“We have been here twice - both times for lunch. The sandwiches - especially the sand dab and calamari sandwiches - are outstanding. The restaurant itself is pretty basic - order at the counter and they bring you food in a bag out to you in the courtyards or to the tables inside. I cannot overstate how delicious the sandwiches - the toasted sourdough bread, sauce, pickle and very generous amount of seafood - makes them hugely satisfying and almost more than you can eat. Can't really speak for the other food, but it is probably great too. Ambience is very straightforward and no time or money is wasted on pretty-ing it up. But that adds to the charm Be advised - there are no bathroom facilities. (Although I was allowed to wash my hands in a sink near the door! I appreciated that.)“

“First time visit. Beautiful place, for that special someone, or your entire family. Fancy. Loved the decor. We decided to try a bit of everything and went for carnitas tacos, pizza and a cheeseburger. We all loved our food, and tasted a bit of what we all had ordered. The food was exceptional. The pizza crust was delicious, toppings tasted fresh, and it had honey on it. A first for me, and I loved it. I went with the Monterrey beer, and it was great! We had the churros for dessert. They were amazing. They were nice and hot, crispy, and smelled great. Isaiah was our waiter, and it was a delight to have him wait on us. All waiters should be like that. Friendly, knowledgeable about the food and beer he is serving, well spoken and what seemed a desire to impress the patrons at this bar/restaurant. We had an awesome experience. Yes, in small town Salinas. I personally can’t wait to go back. Like Salinas’ son, Steinbeck, said: “there’s nothing in the world like the first taste of beer.” And, they have lots of beer.“
