50 Best Ice Cream Shops near Playa Del Rey

“I came across Playa Provisions when in town for business. It was a short Uber from the airport, so I figured I'd give it a try. This place is an absolute gem! It is a unique setup that has everything you'd possibly need from morning until late at night: Cafe in the front for coffee and fresh baked good, as well as full breakfast menu. Later in the heat of the afternoon, take a break from the beach (right across the street) and enjoy hand scooped specialty ice cream cones and shakes. Oh look, it's dinner time... and Playa Provisions opens their dining room and bar, some of the best, most relaxed ambience you'll find for miles around. But don't let the casual setting fool you, this is some incredible, elevated cuisine. Chef owners Nick and Brooke (who you might recognize) crafted a menu that's I've been eating my way through, and have yet to find a dish that's not delicious. You've been eating and drinking all day, and are exhausted? Don't leave yet! Wander into the back 'secret' whiskey bar, (Grain Whiskey Bar) and enjoy hand crafted cocktails from award winning bartenders (no, literally), in a gorgeous wood laden atmosphere. I consider myself a foodie, and try as many different restaurants and cuisines as I can. And yet, Playa Provisions remains my favorite restaurant in LA (and that's saying something, considering the amazing places in LA). Run, don't walk, to Playa Provisions. You'll thank me.“

“These people are incredible and the Gelato is better than 99% of the Gelato I had in Italy. They opened during Covid and SURVIVED if that tells you anything. Both of them are wonderful humans and the Gelato is extraordinary. Plus they saved dogs from food markets overseas. Doesn't get much better. Please check them out.“

“From the little I stole from my boyfriend, the ice cream was very delicious. The soft serve ice cream was smooth, creamy, and sweet. The taiyaki was light, crispy, warm and it was very nice. Maybe next time I'll order my own just for me.“

“The cookies and cream ice cream is so good! They also give you a generous portion. The ice cream doesn’t melt easily even when we were eating outside in a hot weather. “Honestly, I was skeptical looking at the menu choice. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and experiment. I played it safe, but was still highly impressed. I tried the honey lavender and coffee and love nuts, it was phenomenal highly recommend please try do not judge. The irony is the honey and lavender has notes of some tea flavor that I could not put my finger on, but it paired well with the coffee.“

“I am usually not the type to write a review, but the service that Sebastian provided was top tier. Sebastian allowed us to sample some products and provided some creative suggestions when it came to combination like a peanut butter and jelly like option when it came to gelato. He was extremely patient with me as I made chose a flavor or gelato to take home and even promoted the points system when imputing our phone number before purchasing it. His service alone is 5 stars alone and the products that were sold were extremely delicious as well, I am looking forward to trying more flavors and running into him again for more suggestions he comes across of.“

“One of my favourite gelato store in LA, I came back a lot of times and it’s been my 10th time or so back here, I love their rich gelato taste and would definitely recommend you to go visit here, they have a wide range of flavors you can choose, for example you have 14 types of chocolate gelato you can choose, so you can have a bit more fun choosing what you want, really recommend it! The people working there are also very nice and friendly and they provide tables and chairs for you to sit inside or outside.“

I was not able to get the young man’s name but I have this picture here that he let me take. This young man was so warm and hospitable towards everyone who walked in the store.
