“Great little local coffee shop. Delicious tasting coffee, great service, and quickly through the drive thru. I really like how they use coffee ice cubes in my cold brew so that it doesn't get diluted with water, but with more coffee. Genius!“

“We ordered 2 trays of crepes and a tray of chocolate croissants for our family Easter party. Isabelle was fantastic in helping me on deciding which crepes were best for my order. We decided on one tray of savory chicken crepes and one tray of spinach crepes. Both were exceptional. Everyone in our family couldn't stop raving about them. Additionally one of our guests brought Isabelles fabulous lemon cake for dessert. That was equally a huge hit. I'm already planning my next order of crepes.“

Island Girl Bakes Bakery • $$

“If you are looking for gluten free bread options, look no further. Island Girl Bakes is your answer! Alicia who is the owner of this fabulous baked goods is located primarily in Encinitas but goes out to sell in 6 local farmer markets. Alicia had issues with her digestion so she worked on eliminating wheat and gluten from her diet. She is very passionate about diet and health and wanted ot produce fresh baked organic gluten free breads and baked goods that not only taste amazing, but are good for you. And she wanted to provide people like herself the healthy alternatives to wheat based breads and desserts. My sister actually found out about Island Girl Bakes before me as she is gluten sensitive and found Alicia at Poway Farmer's Market. After sampling what she got - the zucchini and the "sourdough" bread, I was sold. I have a weakness for breads, so I went to Poway Farmer's market too, to indulge. I have gotten the bomb banana bread, the pumpkin bread, the zen zucchini bread, and the "french style" rice bread. The banana bread is indeed BOMB and I have shared it with some friends when they visited me. The zucchini and pumpkin were also divine. But the "French Style" Rice Bread tastes very comparable to a sourdough bread. Tastes so good when you heat it up/toast it slightly to eat with avocado or eggs. For the rice bread, you can have it in your freezer if you don't eat it a few days after you buy it. I haven't tested if I am gluten sensitive, but I have noticed that I been having more cramps and bloating problems as I have been getting older. Or, it could be that I am gluten sensitive, but just blocked it out of my memory and been in denial. I will say, when I do eat these breads, I haven't felt as bloated as I usually do. So I do think there is truth that you are what you eat. If you wanted to know a bit more about gluten, Alicia's website of islandgirlbakes.com has a section on it. And I'm certain, that the internet has a plethora of information. Happy eating :)“

“Boo! Just learned this place had closed at the end of January 2024 when I was in the area today and was going to get some treats. Their scones and cupcakes and pies (pretty much everything I tried) was the best! Thanks for the memories and I wish you luck in your future endeavors.“

“Having a coffee and croissant her makes me feel like I am in the south of France and not in a strip mall. Outdoor seating, French music over the intercom and delicious coffee and treats... even the owner (I believe she is) very pleasant and focused on her customers. If not the owner, she deserves a promotion. Very enjoyable.“

Prager Brothers Artisan Bread Bakery • $$

“I love a delicious seeded baguette! As I write this I am eating the last of my bread from 2 days ago, lightly toasted and it holds up. The whole wheat flatbread is surprisingly light, I imagined all of these dips and toppings and somehow wound up eating it plain. Right? Some pictures of the insides are included, beautiful bread!“

Gordy's Bakery and Coffeehouse Bakery • $

“A cute little hole in the wall cafe, prices are pretty on par with bigger coffee shops but I definitely feel better spending my money in a locally owned place. I had a medium sized vanilla oat milk latte and it was delicious, I also enjoyed a turkey and cheese croissant. The bread part was perfect, however I wasn't a huge fan of the turkey used in the pastry. The cheese was good tho! My three year old enjoyed their mnm cookie and he enjoyed it, I had a bite and it wasn't for me, but it was definitely for him. Would definitely return to this spot and I'd recommend it to others!“
