“Hit up the New Nutmeg on Danielson Street in Poway. I heard their Scripps location closed because the landlord raised the rent so high it was unaffordable for them to stay there. We were a large group so we were able to order a bunch of menu items. There was a line but its a very popular place so we were not surprised. We started with some espresso drinks, and agua frescas. We had the Hearty Bowl, Avocado Toast, and Amazing Burrito. Some in our group had the new Grandpa's Breakfast Bun with the egg and spam, and the Porky. They are very flexible with special orders including one in our group who is gluten sensitive. We finished, sharing their in-house baked pastries (they have gluten-free pastries); the warmed espresso scones and cinnamon buns (don't ever leave without having the "buns"). I work in the area so Nutmeg is now my go-to for breakfast before work, or lunch. Its also located nearby Costco and Home Depot, convenient for a weekend meal before or after my weekly Costco runs.“

“The cookies are hit or miss most of the time. However, the staff here is always ( well almost) so friendly and kind. I don’t visit as much as I’d like because it’s cost prohibitive. And well id most likely gain too much weight if I enjoyed these more often.“

The strawberry burnt basque cakes is also very good. It’s better than the original one.
Parking sucks though because the shop shares a small lot with many other stores, so it’s always difficult to find parking unless you come right when they open.“

“i love this place! their coffee and taro cake rolls are my family's personal favorite. its fluffy, flavorful, and not too sweet! they do sell out quick though! so i highly recommend going early unless you want frozen rolls! the cake rolls pair nicely with soymilk. the owners are really friendly and will go to long lengths to search for your desired flavor! 10/10!“

“I’ve been wanting to try NBC for along time, recently moved to Santee and this location is very close to my house. I tried a few of their cakes. The red velevet is very good and moist. The carrot one is a little dry and have a giant hole in the middle. I personally love carrot cake but i’d not get it again here. The biscoff and new marble are soo goood! I wish i could choc opt for the balls though. It’s not that bad but i’m not a fan.

I also wish that they have Less icing option available. I love cheesecake icing but it gets overwhelm when it’s too much.

Shout out for the customer service! Visited them twice and received a fabulous service on both visits! This place is my fav when i crave desserts.“

“I went to O’Brien’s for the first time today. My Mother-in-law highly recommended the restaurant so I could meet my friend. The food was delicious. The service was great- Thank You Sarah and team. I am so excited to try the different types of breads and pastries. O’ Brien’s is known for their delicious breads, especially sour dough. “Like a few others here, I am a native New Yorker with a love for authentic and delicious rugulach with proper and freash ingredients.Chewy's rugulach is the best there is here on the west coast.I pick up the chocolate rugulach at the cookie bar at Whole Foods Market in El Segundo, and you should too! He was very knowledgeable, took note of our special occasion, and struck up good conversation. We needed a specific gluten free cake due to dietary restrictions and this location delivered. “I LOVE this bakery. Literally such a hidden gem with the best pandesal. I go here whenever I am craving some pandan or ube pandesal. A whole tray of 10 rolls is only $5. Cash works best but it shouldn’t be a problem if you use card. Forgot to take pics of the pandesal before I ate it because it was so delicious. The butter is inside the pandesal so it makes for a nice little filling. We got 2 trays (1 pandesal, 1 ube) and it was a hit at the potluck. And only for $10!!!“

“My girlfriend and I have been coming to this PB for a long time and we have noticed a difference texture and flavor of the matcha compared to other PB locations. We brought it up to an employee and mentioned how they're using a different matcha powder. They were very nice to remake them and add sweetner but my concern is as to why the type of powder is not standardized between all branches.“

“You know vacation time you always crave special and that's what I got to experience... The Mad For Cheesecake was so delightful. They have special varieties that you can pick and choose any and would be delighted. I experienced the matcha roll cake omg ..I just couldn't stop eating... the creme filling was smooth and very tasty. I had tried at least 5-6 varieties of cakes and was so happy that it was there in the party menu as well... by end of the party there was none left... it was so yummy... The strawberry boba tea became my kiddo's absolute favourite. I would highly suggest the place. The staff is patient and helpful.“

“Trining’s is “in transition” and it shows. The front is a bit disorganized, but well divided into baked goods and ready-made take out products. The menu is hand-written on a wall-mounted white board (see pictures), but is easily understood and clearly legible.

Now, for the food—Very good! Loved the lumpia. The sweet chili sauce had just a hint of heat to it. Perfect!

We also got chicken adobo and pancit. Both were excellent. Since I ordered two combos to go, I was very careful not to tip the containers and tried to avoid contaminating the pancit with adobo sauce. All for naught. I must have leaned on the brakes a bit too heavily because the very fluid adobo sauce obeyed the laws of physics and colored both the pancit and lumpia. With dark, rich, peppery adobo flavoring. But—it was still great! The chicken adobo was tender and tasty, and the pancit was yummy, even though it tasted more like adobo than pancit. The lumpia, as I expected, was to die for. Crisp and crunchy with a hint of heat from the chili sauce. So good!

Well done Trining’s. Get your front together and I’ll be back. Can I bring some friends with me? I’ve got some East coast buddies who think egg rolls are the bomb. Your lumpia can easily blow that theory out of the water…“

“I discovered their sourdough bread at Costco couple years ago and since then, it has become a staple at our house. It’s SO GOOD I eat a slice or two every morning with Irish butter, and as soon as I run out I go to Costco, lol. It’s the best sourdough bread and I always look forward to enjoying it with my coffee.“
