“I rolled in with friends for a Harvest Hosts overnight and met Sean inside the tasting room; he walked us out and pointed to several places we could set up. As in my photos, the field is wide open with shaded edges under big oaks and views of the Mendocino hills along Highway 128. Plenty of space to spread out without crowding other rigs. I was able to run the generator for AC during the warm afternoon, and once the sun dipped the air cooled off nicely, so the AC—and the generator—got a break.

Inside, the tasting felt easy and unhurried. Sean poured a thoughtful lineup that fits the area—Anderson Valley is tucked between the redwoods and the coast and leans toward cooler-climate styles. The surprise for me was their Dry Riesling; it’s the first dry Riesling I’ve genuinely liked, enough that I took home three bottles while my friends grabbed a case. The fresh-baked sourdough he handed us (that big round loaf in the photo) was crackly, and absolutely dangerous with butter.

Fair note for RVers: this is true dry camping—no power or water—so come self-sufficient and expect a basic field, not hookups. The afternoon heat can nudge you to run the generator, but evenings settle into that quiet country cool that makes sleeping easy.

The wines are excellent, yes. But what really impresses me is the attention to detail on the wine tasting experience itself. They start you off with a glass at the door. Separate glasses for each wine that you'll be tasting all poured in advance so you can compare them at your discretion. A descriptive printout. Water. Some basic accompaniments. Laid out perfectly. And of course the terrific facilities with shade, nice views, great bathrooms, etc..

Then add to that if you order any of their other accompaniments how tasty and perfectly presented they are. It really is excellent and a very tasty first class experience.

The staff is incredible knowledgeable and warm. No pressure. No rushing you.

“I’m just going to throw this out there right now: I may have just had the absolute best smash burger of my entire life at Jumbo's Win Win. Actually, scratch that—without a doubt, it was the single best smash burger I’ve ever eaten!

If you go, get the Okie Onion Smash Burger—and definitely make it a double. The flavor and crust on the patties are out of this world. My wife got the single and was completely blown away, too.

We paired it with an order of Jasper's hand-cut fries, which were top-shelf perfection—crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. I also added a half wedge salad, and in all honesty, it was one of the best wedge salads I’ve had in a really long time. Washing it all down with a nice cold can of Donna's Pickle Beer was easily the best pairing of the entire day.

To top off an already unbelievable meal, we ended with their Greek-style soft serve: creamy vanilla soft serve drizzled with olive oil, honey, and a pinch of sea salt. Phenomenal!

On top of all that incredible food, they had a live, three-piece jazz band playing that was super cool and fit the whole atmosphere perfectly.

You literally cannot hype this place up enough. From the food to the music, it's an absolute gem in Philo!“
