“I have been going to Porto's since the 1980's..the one in Glendale. How elated I was with having them being in Northridge where I live. The food is terrific and the lines go fast due to a tremendous quick system they have. The catering for parties has never let us down and people you have invited that never have experienced Portos are thrilled. The cakes are delicious. What I do miss is not having the individual cake slices for purchase so you can experience the taste. They only have the neapolitan, Parisian, and carrot for slices. I've seen the menu change over time and do miss some of the items.“

“My absolute new favorite restaurant! We were visiting family in LA from Chicago and they took us here, I ended up going three times in my one week visit. Cheese stuffed zaatar and the sojouk kachopuri were my favorite and the garlic chicken wrap was my husbands. Honestly everything we had was delicious and the kids kept asking for the pepperoni pizza and mini pizzas.“

“Inside, there is only room to order food and buy bread. Their cinnamon roll is pretty good, but served cold. Their everything cookie is delicious. There is ample seating outdoors for brunch, and servers are nice. The breakfast sandwich is good, and their standouts are shakshuka (absolutely delicious!) and the chai latte. Their vanilla latte is also well bodied and just sweet enough.“

“I decided to eat here with my family for breakfast after the first day of Hanukkah and the owners communiciated with me that it will be around 35-45 minute wait for food due to high number of customers ordering on site and online. Sat outside but decided to walk inside to order latte's and bake goods meanwhile. Inside is DEVINE. It was full of customers waiting to buy the Chanukah donuts (seasonal only, I was told) and we ended up taking to our table all 14 flavors of delicious mouthful. and took another 12 special assorted flavors to go to gift to our family friend. Time went by quickly shared with my good company and inside this family-oriented environment. Everybody was working hard, and the food was worth the anticipation. My family and I walked out pleased and impressed by their quality. We will all be coming back in again.“

This isn't a critique, but more of a recommendation for anyone considering a visit: if you love super-sweet desserts, this is the place for you. My son ordered Joojeh Kabsb, which was juicy and flavorful, served with a side of rice. I ordered Abgoosht, and I loved how fresh and well-seasoned it was. It reminded me my childhood traditional abgoosht places in Tehran.

The prices were reasonable, and the portions were just right. Overall, Vanak is a great spot for a quick and tasty meal. I’ll definitely be back.“

“This is a weird review. Belwood is great - nice, quick, and classic baked goods (especially the chocolate muffin!), but that’s not what this review is about.

Belwood’s smoothies are SO good. Kreation is nearby and doesn’t even compare to Belwood’s smoothies. The strawberry banana is my go to (a classic), but mango and other flavors are so delicious too. They also offer a wide variety of mix ins (protein powder, etc.). I would STRONGLY recommend getting a smoothie with your next morning muffin!“

“I come by here at least once a week, the bread and pastries are baked fresh daily and the workers always treat you like family. It doesn't look like much from outside but it's my go-to local bakery. I would highly recommend the jalapeno bread with creme cheese, but come early because they run out often by noon.“

“As much as I miss Maude, the Pie Room is a lovely hole-in-the-wall serving delicious dinner plates and pastries. We came for an early dinner, hoping to treat ourselves to a few main dishes and a pie.

What was a nice surprise was even though the chicken leg wasn’t available that day, we were the first to be served a fried chicken dish that the chefs were trying out. We also ordered the steak frites and the beef pie.

All the dishes were excellent, the sauce au poivre and homemade ketchup were amazing dips for the fries, the chicken breading left nothing else to be desired, and the smooth and juicy beef pastry filling made us wonder how the pie crust still held up perfectly flaky and buttery. A few notes: the chicken’s breading was amazingly crunchy, but a few parts surrounding the larger piece could do with less breading, and we wished the steak was larger. But nevertheless, an amazing meal.

Happy hour wines were delicious as well.“

We had so much confidence in their abilities that we picked up the cake for our son’s 30th birthday party in Santa Monica and drove it 100 miles to San Diego. We decided on Red Velvet cake for our son’s cake flavor. The cake is decorated with our son’s name, “Timothy,” in its Greek form, “Timotheus”. The party, costumes and cake were all a major success.

Parking: You must pay for parking on Santa Monica Blvd and the side streets. It’s recommended that you come early to pick up your cake in order to secure parking that is convenient for carrying the cake to your car.“
