“We found Pablo's Basecamp at the end of Murphy's Main St. on a cold winters eve and it seemed like just the right time to share a burrito with my husband. Yes share, bc it was huge and for the amazing price of $10, and that was the supreme (with avacado & sour cream). The burrito was delicious, the staff super friendly and what a quaint atmosphere with the lights and Holiday feel.”
“A highlight of our weekend trip to Murphy's! In terms of wine, the merlot was my favorite. But there is so much more to see here. Pamela is so sweet, full of interesting stories, and has an incredible amount of knowledge. Winemaking, blacksmithing, camping, throwing and firing pottery, and gardening are just a few of the things you will find going on at Brice Station. Apparently there is even live music in the summer!”
“Love Gyro's, so had to give it a try! Our party of four walked in and were seated right away. The staff was friendly and very knowledgeable on the menu. The food was incredible and the gyro did not disappoint the restaurant was not very busy, but I'm hoping more people will try. The place was clean and very nice decor. Could be a little warmer inside, but I will be back to try other menu items.”
“Decided to spend a couple hours in Murphys because it's such a cute area for wine tasting. I had never been to Tuscanos but my friend had raved about it so I thought I'd give it a try. The appetizers were surprisingly tasty. How much can you expect from chicken wings, calamari and bruschetta? The chicken wings were covered in this tangy/garlicky sauce that just punched your mouth with flavor. They're definitely finger licking good. One order was not enough for four hungry adults. The bruschetta was light, refreshing and flavorful; and the calamari was thankfully not soggy or tasteless which can easily happen. The Caesar salad was good, I certainly finished it, but I cannot tell if I ate it all because I was soo hungry or because it was so good nonetheless it satisfied my craving. The Philly sandwich unfortunately lacked seasoning and the pasta was good but nothing spectacular. The service was great, seemed like there were only two ladies working the whole restaurant and they managed to do an excellent job.”
“Great wines and times. The tasting room is warm and cozy. You will enjoy the atmosphere and the friendly people that work here. I highly recommend this place as one to visit while in Murphys. We will be back!”
“Wonderful spot in a wonderful town (shhh... don't tell anyone about Murphys CA). Grounds consistently serves fresh, tasty, well-prepared California cuisine at good prices. I especially enjoyed the crab cakes appetizer (massive and chock-full of actual crab) and their burgers are on-point too. Great locally focused wine list and very classy cocktails. Their sister restaurant, Firewood, dishes out more casual fare and our kids love the pizza there.”
“We visited on 3/21/24, had lunch on the deck and enjoyed the spectacular flowers.Lunch was a bit pricey and unremarkable, but we weren't there for the food. :-)”
“First time here. What a charming little tasting room on main street in Murphy. When we walked past, quite a few folks were tasting, so we popped in. "Cool Karen" was the server and she made our experience. We had the "pick 3 for $15" and it was so much fun. My friend and I were both very intrigued by the presentation of this tasting. A special vessel / holder was used for the 3 glasses, which was then put on a diagram (paper) so we knew exactly which wine was which. We didn't end up buying any but had a lovely time sipping away. If in the area, give it a try. I shall add, it's a very intimate experience as the tasting room is quite small, but fun.”
“The Tasting room is underground, easy to find off main street. The natural rock walls make it a cool cave. We bought a red & white wine for gifts. Lucky for us, Todd's local sourdough bread was delivered there fresh, so we bought 3 loaves. We had never tried it before but heard it was the best. I agree! The staff was very knowledgeable, the owner I think. We were very pleased with our purchases & will be back when we have more time to try all the wines”
“A nice patio for lunch just off of main Street surrounded by historic buildings. We had to wait a little while to get a table which is understandable, but it would have been nice if we were addressed and told it would be a few minutes. We just stood there by ourselves for a little while. As far as the food goes, everything was very good we had pasta of the day and BLTA and split a house salad which was good to spinach and arugula with the other nice greens. All were very good. I Would come back.”
“The food was delicious, and the wait staff attentive and helpful. Their pho is truly outstanding. Their broth is the most flavorful I’ve ever tried. Everything was delicious though, and their walnut shrimp had the most perfectly steamed broccoli I’ve ever had.”
“Fantastic wines, wonderful people and cool hats! After a few days of exploring the cool little town of Murphy’s and numerous wine tasting stops, we fell in love with La Folia Winery. The shop on Main Street is a fantastic spot for great wines, amazing people and a bunch of nice hats. Our hostess Shannon was fabulous and fun, made us feel right at home. We are now members of their wine club and look forward to many more visits to La Folia and the Murphy’s area.Mark ElledgeAug 2023”
“Small and intimate environment. Suggest having reservations. One of the waitresses (didnt catch her name) seemed flustered and had to come back and take our order again. Received food correctly and was delicious. The other waitress, Alex, was very professional and polite.”
“A perfect pub. Live music, lively service, and nachos. We came in for our second stop in Murphy's. They had all the drink info on the wall, a nice big food menu, and plenty of seating. The bartender who's name maybe Nick? Made us feel right at home. He was a step ahead of our needs the whole time as we sat at the bar and took over for an hour. We laughed and enjoyed ourselves immensely. I would consider that first class service. Ritz level, deep into Calaveras. Will be back for a stouty pint.”
“Blown away by how good the food is here. Coming from San Francisco where there is top quality food, I can't wait to come back here next time we visit the area. The wife of the chef even came around to ask how the food was, and our response was "you should be proud to be serving people this food." You can tell there is so much thought put into the food - we got the Mac n cheese, pulled pork sandwich and the cowboy sandwich. A++”
