“Cappelli Wines in Placerville (CA) is a true gem in El Dorado County wine country and a must-visit for anyone looking for exceptional boutique wines at approachable prices. Located in a charming historic building, the tasting room is warm, elegant, and welcoming—perfect for both seasoned wine lovers and casual tasters. The Cappelli family crafts easy-drinking, beautifully balanced wines that consistently overdeliver on quality, making them ideal for everything from everyday enjoyment to special occasions. What truly sets Cappelli Winery apart is the outstanding hospitality. Marco and the entire Cappelli team are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about their wines, creating an experience that feels more like visiting friends than a formal tasting. Staff members go above and beyond to make guests feel remembered, welcomed, and cared for, whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth. From flawless service to consistently excellent wines, Cappelli Wines stands out as one of the best wineries in Placerville, offering an unforgettable tasting experience that deserves a spot at the top of your wine-country itinerary. It’s been our sixth time and it is always great. Marco is a gifted winemaker that got what we all wanted: amazing wines and great experiences for an affordable price.“
“Always a lovely day at Hollys 🍁🍷🍁“
“We had the pleasure of having my daughter's wedding here recently and I cannot say enough good about not only the venue but the management and staff from well before the wedding date all the way through the most magical day went above and beyond!
Jordan and Maggie are simply the best and they care about your special day as if it were their own. It was phenomenal the amount of people that approached us asking how did you find this place??
From the wedding night/guesthouse to the beautiful lake to the massive grounds it is absolutely breathtaking and so well kept yet so comfortable to be in… Highly highly recommend!“
“This winery is one of the best! We visited for a wine tasting and the gentleman was so informative about the wines and how they are harvested, we couldn’t get enough of his knowledge! The wines, all six, that we selected on our own were excellent! We will probably join the club when we get home! Also, there is a picnic area that you can purchase a charcuterie board or cheese and crackers, spreads and dips to sit down and enjoy with your bottle of wine! It’s fantastic!“
“Miss the winery. Thank your shipping !“
“Amazing place! Had a great time.“
“This winery is an absolute gem in Placerville! Their wines are absolutely delicious, and the variety of reds is truly impressive. The S&M wine, in particular, is everything I love about a bold red—big, full-bodied, and wonderfully jammy. It’s the kind of wine I could enjoy year-round, whether in the heat of summer or on a cozy winter evening - with or without food!
Beyond the wine, the owners and their entire staff are so warm and welcoming—they make every visit feel special. I highly recommend making an appointment to taste here; it’s an experience you won’t forget!“
“We too have been members for years! What happened to Debbi and Nate? Wow, sad to hear, Debbi was 1 one of the main reasons we went FH, besides wine, but she truly made it extraordinarily special! Hopefully she's ok.“
“This is an amazing place with a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere and beautiful views over the vineyards. The wine is truly excellent — rich, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. It’s a perfect spot to spend an afternoon, enjoy a tasting, and just unwind. Highly recommended.“
“Love sitting on this dog friendly patio gazing at the Sierra Nevada foothills listening to fun bands drinking outstanding wines. Life is good!!!“
“Best wines I’ve had, EVER, in this part of the state. We went for the Valentine’s lunch and it was a revelation (pun intended?). Tina is an exceptional cook, Frank and outstanding winemaker, both are lovely hosts, and their entire team is so kind, helpful and knowledgeable. My mother and I are excited to visit again.“
“Strange enough to run into Kenyan (FNF#15 owner and past colleague) 10 yrs after we met. He was stocking his wine on the shelves at a local liquor store. After a short spat of equal recognition, he informs me of his organic “micro” brewery. Being a tap house owner myself, I strive to support local and independent, thus I partook! The wheat beer he crafted has been on tap but a short while and delivers consistent satisfaction to those who partake. This batch itself carries an embodied citrus tartness, bordering a tart saison but with a cloudy wheat appeal…prefered with a citrus slice either to add sweetness or compliment tartness. Cheers!“
“Great ambience and the staff goes above and beyond!“
“Downtown Placerville tasting room is very convenient. Great service and they even had Monday Night Football on the tv“
“Starfield Vineyards sits just east of Placerville, in the Apple Hill area. On the 24 acres of Vineyards are a variety of vines, with the focus on Rhône, Italian and Spanish grapes. The wines are fresh, bright and fruit forward. The Sparkling Brut Rose ($42) has a strawberry toned, grenache base wine. Tannat ($50) is a grape in madiran wines. The Vioghier ($36) is called the banana cream pie wine. Enjoy the stunning landscape with a wine pairing and scrumptious nibbles. This is a great date spot, to enjoy the spacious winery. With weather permitting, bring a blanket and head down to the pond. IG: SACRAMENTOHONEY“

“BlueBarn Provisions is an absolute gem in Camino! Everything about this place feels thoughtful and elevated…. from the cozy, charming atmosphere to the beautifully crafted menu. I had the Roasted Turkey with French Brie + Peach Jam, Spring Greens on Ciabatta, and WOW. The flavor combo was perfection; savory, creamy, slightly sweet, and so fresh. The peach jam with the brie took it to another level, and the ciabatta was perfectly toasted. You can tell they really care about quality ingredients and presentation. This is the kind of place you go once and immediately start thinking about what you’ll order next time. If you’re anywhere near Camino, this is a must-stop. 🥪✨“
“Honesty, Gold Hill Winery probably not the best one among the area, but it won’t be a bad one, cause there are many different types of the wine for tasting. Also, the owner, which is an old lady seems like a fun person, she waived my tasting fee since I went there on a Thursday. If one thing I not feel quite good, that might be the deposited ashes of the grape left in the glass. To leave the customer a better tasting experience, they could add a cap with filter on the top of the bottle of the wines, so those ashes of the grapes will not fall into the glass with the fluid.“

“I had never been here, but was invited by a friend for lunch. I had the truffled flatbread pizza followed by black forest cheesecake and it was AMAZING! Their wines were delicious! I Loved it so much, I became a member. Try it out if you're close by, you won't regret it. Ask for Stacy when you go.“
