This intimate dining experience is a testament to ingredient-driven, technique-forward cooking, where flavors are both restrained, unpretentious, and deeply expressive. From the first bite, it was clear that Heritage excels at layering textures and flavors in unexpected ways. The meal began with an Amuse Bouche trio: a delicate prawn cracker topped with sweet Dungeness crab, a green leaf with another seafood salad that was to be eaten like a mini street taco, and balanced with the brightness and light crunch of pickled turnip. A seemingly simple couple of bites, but one that foreshadowed the precision and thoughtfulness of the courses to follow. To cleanse the palate, a mint tea infused with palo santo was served—a meditative interlude that was both refreshing and aromatic, setting the stage for the evening’s journey. The first official course, Crème Caviar, featured Russian Sturgeon Heritage Caviar and chive, a chilled preparation that was rich yet elegantly restrained. This was followed by Kanpachi Crudo, presented with carrot, ginger, and macédoine vegetables, offering a balance of clean ocean flavors against bright, vegetal undertones. Then came what I consider the star of the evening: a dish that fully captured the ethos of Heritage—Hen of the Woods Mushroom, topped in a “sunchoke stew” (crispy fried sunchoke) with fermented mushroom. For an additional $25, an indulgent shaving of black truffle took the dish to another level, transforming it into a sensory experience that evoked the deep, earthy satisfaction of foraging. The interplay of umami-rich elements made this course a masterpiece of textural and flavor contrast. The proteins that followed were executed with equal care. We indulged in a variety of items, including almond croissant, cinnamon croissant, chicken sandwich, eclair, cream cheese guava strudels, chicken croquettes, spinach puff pastry, biscuits, chicken empanadas, and wheat bread.

The biscuits were a standout, filled with gooey caramel and chocolate. The eclair was a melt-in-your-mouth masterpiece. Every bite was a blissful experience, thanks to the freshly baked, warm pastries.

“Food here is outstanding! We picked our food to go for an impromptu picnic at the park and enjoyed eveything. The carbonara was a knock out, very rich and decadent. All the pastries were yum, but the morning bun was our favorite. And the sandwiches are so well constructed with bread that was obviously baked fresh.

Only thing ill say is the patio is not good for large parties so if you intend to dine in, the seating there it ideal for parties of 2 or 4.“

“I live two blocks away and this bakery has single-handedly destroyed my self-control in the BEST way possible. The brownie bites (pandan, strawberry, ube-Oreo) are life-changing. I buy a box thinking “I’ll save some for later” and then 45 minutes later they’re gone and I’m happier than I’ve ever been.
These brownies are pure joy. Serotonin in dessert form. When they closed for a week after the holidays, I experienced real emotional damage.

I would take a master class, but honestly it’s safer for society if I don’t learn because I would simply become a brownie.

Also the iced vanilla oatmeal cookie? Elite. Legendary. The bomb dot com.

“It was our first time at L'Opera and I'd say the experience was excellent. The staff are very friendly from the time you walk in, up to the time you leave. The food is delicious. My daughter had the rack of lamb. I had the filet mignon. Plus their homemade ravioli, minestrone soup and tri color salad. I wanted to try their dessert too but were so full from the rich meal we had that we don't have any more room left for it. We will definitely come back and bring friends with us next time.“

“My husband and I had sweet traders provide a small cutting cake and dessert station for our wedding of 160+ guests. Working with them was extremely simple and the desserts were amazing! We did a quick cake tasting to pick our small cake and were able to taste some of the desserts for our dessert station. They had a ton of options, so it was hard to narrow it down because they were all so good! I received so many compliments about the dessert on our wedding day and they portioned everything really well. We even had some left overs which we were able to share with family and bring home after the wedding! We were also able to rent a cake stand, dessert stands and were are so glad we did because the arrangements were beautifully displayed and we didn’t even have to think about it on our wedding day. Sweet Traders even includes an anniversary cake and we are so looking forward to it next year! I couldn’t recommend Sweet Traders more and know that you will be in the best hands. If you have allergies I would probably not go to this place. Based on my experience with other restaurants at Knotts, they do not take food allergies very seriously.“
