I Hate Cake—But This One Changed My Mind

I’ve spent years dodging birthday slices, declining dessert menus, and side-eyeing frosting like it owed me money. Not even as a kid did I like cake. Cake and I? Not friends. Everything i got to try was great, but then came this ube and coconut cake and OMG!!!!

It didn’t just taste good—it rewrote my dessert beliefs. Moist without being mushy, sweet without the sugar assault, and layered like a symphony. The texture? A velvet rebellion. The flavor? A sermon in indulgence. I didn’t just eat it—Im forever converted. Thank you!!“

“I have been to the 2 Little Tokyo locations and this one is definitely the winner! there’s a huge variety of pastries and things to eat for a quick bite (you might probably have to eat it standing or elsewhere during the weekends since it gets pretty packed and there’s just 3 tables!) but the steamed buns were good!, the matcha mochi wasn’t too sweet so it was perfect, the almond croissant was fine but their specialty is definitely on other pastries! will definitely come back again to try more stuff.“

“Was almost lost when trying to find the outlet since it's located in a plaza that might not be visible if you're by the road side. Worry not about parking at the plaza since they apparently validated parking (yep! plus point for sure).

The gorgeously designed outlet only served grab and go since there's no seating on the spot. There were some outdoor benches at the center of the plaza though if you just couldn't wait to enjoy the goodies.

They offered bunch of sweets from Canele, Madeleine, Financier, Cookies, Cheesecake, and more; all of which did come in multiple flavors. So yeah, be prepared to be indecisive in front of the showcase. They were super helpful though in assisting you making your choices by recommending the favorite ones. It was nice that the price was decent enough for LA standard, so you could definitely opt for more than one or a couple.

For my initial visit, I started with the Ube Financier, which was kept in the chiller, maybe due to the cream on top. It came in spongy yet not too airy texture with luscious ube cream topping. It was decent, but not really my top choice. My second was their Earl Grey Milk Chocolate Tigre, which was basically buttery cake kinda similar to financier IMO, with milk chocolate ganache at the center. I definitely loved this more than the financier, especially the combo of earl grey and milk chocolate which to my surprise was awesome and helped balancing the taste to be not overly sweet. Another one I tried was their thick salted chocolate chip cookies, which decadently had crispy edge though I wish being more gooey inside as it's tad dry. Nonetheless, flavor wise I felt like classic chocolate chip with a sprinkle of sea salt indeed never failed. The creme de la creme, however, was certainly their canele which I was beyond thrilled to finally find in LA. I had my favorite one in London which I thought unbeatable, and it's impressive that LA now had something comparable to satisfy the craving without having to fly over 5K miles away. It flawlessly had that crispy coating, moist center, and just the right sweetness level. I surely made the right choice going with matcha as Brown Bag definitely elevated the overall taste with this matcha flavor and that matcha cream top. It was no brainer that their canele is NEVER TO BE MISSED if you ever paid Brown Bag a visit.“

“I arrived at Paris Baguette and was able to park in the parking lot which they offer valet service for a small fee. This place was great because they have a variety of pastries, sandwiches coffees and much more. Everything was freshly made and made perfectly. We tried the Harvest Chicken Salad Sandwich it’s delicious. The pastries we tried were excellent and the brewed coffee and cappuccino are good also. “A few months ago, I was in Paris Baguette at Wilshire and Wester. I purchase coffee and pastries. Because of the customers behind me, I rushed to move away for the next customer. After leaving the store, I realized I had lost my bundle of cash wrapped in a napkin. I rushed back to the store and asked staff members if anyone had turned in my money. One of the staff, MARI, heard me and asked me what I had lost. I described it and she went back to get my money. I am 67 yrs old. This meant so much to me. Thank you MARI and God bless you 🙏“

“I went to go pick up a too good to go order and they had such a variety of things to try and all their pastries tasted so fresh and so good, the cafe itself was so pretty and spacious it gave pastry store but with a cafe. Outside seating and inside seating too, waited too long for service there was no one in the front to take order but ambiance and taste of pastries made up for it.“

“Cute Temptation”

I once wondered what the difference was between cupcakes and muffins.
A muffin is a cupcake-shaped cake, and cupcakes are always decorated with sweet icing on top. So cupcakes can create artistic and diverse beauties.

Most of America's famous cupcakes have their own unique characteristics. It is loved for its beauty. Of course, taste is also important (in fact, famous restaurants have very good taste).

Sprinkles is the most famous cupcake brand in the LA area. In addition to the Grove Mall branch here, you can find it at Beverly Grove, Downtown LA, and Glendale Americana Mall.
What's interesting is that you can sometimes see this house's cupcake vending machine... It's a really novel idea, and it might be fun to find it in Beverly Hills and try it out.

The circle decoration that is the symbol of this house is very pretty.
Unlike other cupcakes, it has a cute concept, so it has the magic of making you want to adopt a puppy and take it home haha.

Like most American cupcakes, they are very sweet.
It may be too much for those who are sensitive to sweet tastes, but when you eat it, you will feel the combination of American sweetness and soft cake sheet. I tried red velvet and s’mores...
I liked the softness of the red velvet, which was of a higher standard than any other restaurant in Korea (strangely, red velvet in Korea doesn't live up to its name haha, it should be as soft as velvet...), and the s'mores had the taste of marshmallows in the cake, just like making real s'mores. The hidden bitterness of the dark chocolate balances the taste.
