However, I would recommend this place more for meat eaters. Although there are several vegetarian options, the vegetarian dish that we ordered was average. In the flip side, the beef based dishes are all outstanding!“

“There is a wait if you go inside the restaurant but it’s worth the wait! I ordered the Sampler plate the #1 it had a big portions of each item everything tasted delicious the cornbread was moist and the garlic bread was toasty. “The menu has a solid selection of meats and seafood. The highlights for us were the 5-Spiced Marinated Lamb, Marinated Pork-Belly, the Sweet Spicy Cajun Chicken, and the Cumin Squid—all packed with flavor and cooked beautifully over the charcoal, which provided a unique, smoky-char flavor. The sides/appetizers (Rice Paper, Beef Soup, Steamed Egg, House Salad) were similar to what you’ll find at most Korean BBQ places, but the Boiled Whole Peanuts were a pleasant surprise. They were perfectly boiled and had a great texture. As for the sauces, I highly recommend their House Garlic Sauce, Sea Salt Sesame Oil, and House-Spicy Powder, which pair well with their vast meat menu.
One thing to keep in mind is that the restaurant is pretty small, so it is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to arrive as early as possible since it can get crowded very quickly. My group ended up waiting about 1.5 hours for a table. Despite the wait, the food was excellent, and the staff was very accommodating, attentive, and professional throughout the experience.
Overall, this spot is definitely worth checking out if you’re looking for something a little different from the typical KBBQ experience.

“This is a hole in the wall. Line up and get your food and take it out to the outdoor public seating. They have an eclectic mix of (I want to say) Filipino barbecued pork, barbecue, chicken adobo, curry chicken, spicy chicken, some kind of sausage, fried rice, plain rice, chow mein. The barbecue pork is so expletive delicious! It has a sweet and charred flavor.“

“Overall, this La Mesa location it’s not too bad. It’s pretty good. The barbecue beef again. This is a college area and yet this one in La Mesa beats the one located in La Jolla so something‘s going on over in the expensive area where they’re cheating the value or the quality where you have El Cajon and now here in La Mesa much better quality service is pretty good in the atmosphere. It’s it’s giving me that Hawaiian vibe a little bit so watch out expensive living areas you gotta pick up your game and stop being cheap.“

“This was our go-to spot before the game and it didn’t disappoint. Super fun atmosphere with interactive games to play with friends, and the sliders were actually really good. Tons of TVs so you don’t miss any of the action. The best part for me was the open rooftop — gave it that outdoor feel without having to deal with the heat. Great vibes all around!“

“HIDDEN GEEEEEM!!! This place is inside a grocery store which is unusual find but, hear me out... one of the best places for Chinese food. They have combo meals, and also ala carte meals and it just doesn't look and feel authentic, but it literally takes you to China, or Hong Kong. One of the best pork chops ever and also the steamed vegetables are so tasty! I would definitely go here for a quick lunch grab or a good sit down meal.“

“Located near the sdsu campus, this location is accessible to students and community members alike. The food was fresh and the katsu had a delectable crutch that left a good taste in my mouth. The cashier was a kind soul that made our L & L experience one that we’ll never forget.“

“I have nothing but sweet words about this place. I am a tourist here and have tried another Nigerian restaurant that was not much to write home about. I ordered ogbona and egusi for myself and hubby and it tasted like home food.
The portions were big too and we could have shared a soup instead of buying two meals.
Customer service was good though the setup does not encourage physical contact. A sweet young boy came out to inform us that our order was being prepared.

Ordering was easy via the kiosk in the waiting room and wait was not too long.

Worthy to note is that there are multiple food places in the same place and they each have their ordering kiosk. You Order & pay online or via the kiosk and your food is brought out to you.

Food is a bit pricey but worth it. Will return again but hope I can get my chinchin this time.“

“This has been my number one place to go to for the most delicious and most freshly cooked, roasted pig, regular, whole-roasted duck, and whole roasted-open duck in the whole San Diego county!! I also like their roasted pig feet and head!!😋 I have been going here for about over two decades. I have not tried their other dishes though. My favorite dish is their whole, open roasted duck!! It's really tasty and has a lot less fat than the regular, roasted one, but it still has the right amount of moisture and flavor in the meat, except the head. The duck head is sometimes dry if it is later in the afternoon. I usually get it during their first batch in the morning when they first open at 9:30am. The Cantonese lady who's also fluent in Vietnamese and English would always ask me if I want my duck to be cut. I like to watch her cutting the whole duck into nice bite sizes and all into a box nicely and neatly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes the dishes I mentioned here!“

“First of all, the moment we walk in, the layout and environment was beautiful and astonishing. The Buddha statue is cool and the painting was also pretty. Also there was a DJ which makes it even better. Anyways service was great and although they do charge for water which I’ve never seen before, the food was amazing. The sushi rolls and fried rice was delicious and the rest was great too. I would come back but would probably just try to not drink too much water.“

The Pig's Gig is located in the Liberty Mall, just a small cubical that's hopping. Just one fellow who is pleasant and rockin' it! Dining in requires a little hunting for seating, but once you pop the 'to-go' box it's so worth the search! Weekday there's plenty of parking, weekends gets a little hectic.“

“One of the best hotpot places I’ve ever eaten at!! The meats are incredibly delicious and although the stations for picking your own foods is slightly limited compared to other places, it is more than made up for by their meats available. The fish was incredibly soft and the lamb was very flavorful. They also have milk tea and calico on tap basically. And for dessert, there is self-serve Ice cream. The available flavors are butter pecan, strawberry cheesecake, mint chocolate chip, and cookies and cream.“

I don't even think this place needs my review, but Yelp said I only needed one more review to unlock some Korean Restaurant badge, so here I am thinking about SongHak again haha. This place is seriously clean, and the staff are always polite, respectful, and attentive to both the food and the customers. I usually come here for date nights with my wife or family dinners. Honestly, imagine enjoying good BBQ and cold beer on the weekend, then walking around Convoy afterward... life feels pretty great sometimes.
Wishing the business continued success and that the food quality always stays this good. Oh and parking around Convoy during meal hours is an absolute nightmare but luckily I'm an angel at finding parking haha.“

“I stop here every time I’m in San Diego to see Chris and Chris (my favorite bartenders) and get my bbq and BS fix. The bbq is on-point for KC style bbq. I know because I grew up in KC. But before you walk in here, maybe you should ask yourself a few questions in order to spare this amazing place future weird reviews:

Am I afraid of bras? Will my life be diminished by reading a few irreverent bumper stickers? Am I put off by people who are unapologetically authentic? Do I prefer whitewashed, soulless, corporate places? If your answer to these questions is “No” then you won’t regret stopping here. If ya do stop, give Chris and Chris high fives and hugs for me!“
