About Hoài Huế Restaurant

Hoài Huế Restaurant is a family-owned Vietnamese restaurant located in City Heights, known for its authentic and traditional dishes from the middle region of Vietnam. This spot offers a unique menu that stands out from other Vietnamese places in San Diego, with items you won't find easily elsewhere. The restaurant is especially praised for its flavorful dishes such as Bún bò Huế, Mì Quảng, Bánh Bột Lọc, Banh Beo, and Bún thịt nướng. Visitors often enjoy the rich broth of the Mì Quảng, where rice noodles are cooked just right and soaked in flavorful broth, with optional crunchy shrimp shells. The Bánh Bột Lọc, which are transparent tapioca dumplings with ground shrimp wrapped in banana leaves, are a highlight, offering fun textures and pairing well with sweet fish sauce. The Bún bò Huế is also highly recommended for those seeking a hearty, authentic experience. The restaurant's food is known for bursting with flavor, hearty, healthy, and fresh, with a good texture game that keeps customers coming back. The atmosphere is simple and welcoming, reflecting the local Vietnamese community. Service is friendly but minimal, and parking can be tight, usually requiring street parking. Despite these minor inconveniences, the authentic taste and quality of the food make Hoài Huế a favorite destination for those craving genuine Vietnamese cuisine in San Diego.

Good authentic food.
Great service
One of the few places in San Diego that does Bun Bo Hue well. They offer rice plates and noodle plates if you don't want bun bo. I have tried a lot of the stuff here, but I always go back to the #1 with the shrimp and cha.
We had takeout and had bun Bo hue and bun rieu. They give very large portions and at a very good price. The broth was delicious.
