“Just wanted to try something new. Haven't noticed this place, but read some positive reviews when it popped up on my search in this app. Figured I would give it a try. Ordered from a nice young lady, I'm assuming it's a family business. Family business is always the best start for good food. Grabbed some carne asada tacos. Reached under the foil to sneak a piece of asad. Knew I was in for something fantastic. After finishing the first taco, I could confirm that the tender, perfectly seasoned sneak peak I had of the asada was absolutely accurate through the meal. Everything tasted and looked fresh and delicious. The price was also right. I did wind up spending $22 on myself, but I got 5 tacos and this horchata is massive lol. So happy I tried this place. My wife and I will absolutely be back! Unfortunately, she had just eaten. So she was only along for the ride lol.“

“First time trying it out on a recommendation from a few people.
They do have a decent salsa bar (cabbage salsa is the superior salsa 🤤) which was a highlight of one of the recommendations.

The food left a little to be desired, I got the two item combo the tamale was very tasty, the red sauce had a good kick but it didn't linger or take away from the flavor. The sope however was a little lack-luster. I got it with pastor, which was not like any pastor I've ever had so that was disappointing. The masa was tough and flavorless. I love that they use romaine and not just iceberg but it was missing that crunch. Points for the rice and beans, though, they were very flavorful!
My husband got the taco salad, and it was pitiful, huge shell barely half way filled up. He was also bummed at the pastor.
He also said the shell tasted like dish soap😬

Overall- more positives than negatives and I'd definitely come back to try other stuff. I saw other plates that people in our group ordered and I was definitely intrigued!

“Listen, I am picky when it comes to Mexican food. My grandma‘s set the bar high. And there are two specific dishes that I always order at a new restaurant, and that is Caldo de Res and Chile Rellenos…these are basic dishes but I’m beyond snobby when it comes to them. If they mess these up then I will never go back. Lupita’s Homestyle Cocina exceeded my expectations. The chile relleno was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. Lupitas only cooks caldo de res on Thursdays and it just so happened to be a Thursday when I ordered. The Caldo de Res tasted like home. I know she used the beef bones to make the broth because you can taste the oils. It was cooked to perfection with big chopped vegetables and nice sized chunks of beef. We also ordered the pick 3 and got Chile relleno, chicken enchilada, and a chicken chimichanga. It came with a nice sized helping of beans and rice. I got a monster burrito with beef and it was no joke! HUGE burrito and it had everything I wanted in a burrito (beef, whole beans, rice, cheese, guacamole, and pico de gallo. The sour cream was on the side and it was served with your choice of red or green sauce over it. Bomb. I got a flan for desert and oh my goodness. I seriously didn’t expect much because the food was good enough. But dang, that flan was spectacular. The perfect consistency and the Carmel top of the flan was so creamy and smooth. It didn’t have that burnt taste that a lot of flans have. All in all, I was impressed by every dish. I would say that the refried beans were a bit salty, but the Mexican rice more than made up for that. I took time to write this because it deserves praise and hopefully gains more business as its location is tucked away behind the KFC on Oakdale road.“

“I'm literally obsessed with this place. I found out about it on Tiktok. I'm from Turlock so anytime I'm in Modesto I make sure to go. I always get their chicken family pack and it comes with beans, rice, macaroni salad, and lots of corn tortillas. I also get their pork ribs with bbq and omg it's the best! They grill their meat outside so when you pull into the parking lot you could see and smell it. I always take it to go, and they're very fast with your orders and friendly customer service. They have nice seating inside too with big flat screen TV's. Honestly guys I'm Mexican and have tried a lot of places but this place is definitely a hidden gem. A little hole in the wall 🩷“

“The quality took me back 10+ years. I have not tasted this legitimate quality of burrito and tacos in over a decade. Between the Bay Area, the Southern part of the Central Valley to the Modesto area. It's been over 10 years, and the best Burrito still REMAINS on 8th Street!

The burrito flavor sent chills down my spine, anchoring me to past memories to when quality was worth your money. Customer service I received was also top tier with positive, helpful, and cheerful attitude.

Stopped by in the morning which typically has some homeless strolling around which was typical years ago and apparently seems to have not changed. I'll have to return at night to see if the vibe is still there.

Really enjoyed coming back to this taco truck. Prices are definitely reasonable and when accompanied with my favorite part, coming here is non-negotiable for my family moving forward, even if it takes us driving across town.“

“Great location for people coming home to Delhi or traveling down Hwy 99. Very easy to find by taking the Shanks Rd exit. Food is good, service is fast. They forgot part of our order, so we went back. They were apologetic and gave us even more food than the one thing they forgot. They were great at making the customer happy! “Stepping inside this place felt like going back in time and I mean that in a good way. It looks like it hasn’t been renovated since it opened in 1988 but overall it’s a warm, classic look. Our hostess/server turned out to be Petra, one of the owners. She was very nice and attentive. She was quick to bring our drinks, chips and salsa. Unfortunately the salsa was probably the low point of the meal. It appears that they use canned tomatoes for their salsa. Overall the flavor is fine, there’s only a hint of spice but a fresh tomato salsa would be much better. On the opposite end of the spectrum was the food which was very good. I had two cheese enchiladas and a chile relleno combo plate. The enchiladas were great; the sauce was very flavorful with the perfect amount of smokiness. They had a good defined texture too, well made. The chile relleno was also great, the sauce was creamy, almost like a suiza sauce or something. It was a nice change from the standard red or green sauce usually paired with chile rellenos. My father had a wet chile verde burrito and he loved it. If they replaced the salsa with something fresh it would say 5 stars for sure but let’s be real; chips and salsa are one of the best parts of eating at a Mexican restaurant. Despite that I’ll definitely be back and I’m excited to try other things from the menu.“

“I really don't want to write this review because i know what will happen so here is my story...I passed this taco truck on my way to pick up vax for my cattle at Lander's Veterinary Clinic a week ago. I was curious about the taco truck and asked the folx working at the vet clinic if they recommended the truck's food. They raved about it. Since I had cash I made the decision to stop on my way back home to buy some tacos and put them to the test...I'm kinda of a food snob.Here is what I ordered: (2) carne asada tacos, (2) al pastor, (1) lengua taco, and a (1) tripas taco to try out. I doubted they could do better than the taco places I grew up by in L.A..OMG! Shut the Front Door!!The tacos were so good that on my way back home to Oakdale, I ate most of the tacos. My husband is lucky he had two tacos leftover for his dinner. These were even better than any tacos I've had in SoCal!!It gets busy during lunch time so take a longer lunchbreak or get there early. I'm heading back soon and taking my boss and a few colleagues with me.Cash only business. Covered benches, no bathrooms, bring your baby wipes if you eat there.“
