19 Best Wineries in Murphys

Gossamer Cellars Winery • $$
419 Main St, Murphys

“Gary was great and can only hope my future wine tastings are as fun and memorable. We talked about the local grapes and his experience as a bottler. We must have gone through 10 different wines (2 white and 9 reds) and was welcomed to more. The $10 tasting fee is comp'd with even a single bottle purchase. My friend was skeptical that they had practically a 5 star rating, but so glad we went and 5 stars is definitely deserved. As a wine neophyte, it was a great experience - I am warned that I should not expect anything even close this experience at other tasting rooms. Only one was a cab, the rest all different and fun wines. Highly recommended. will visit again and bring friends. Thanks Gary and Gossamer wines! What a local treasure. So unpretentious and welcoming.“

“One of my favorite tasting rooms in Murphys. The owner is always cheerful and welcoming. The "Cheeky Red" is by far one of the best red blends I have ever had. We always keep it on hand at home for dinner or gifts. Def add it to the list of places to stop!“

Brice Station Vineyards Tasting Room Wineries • $$
3353 CA-4, Murphys

“A highlight of our weekend trip to Murphy's! In terms of wine, the merlot was my favorite. But there is so much more to see here. Pamela is so sweet, full of interesting stories, and has an incredible amount of knowledge. Winemaking, blacksmithing, camping, throwing and firing pottery, and gardening are just a few of the things you will find going on at Brice Station. Apparently there is even live music in the summer!“

Vina Moda Winery
147 Main St, Murphys

“Vina Moda is a great little boutique winery that is nestled in downtown Murphys California on a street with multiple winery tasting rooms. Red wines are the expertise here, and the winemaker makes quite a few big heavy reds that stand out. There's plenty of awards displayed showing his success and the ambience is a feeling of a castle like atmosphere with deep dark undertones. The tasting room personnel are very knowledgeable and give great service, letting you try flights of wines or just specific ones. This is by far one of my favorite wine makers in the Calaveras County area and I enjoy all of his wines.“

Aloria Vineyards Tasting Room Winery • $$
448 Main St C, Murphys

“I love this wine produced from Aloria winery at their own vineyard overlooking New Melones Reservoir in Calaveras County. Come and meet Dave at the tasting room located across the street from the historic Murphy’s hotel. They have great tasting wines and many different varietals. They have a second label called ‘Above The Rush’ located in Vallecito. At Above The Rush, (the rushed life in the valley and Bay Area) they pair the wine with bites of delicious cheeses and herbs. Say hello to Veronica and Ryan while you enjoy your visit to our beautiful area.“

“Lovely tasting room. A minority women owned business, this winery has an a few wines that are really worth buying bottles to take home (Malbec and Albariño) and a sangria that will blow your mind. The owner is also credited with bringing the dia de Los muertos tradition to Murphys which is awesome to attend if you can.“

Val Du Vino Winery • $$
634 French Gulch Rd, Murphys

“We always enjoy stopping by Val Du Vino when we are in Murphy's. The atmosphere is so relaxing & the wine is phenomenal. They have a beautiful tasting room, it's so cozy & intimate, and they have a great outdoor patio with lots of seating, & awesome views. We usually come with a good size group & all the kids. It's right at the end of Main Street, away from some of the crazy hustle and bustle of downtown Murphy's, but still easily walkable, which is great! Next time you are in Murphy's, go check it out & ask for Debbie!“

Stevenot Wine Lounge & Tasting Bar Wine Bar • $$
458 Main St #3, Murphys

“First time here. What a charming little tasting room on main street in Murphy. When we walked past, quite a few folks were tasting, so we popped in. "Cool Karen" was the server and she made our experience. We had the "pick 3 for $15" and it was so much fun. My friend and I were both very intrigued by the presentation of this tasting. A special vessel / holder was used for the 3 glasses, which was then put on a diagram (paper) so we knew exactly which wine was which. We didn't end up buying any but had a lovely time sipping away. If in the area, give it a try. I shall add, it's a very intimate experience as the tasting room is quite small, but fun.“

Locke Vineyards Winery • $$
949 Green Meadow Ct, Murphys

“At the recommendation of some friends, we just tried a flight of wines during a weekday visit to Murphy's. Come to find out, we just missed wine festival crowds by one day (thank goodness). The staff there we're extremely friendly and we shared some info & recommendations with them from our own wine region (in the Paso Robles area). Our flight consisted of a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rose', Zinfandel, Cabernet and a red blend. The whites were light & refreshing (and I'm usually not a fan of Chardonnay). The rose' was also refreshing, not too sweet or too dry. Being big fans of Zin, we definitely liked their offering. My husband's favorite was their blend, the Giant Sequoia. They also had a number of lavender products (I took home a few bath bombs to try), as well as a swag section with vintage signs and other rustic decor items. We really enjoyed our tasting and we will return!!“

“We dropped in here randomly last week and I’m so glad we did! This guy is making really delicious, low-acidity wine - definitely the best of the tasting rooms we tried in Murphys. I would’ve bought a few bottles if I could’ve figured out how to get them home with me to Denmark!“

Newsome Harlow Wineries • $$

“The Tasting room is underground, easy to find off main street. The natural rock walls make it a cool cave. We bought a red & white wine for gifts. Lucky for us, Todd's local sourdough bread was delivered there fresh, so we bought 3 loaves. We had never tried it before but heard it was the best. I agree! The staff was very knowledgeable, the owner I think. We were very pleased with our purchases & will be back when we have more time to try all the wines“

Ironstone Vineyards Wineries • $$

“I recently had the pleasure of visiting this establishment in the company of friends, accompanied by our group of four children, all under the age of ten. I must express my admiration for the remarkable beauty of this locale. The gardens, adorned with a splendid array of flowers and ferns, left a lasting impression. Furthermore, the Museum and jewelry shop within the premises added to the overall charm of the experience.Notably, our visit was graced by the presence of a friendly black cat, which graciously permitted my children to enjoy the simple pleasure of petting. The selection of wines offered was not only delightful but also reasonably priced, enhancing the overall enjoyment of our visit.I eagerly anticipate the prospect of returning to this establishment next year, as this experience has left me with a deep sense of appreciation for the enchanting ambiance and offerings it provides.“
