“What a great discovery Cocina Mama Cholita was! Just a small unassuming place on Mission St that we happened to walk into. The young proprietor had us sample all three enchilada sauces since we were unsure about which ones to pick. All three were delicious, but the the mole sauce was one of the best I had ever tasted. His grandma’s recipe, he said. Overall, a great experience! Serendipitous!!“

I had been fasting all day and just got out of my doctor's appointment around 530pm. I was starving on Taco Tuesdays😉lol. I looked up on Google best super tacos in San Francisco in the Mission area! Well,We'll, popped up with the most stars⭐️😉. I ordered the Tijuana style tacos🌮, handmade tortilla, grilled cheese, one shrimp🍤(Clean jumbo prawns👍🏽🍤❤️) and one steak, onions, cilantro and guacamole on the side. They were so nice💜! They even added in some chips when I asked do they come with chips. The chips were fresh and warm still. When I got home my food was still warm but I did have it in a warmer bag from doordash LOL. This restaurant was very clean and they also have the condiments of different type of sauces in clean squeezable bottles, self service packaging. Everything was delicious and seasoned to perfection. I think the reason most people like it and this has good reviews is just because they’re so starving waiting at DMV I am a very honest reviewer. Here are my reasons why…
- the salsa is not spicy
- the salsa is very thick
- the salsa was slimy
- the meat taste spoiled

“Los Metates has a decent taco salad $16. It tasted fine but it felt small. It is missing key ingredients like pico del gallo. Pico del gallo (tomatoes and onions) would have made this salad 2x better as it blends well with iceberg lettuce and gives is more flavor. It comes with free chips and two condiment cups of salsa. Both sauce cups were spicy. Service was quick as I was the customer at 6:30pm. One weird thing, the menu on the wall with the photos, some items don't have prices on them. For example, Quesabirria tacos are $8 each. I don't like restaurants where they don't put prices on their menu.“

Then I drove from Oakley to San Mateo to have them fresh. It was AMAZING! They provide extra stuff to add to the tacos, but it honestly didn’t need them. The meat was so tender & flavorful that I had to close my eyes so I could fully appreciate the taste. Then I added the extras one by one & it tasted like a new taco each time. I know it seems like I’m exaggerating, but it’s really that good! My only wish is that they had seating nearby & a second location closer to Oakley.“

“While visiting San Francisco’s Presidio National Park and the nearby Walt Disney Family Museum on August 11 2023, we came upon several food trucks parked up, one of which was El Fuego Authentic Mexican. It had the longest line of them all so we figured the food must be good. The delicious smell also was a big draw! We joined the long line and waited patiently for 15 minutes to be served. As we neared the truck, a lady crossed out the fish tacos on the menu - they must have been popular. We had to quickly rethink what we’d like to order. We went for the following (to share): 🌮 Combo de Lux 🥤 Mexican Coca-Cola (500ml in glass bottles) x 2 The Combo de Lux consisted of: Soft taco x 1 Mulita (sandwich taco) x 1 Quesabirria x 1 Consommé (broth) Pots of mild and spicy salsa We were given a pager so we would know when to return to the hatch. It was an exciting 10 minute wait while the tasty delights were freshly prepared inside the food truck. We took our food over to some large plastic rocking chairs on the Main Parade Lawn (opposite the Walt Disney Family Museum) and tucked in without delay. The food was incredible: full of birria-style beef, cheesy, spicy, tasty, juicy. We had to take great care when eating it, as it was a breezy day and we didn’t want to make a mess. The consommé was new to us. We didn’t dip the quesabirria into the broth - we drank it! The flavors were very rich, with a little spicy kick. El Fuego really was a good choice and just what we needed for lunch having walked many miles around San Francisco. These were our first authentic tacos in California and the benchmark has now been set very high!“

I have seen many locations across the bay area.

Food: Most of the foods are grilled or fried. All of them are tasty and fresh. Many fish choices, sauces, and sites to choose from. My favorite sauces are garlic butter and Cajun. The fish and chips are very good with tartar sauce. The grilled sea bass fish are very flavorful and would recommend having sauce on the side.

Price: very reasonable price for portions of food.“
