“In the 80's I ate here when it first opened. When they closed Mather Air Force Base, I relocated to the east coast. I brought my wife to California for her first visit. While we were in Rancho Cordova visiting Mather, I told her about Golden Bowls. She googled, and said it is still operated by the same family. It was! Johnny, whom I knew in the 80's cooked my food! What an amazing experience! It is a small place tucked in the corner of an old shopping center. Don't let the outside fool you. Golden Bowls is a great value. They are very friendly, accommodating, and clean. Your meal includes a bowl of many meat and vegetable choices and delicious seasonings, get two spoons of garlic, you won't regret it, a bowl of soup, rice, fried wantan, and ice cream at the end. We might go back tomorrow.“

“Sonora location. Tried when first opened and few weeks ago. It was clean (new) and great service. Re-visited yesterday and totally the opposite! Counter was dirty, all food was low. It was 4 o’clock and not busy. The cook, other gentleman and waitress was very unprofessional and unsanitary! The cook, yes while wearing gloves, continued to touch dirty services and our food. At one point he had his cell phone in his hand looking at it while cooking our food. Phone back in dirty pocket, touching his hair then back to cooking our food! The conversation between the three of them were load and unprofessional. I was so ready to leave! Definitely won’t be returning anytime soon.“

“This was my first time going to this restaurant. For those who aren't aware of this style restaurant, you order at the register, they give you a bowl, and you walk down a buffet style line of raw foods, filling the bowl with items of your choice. At the end of the line, they quickly cook your items. When we went to our table, they had placed silverware, napkins, and a bowl of rice, a chip and a spring(?) roll, along with sweet and sour sauce.
I enjoyed the meal, and will go back.“
