Reviews for Tom's Chinese BBQ

This is a scaled-down version of a typical good Chinese BBQ place that you'd find in the Chinatown of a big city (New York, Chicago, San Fran), plus some bonus items. The duck, roast pig, BBQ pork... all excellent. In addition to the BBQ, it serves dim sum on the weekend (shu mai, ha gao, etc.), and it always has a few Chinese bakery staples (BBQ pork buns, coconut buns, pineapple buns). This place reminds me of special visits to Chicago's Chinatown when I was a kid, so I full review
I remember this mall from when I was in elementary school. There was an arcade here. I biked over after school to spend afternoons basking in the light of the video screens. There were few food choices back then. I return to my old stomping grounds as the food choices have improved. Tom's BBQ opened sometime after I moved to Mira Mesa. When I'm craving baked char siu bao I try to get here around 11am. You get them fresh out of the oven then. Pastry and the juicy char siu full review
Parents have been frequenting this place (albeit less recently) since the 80s. We live further up north so they've been coming here less over the years. I stopped here recently w/ my bf to pick up some of their famous baked char-siu baos, some dan tat (egg custard tarts), bai tang gao (fermented sweet rice cake), and a fried meat dumpling (xianshuijiao). The place is right next to Panchita's (Mexican bakery) and nothing about it has changed, from the spartan interior to the full review
