“We finally visited the sacred birthplace of "Californian Cuisine"! We were at the cafe which is lively and beautiful. The dishes are refreshing, on the lighter side. The use of citrus in salad and even the meyer lemons bits in the sauce topping on chicken brighten the whole meal. The dish that hit me the most though is the personal size chocolate cake. You need to order in advance with $25 price tag but it is worth trying. You can taste the quality right there! Next time we would like to come trying the full experience for a special occasion :)“
“The hardest thing about Burdell is that you can't eat everything in one sitting but you really want to. Tonight was our first time dining here, and we are already looking forward to going back. My husband and I started with cocktails and they were absolutely delicious. Then we had the chicken liver and waffles and we all but licked the plate. For dinner I had the fried petrale sole and my husband had the pork neck. We also couldn't resist getting the whipped potatoes, which were everything you want potatoes to be. We both loved our entrees and stole bites from each other. Very flavorful, very lovely presentation, and nice portions. For dessert we shared the chocolate puddin and it was also excellent. We were well taken care of by all of the staff and got some lovely drink recommendations that paired well with each course. We really enjoyed this dining experience and look forward to returning. We would like to do the family dinner with beverage pairing next. Love this place!“

They were also great at checking for my allergens, even during a busy time. I ordered the smoked bbq sandwich and loved every bite. Their food is proof that this spot carefully selects their ingredients and doesn’t compromise on flavor. My vegan friend ordered the pyrgi and swapped the chicken for tofu. Our only regret is not trying the abundance of desserts they had out!“

We were here for a birthday and they even gave us a birthday treat for the celebrant (MORE churro waffles! 2 pcs) What impressed me most was how efficient the staff ran this place! The line was super long - but don't be intimidated. The line is to place your order at a counter, then you take your order number and find a seat. The staff was helpful in getting us sat. Third, once you come into the restaurant, (you may have to wait in a line) the hostess will ask you for your name and phone number, if you want to be seated outside or inside, and how long the wait time is (about 20 minutes). Lastly, you should definitely consider coming to Jack's if you're feeling hungry! (They serve breakfast until 2:00pm and lunch all day.) I usually get the chicken or pork shoulder mixed bowl because I like the mix of greens and grains in the bowl. She brought out two samples of wine for me to try and waited until I made my decision. I appreciated this. I would recommend if it’s your first time, the Empanada Sampler of all 4. I would have naturally leaned towards the Cheese with Avocado sauce or the Vegetarian but to my surprise loved the Beef with Rocoto Aioli best. For dinner I had the Organic Quinoa Chopped Salad with chicken. It has romaine, radish, green beans, tomatoes, onions, corn, cilantro, avocado, lime vinaigrette and I loved it! I will be back just for this salad. The flavors were light and the chicken was perfect. It didn’t feel like too much which left room for dessert. My partner had the Shredded Chicken Stew, with slow cooked chicken breast simmered in a mild yellow pepper sauce, with hard boiled egg, Peruvian olive, walnuts and parmesan cheese, served with rice. He liked it and felt it was an authentic dish but would probably try something different next time. Dessert, the bread pudding was wonderful. Pineapple and coconut served with bourbon caramel sauce and whipped cream. If you enjoy these flavors I would recommend this! We will definitely be back!“

“We tried their brunch menu and was not disappointed. We ordered from the most friendly staff at the window the Andouille Shrimp and Grits which had creamy cheddar grits, the breakfast sandwich with home style fried potatoes, Banana Bread Louise which is banana bread french toast with Bananas Foster topping and a Grains in Purgatory bowl which had farrow. Roasted vegetables and two sunny side up eggs topped with chili crisp. I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful the Grains in Purgatory was considering it was mostly vegetarian except for the eggs. It has the right amount of spice and the farrow had a nice bite. The breakfast sandwich had scrambled egg and thickly sliced bacon and arugula, the home fries that came on the side were perfectly seasoned and crispy. Those potatoes were the bomb! The gravy on the shrimp and grits was a little too salty for me but those creamy cheddar grits were so rich and smooth. Get the Banana Bread Louise to share for dessert! It's amazing! I look forward to trying items on their lunch menu especially the jerk salmon“

There's not that many places like this in Northern California because everyone's at the main burger corporation spots. I got the mushroom burger with all the basic toppings on it and I will say, that they cooked this burger exactly how I would eat it, if I were to make it at home. You do have to order the fries and onion rings on the side, but they do offer specials that come with fries or onion rings, but I wanted to actually try one of the burgers on the menu and it did not disappoint at all. I honestly murdered my burger within seconds once I took a bite - LOL. Yes call me hungry! Fries were cooked perfectly and the onion rings come with ranch. No need to ask, because they already have it with it - LOL. Those that love eating ranch with everything knows what I mean. Service is a 10, food is a 10 and the vibe is a 10! Both come with ample toppings, provide a decent variety of choices, and never disappoint. To be clear, this is not a fancy, gourmet pizza place, nor does it pretend to be. The verdict - it's perfect for what it aims to be, a locally owned pizzeria with no frills and good pizza. On occasion, we have tried other, non-pizza options on the menu. For example, the burger and fish and chips. In general, these are okay at best (2.5 stars). I'm not factoring this into my overall rating as this is a pizzeria and, at that, they are solid. We will be back.“
