“Our first time here. Wanted to try a different Japanese restaurant vs our usual. Parking was convenient. They have a small parking lot on the back. We ordered to share: caterpillar sushi roll, chicken karage ( not twice fried)and vegetable tempura. (Thicker battered). But not bad. We each ordered: Tonkatsu Don, bento box salmon and chicken teriyaki , bento box tonkatsu and sesame chicken chicken udon, and nabeyaki udon. Drinks: Sapporo beer. Overall, food was good and they came super fast. While eating, I noticed they had a lot of orders Togo. Quite busy with take outs. We definitely will come back.“

“Family owned sushi spot worth visiting! The food took a bit but that's because the food is prepared by the grandfather. He puts alot into his food and it shows. It's small place that could be easily missed. Great sushi and we would love to come again when in the area.“

“This spot offers a wonderful selection of nigiri, sashimi, and creative rolls. Tried the Romeo & Juliet and Lion Queen rolls, both beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The agedashi tofu was perfectly crisp on the outside, silky inside, topped with delicate bonito shavings and served in a warm, not-too-sweet soyu broth, a comforting classic done right. Everything tasted fresh and satisfying, with thoughtful combinations that show real care in preparation“

“We had an amazing dining experience! The food was fantastic, and the host was incredibly friendly and helpful. We followed his recommendations and ordered the chef’s choice bowl, sushi tacos, salad, and toro—and he was absolutely right. Everything was so delicious, I nearly swallowed my tongue! I think my favorite was the sushi tacos—they were out of this world. Highly recommend!“

“Picked up from this place and was SO delighted! Everything was so fresh and flavorful perfect texture and well balanced!
Here’s what we got:

Crab Cheese Puffs- honestly the best I’ve had!
Salmon Toro - perfect texture, super buttery!“

“Quasi-private dining experience with exquisite omakase curated with top shelf fresh seafood run by a single chef and a single waitress/hostess. Impressive culinary arts in whimsical and small dining room. Wagyu beef topped with caviar and gold flakes nigiri for the win. Improvements could include more familiar Japanese beers and sake along with allowing customer to choose tip percentage based on quality of service. (I’m not a fan of flat 20% no matter what for service fee). All in all, great dining experience and worth revisiting!“

“Good for lunch. Really value for your money. I had the sashimi lunch set and my wife had the chicken wing and salmon sushi set and both were really fresh and good. Will definitely come again ! Weekdays - reservations not really needed, but I've come by on weekends and you should make reservations.“

“One of the best ramen shops in the bay area! Trust the reviews, this place is phenomenal. Delicious broth with such a complexity of flavors in a rich/hearty ramen. It rivaled both marafuku and hinodeya. I loved the clam ramen (it was PACKED with clams), and our other guests truly enjoyed the short rib ramen and the tonkotsu. Fast service, intimate space, and hot food. Worth the drive from SF“

“Absolutely blown away by this sushi spot. It’s a hidden gem with the perfect mix of cozy romantic ambiance and truly top tier sushi. The lighting is soft and intimate which makes it ideal for a date night or a quiet evening to treat yourself.
The nigiri is next level. Fresh, delicate, and full of flavor. I highly recommend sitting at the bar and letting the chef choose a few pieces for you if you’re open minded.
Because of the chef I discovered that I absolutely LOVE Horse Mackerel Nigiri, Kutuso, and Shima Aji. These were things I probably never would have picked on my own but now I can’t stop craving them.
Every piece felt like it was crafted with care and precision. You can really taste the passion and expertise behind each bite.
Already dreaming about my next visit. Easily one of my favorite sushi experiences in the Mission.“

“We passed by the restaurant quite a few times that we would come here for a special occasion. We finally did and were delighted with its set menu offering. Every dish looks beautiful, tastes delicious. I particularly like its use of radish and savory herb and the special decor , a few herb taste like mild wasabi which really enhance the flavor. Price wise, maybe at the high end of a regular lunch but certainly an affordable meal for special occasion. Reservation recommended.“

“My partner told me about this place after seeing buzz about it on TikTok. We both wanted to try it and so we dined in on a Friday night. The restaurant offers outdoor heated seating, but we opted for indoors since we brought our baby. Fortunately, the wait was not too long because it sure turned frigid fast.
As other reviewers mentioned the restaurant is quite cozy. They also have a communal high table. We were seated near the window with a high chair. We ordered the frozen beer, potstickers, chicken karaage, maguro bowl and mentai spaghetti for dinner. For dessert we had the apple tart and the Hokkaido cheesecake.
We loved the cheesecake and the spaghetti. While the other dishes were solid, the spaghetti and the cheesecake were the stars! Looking forward to coming back to try the champignon pasta.“

“I had pretty low expectations for a sushi place attached to a La Quinta, but this place was spectacular. The fish was fresh and prepared well, the presentation was very nice, and sitting at the sushi bar was a cool experience. Service was a little slow, but they were absolutely packed with customers. It's not hard to see why. I've paid twice as much for sushi half as good. This place was excellent.“

