Tonight she ordered the lamb souvlaki. I ordered a small chicken shawarma wrap and lentil soup. The chicken shawarma was perfect. Just be warned, it is with pita bread so it's a bit messy of a handheld eat. But what the heck. It was absolutely delicious. The chicken was perfectly cooked as it was quite tender. Nicely caramelized onions inside. Loved the lentil soup. It had a nice helping of lentils, not just a few little bits floating around as you see in some places.
Which now brings me to the lamb souvlaki. Now my doctor insists that I don't eat too much meat and I totally agree. However, I could have eaten this for a week. It was some of the best lamb I have tasted in years, maybe over 20 years. Tasted fresh, it was perfectly tender, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Not over salted, thank God which is something a lot of restaurants do with meat, especially grilled meat or meat. kebobs.
My sister was very impressed and pretty much polished off the whole thing.
She noted that there were no salt and pepper shakers which she totally appreciated because it meant that the cook knew exactly what he or she was doing. I did take that last bit of her grilled zucchini, which in itself was quite delicious.
This was the second time I took her.
Last time I had the falafel shawarma wrap and I recommend that as well. I got the large one and it was quite substantial.
Sister may have had the chicken souvlaki I don't remember.
Just noted down below that I did my first review 6 years ago. I have since returned multiple times quite often bringing family because it's not too crowded, the food is really good and the prices are very reasonable. They do a reasonable amount of takeout which is probably why there aren't as many occupied tables as before.

Nice greek food, but the french fries. OMG.... sorry short on details as this was a month or two ago. Will return.“

“Great food, fast efficient service, reasonable price. I had the large lamb gyro at a decent price and it was nicely seasoned, full of fresh lettuce tomato cucumber and onion, and had great tzatziki. They offered hot sauce which I took and it was a great optional addition for me as a spice lover. While waiting I drank free water from a dispenser on the counter and enjoyed the fact that these folks are running a small and quick cafe with authentic food, and not pretending to be my fake friend with effusive over the top “service”. Highly recommended if you enjoy good food and don’t require “the help” to supplicate to you.“

“I enjoyed the falafel wrap sandwich. The bread was soft and fresh. The vegetables were fresh and crisp. The falafel was kind of different. Like chickpea French fries. The service was friendly and helpful. The ambiance needs some work. Otherwise, it's a nice new place in my neighborhood!“
