“Visited Khobkoon on a holiday Monday for lunch. The restaurant sits in a strip mall/shopping center next to an Indian food restaurant. There were only two other tables with customers when we arrived, but I don’t hold that against them… it was lunchtime on Memorial Day.
The restaurant is on the smaller side, but doesn’t lack in personality. Darker tones and decor do feel authentic. Was immediately greeted by a gentleman who I would suspect is the owner. He was very courteous and seated us right away.
We were given their lunch menu, which appears to restrict many options available on their dinner menu (viewed it online). No big deal, it is lunch after all.
After reviewing the menu, we ordered a garden salad, Pad See-Ew with chicken and Kai Pad Kee Mao with chicken. Both entries were asked to be made with spicy level.
The salad came quickly and we were pleasantly surprised at the size. The salad comes with your typical iceberg lettuce, carrots, some red onion, sliced fresh tomatoes and sliced cucumber. The dressing is a Thai peanut style dressing, which you could see bits of peanuts in. It was also topped with some sort of fried topping, not sure entirely what it was. All of the produce was crisp and clearly fresh. However, while everything else was nice and cold, the dressing was warm… and I don’t mean like room temperature warm. Quite frankly, it was not a pleasant combination on a salad. The dressing itself tasted fine, but we felt it was muted a bit. Didn’t have that usual Thai peanut dressing tang to it. Nonetheless, it was fine.
The entries arrived at the same time (which isn’t always the case at Thai restaurants, so kudos). Our immediate reaction was… wow, this actually has some good spice to it. Far too often when I ask for spicy, I would get something that barely passes for black pepper spice. This was a refreshing change, actually spicy.
The Pad See Ew was good, the noodles cooked well (but I have to call out found several chunks that were stuck together), the vegetables and chicken were also cooked well, the flavor was good, but I would again argue a bit muted. The Kai Pad Kee Mao was really good, the rice was cooked perfectly and you could still get that fragrant jasmine rice flavor. Once again, the spice level was on point. My biggest wish here was just more vegetables.
While I have some critiques on the food, the service was 100%. We were warmly greeted, had fun conversation with the owner, the atmosphere is pleasant, and overall just a good experience.
I would definitely recommend and will be visiting again.“

“DIVINE! By far the best panang curry I ever had, and I've tried all over the valley. I judge a thai restaurant based on how they make their panang curry and I find its a good marker for the rest of their menu. The curry base was smooth and flavorful with that burst of sweetness panang is known for. I am excited to come back! I got the pineapple fried rice to go and can't wait to try it when I get home.“

“My first time coming here was great, the food is not too expensive and very authentic. The veggie eggrolls are my absolute favorite. I also got the curry noodle as an entree and it’s more than I expected. Only thing to note is that the sodas are very flat, but I saw the waitress bring out a Thai tea that looks amazing so will be getting that next time.“

“I highly recommend Siam Patio for drop in or take out. I'm not sure if they've had a recent change in ownership or management, but we are sorely disappointed in the new policy of "no reservations for 'only' two people". My husband and I have been regular and frequent patrons since the month Siam Patio opened, and always reserve a table for every special occasion and holiday, including Christmas. Today I attempted to make my usual Christmas reservation for two on Christmas day. I was bluntly informed that if we had 'only two' people we would have to be walk ins. No reservations. The food may still be delicious, but the service and appreciation for dedicated customers is in the toilet. What a shame!“

“We had dinner for the first time the other night and everything was excellent. I was the only Vegan in our group and they had quite a few vegan options. I had for starters the crispy tofu and spring rolls, also the Pad Thai and the rice mango dessert. Our waiter was on top of things and it was just an all-around great experience. Told my daughter because she and her husband are vegan. We will definitely be back“

“Thai Basil is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in all of Sacramento. They are consistently good and I love the freshness and the flavors. Fresh rolls with the peanut dipping sauce, drunken noodles, any of the curries, and the garlic rice are some of my favorites. Also, one of my favorite Thai Iced Coffees (I get it with Coconut milk!)“

“I ordered the yellow curry chicken and a side of rice noodles and it was in the top 10% of Thai restaurants I've had in the area. The staff was very friendly while I waited they had happy hour Monday through Friday $2 off draft beers and the food was excellent“

“The portions and seasoning are on point at kin Thai. We had the spaghetti kee mao and the ga prao. I loved the northern influence with the kee mao (spiced sausage in lieu of say chicken, for example) and the spicy garlic chili sauce with the ga prao. I think this place will do super well at the 20/K street block. Take note this food comes with some different flavors and a decent amount of heat than you may be used to, but just know you will not be disappointed. Cheers!“