“I'm on a mission to try as many Japanese spots in the upper Peninsula as possible. This is a solid Izakaya spot in San Bruno. The American wagyu beef skewer, pork belly skewer, and corn tempura were standout dishes for me - The wagyu is one of the best beef skewers I've ever had. The chicken skewer and salmon lover nigiri were also really good. The beef croquette and spicy tuna crispy rice were just okay, I wish they had more flavor. Service was good, they were attentive and friendly. Overall a great experience. I'm definitely going to come back and try more things.“

“Good place for a quick bite after shopping or a movie at the Regal at Stonestown Mall. The udon had the right firmness, broth was not salty and the different selections of tempura were light. Service was quick. Free parking on the lot.“

“Definitely food to be enjoyed with good company. Service was fast considering how busy it was. If I had company, I suspect it would have been perfect. The uni I had was smooth and buttery. All the sashimi and sushi had clean and distinct flavors.“

“We have been here a couple times ever since a few years ago, when I think they just opened. The food never disappoints. I don’t often come by Japanese food that stand out, and this place does, in many ways like the presentation, taste and variety of food offered. Having spent many years in Vancouver, I’ve had a fair bit of Japanese food growing up.
The service is great too. Our waitress is quick, patient, and recommended a dish that we loved.
There is outdoor dining area in addition to indoor. There are two spacious bathrooms, relatively clean.
All in all, this is one of the top Japanese restaurants in the area and my personal favorite. I hope more people get to enjoy it like I do.“

“happy to have stumbled upon this place. the rolls were good, sashimi fresh, and fried things used a beer-like batter that was more doughy / golden crispy rather than the thinner crumbly style — karaage had some tenderized meat inside instead of large chunks of thigh which was unexpected but interesting. the gomae and agedashi tofu were generous. overall, nice home-y japanese mom n pop serving a bunch of classics, humble and satisfying for a casual dinner date.“

“I have been here multiple times, usually when I am craving for some sushi or when I am in the area and want to get something different. This place is a plus in the neighborhood, because there are not many sushi spots within the district. The staffs here are very welcoming, well trained and understanding where I never had an issue in any of my visits. Their menu consists of Japanese appetizers, sushi rolls, specialty rolls, sashimi, dinner sets, desserts, etc. For dine in, you can choose booth seating, bar counter or regular table seating. Everything is made to order which is just how I like it and I never mind the wait since I am a very patient person. I highly recommend this place to all sushi enthusiasts, to anyone looking for a laid back spot or if you just happen to be within the area. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.“

“I was actually jonesing for some good Japanese curry when we were searching for a place to eat.. I decided on Fumi because the Japanese curry before the ramen lol must be good if it’s first right? “I moved to Burlingame in 2020 and found Fuumi as I was walking down Broadway. It quickly became a favorite with great quality sushi from a very friendly and efficient team.
Over the past 4 years I've probably had more than 50 meals from Fuumi and they've never put a foot wrong with my order and it's always been delicious.
Sadly I've now moved out of state so my Fuumi habit has ended... But to quote Douglas Adams, "so long and thanks for all the fish!"“

“This place has been here for ages and I tried it for the first time not too long ago. The food was tasty - I've only tried their sushi rolls but everything I've tried has been solid so far. “Great food and excellent service. We had the tea leaf salad, Tonkatsu Ramen and Japanese curry. The Tonkatsu was tender and the breaded coating was crispy and flavorful. We were very happy with the curry and tea leaf salad. You can taste that everything was fresh and the portions were plentiful. We were stuffed and gladly ate everything because it was delicious! The owner is very nice and you can tell she cares about quality. We'll be back.“

“I got the beef teriyaki and tempura lunch special for $12.95. With a tip still under twenty bucks. The beef was more tender than other places I've tried. The tempura was delicious and included one shrimp tempura, and the rest was vegetables. It also came with rice and a small salad. There are sushi boats here I'd like to come back and try. The staff told me for now, the boats are operating fridays and weekends only. While I waited for my to go order, I spoke with a very friendly employee who said the restaurant has been there for thirty years. This restaurant is definitely worth a try. I will be coming back. It's right next to lowe's in San Bruno.“

“This place is a HIDDEN GEM and my go to Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area.
Tonkatsu is my favorite, but their sushi and sashimi are very good too - always very fresh and tasty.
The vibe is cozy and it’s also a great place for a group lunch or dinner because they have several private dining rooms available.
Highly recommend!“

“So delicious!!!!!! I stumbled upon Kunugi Noodle at the Clement St Farmer's Market. “I was so happy to find this truck in the empty lot next to Tselogs. I love Benihana so when I saw the Hibachi truck with all their offerings I was so happy. My favorite is the filet mignon plate! They ask you how you like the meat cooked. You get mushrooms and vegetables with the plate and delicious ice cooked in the fat and butter of the meat and veggies! So tasty and flavorful! They give you hibachi sauce which is a spicy thousand islands, not my favorite wish they had the sauce of Benihana. They also give a buttery sauce, maybe they should add garlic and herbs to the butter to make it tastier since it tastes like plain butter to me. Also got the filet mignon and scallop plate, the scallops cooked a little too much so left it dry. Hopefully they have better dipping sauces but for about $35 it's a very hearty and filling meal. You get good quality ingredients! Will continue supporting them!“