“I only tried the Khao Soi and I ordered it to-go so this review is only for the Khao Soi!
I’ve tried many versions of this dish both in the states and in Thailand and I felt that Pinto Thai did a really great job! The broth was the perfect blend of sweet, spicy and creamy-as it should be. Very warm and delicious. All the toppings were fresh and the noodles were yummy. The chicken is not a traditional braised leg but was nonetheless tender. I was very pleasantly surprised overall. This dish is worth a try!! I will definitely be back!“

“Today is my mom’s birthday, it is a unique birthday because she is currently in the middle of battling cancer. She can only eat soft foods & is lactose intolerant so we thought having mango sticky rice as her birthday cake would work well as a substitute.
We ordered from Thai Smile & asked if they could make it pretty for my mom hoping they would turn the rice and mango into the shape of a heart or something.
They not only did that but MORE.
The owners of the restaurant & their staff went above and beyond and gave my mom flowers, personally wrote her a card, added a candle to her beautiful (and delicious) dessert, and even added in a thai tea. We ordered a few main courses as well! So so yummy.
We’re just strangers who randomly ordered online on a Wednesday. Their kindness and effort brought me to tears.
Thank you Thai Smile for giving us a positive memory to attach my mom’s 65th birthday to. In the midst of so much uncertainty and stress, this gave us hope.
The heart & soul of this small business speaks volumes. Please continue to support this local gem!“

“I’m very impressed! We had the Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles with tofu and an order of the Spring Rolls with chicken. The flavors of each dish make this a top tier choice. It’s definitely better than Coconut on T. I look forward to trying out the green curry and other dishes. Medium spice still had a nice kick to it. The spring rolls were very fresh and I liked the peanut sauce. The drunken noodles had a variety of veg mixed in. The pad thai had its signature sweetness but that wasn’t the primary flavor, much more in depth. Big serving sizes too! Right now this is my favorite Thai spot in Sac!“

“(2/7/21) Went in today and was not disappointed! Ordered seafood pad see ew, beef broccoli, and chicken fried rice; all three were freshly made, the beef was tender, broccoli wasn’t soggy, but super fresh! The rice was moist and soft just like I was craving it; and the gravy was exactly what I was hoping for. The only thing I would do differently would be asking for extra shrimp, my kids ate them and only left me one 🤣 The Thai tea was so good, I ordered a second one for later 👌 I’ll definitely be going back to try other things off their menu 👌“

“I had the Drunken Noodles medium spicy with tofu. I added a bit more heat with the spice tray. They did not have the sliced pickled jalapenos (mini) in the spice tray. The dish is very tasty with veggies (string beans, tomatoes, onions, red bell peppers) mixed among the noodles. This place is worth looking into if you're in town looking for Thai food.“

“The papaya salad is to die for and the customer service has been great both times I have gone from the asian make owner! My guy friend and I have gone once for dining in and the second time when my guy friend and I got takeout. I can’t stop raving about the papaya salad! It’s a must try and I dream about it in my sleep it’s so good with the noodles and so spicy! Lol. I’m in love and drooling... o baby!!! Lol come here and eat, the other dishes are mediocre and the hot pot we tried the first time wa so so due to the broths we weren’t a fan of and the meat and seafood weren’t of good quality and had gone bad when we had gotten to them in the fridge. Just stick with the papaya salad and noodles and you will be good to go! Eat here and good eating! Cheers!“

“YUMMY IN MY TUMMY. First of all a sister myself this place I was so excited to try. But, boy did they blow my socks off. The big sister is an absolute beast when it comes to running a business smoothly. Roseville and Rocklin did not have a single thai spot that actually had the flavor of authentic, tasty, and blasting with flavor dishes. THIS spot however is it. You will not be dissapointed. The curries are all so tasty and I am a big papaya salad princess and this place delivers. <3“

“We just left Coconut on Fulton, and it was such a wonderful experience! We originally ordered takeout, but decided to stay and dine in so we could enjoy some plum wine and we're so glad we did.
The customer service was amazing. The gentleman at the front answered the phone when we called and was also the one who greeted and seated us. He was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit.
I ordered the spicy tilapia because I rarely see tilapia on restaurant menus, and I'm so glad I did. It was absolutely delicious!! perfectly cooked and full of flavor. We also ordered the pineapple fried rice, and it was just as amazing. Everything tasted fresh and was beautifully prepared.
The restaurant was very clean, had a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and it was nice to see so many regular customers coming in. That really says a lot about the quality of the food and service.
We'll definitely be back. Highly recommend!“
