“If you are looking for authentic Salvadoran food, you absolutely have to give Cuscatlan a try. This place is a wonderful little hole-in-the-wall, and it easily serves the best pupusas I’ve ever had in San Diego!

The food is incredibly delicious and packed with flavor. It's not just the pupusas either, everything from the savory beans and fresh salsa to the perfectly seasoned curtido and sweet platanos is outstanding.

“Came here for one reason and one reason only - the chicken and waffles. No line and we were able to walk right up on a busy Saturday night to place our order. We placed an order for their chicken and waffles and a 4 piece beignet. Wonderful service the cashier was very pleasant and made small talk with us while we waited. Snagged a small table around the corner and began to chow down and here’s what we found - Outstanding crispy and perfectly breaded chicken (with bones). What we also unfortunately found is the thinnest and tasteless waffle you could ever imagine. I’m talking mini eggo-waffle thin. We were so bummed out that we could barely taste the waffle when combined with the chicken. Would we come back? Probably not. Work on your waffles or take em off the menu! The little fried dough was exactly that, although they were warm they were dry and were in desperate need of some sauce.“

Went here with my other half around 5:30–6 PM on a Sunday and had a really solid experience. Took advantage of their happy hour and grabbed a beer 🍺—great deal.

We didn’t order too much since we had an event after, but we tried the soon dubu soup, honey jam wings, and some rice on the side. The wings were the clear standout—easily one of the top three wings I’ll remember 🔥 Super crispy even with the sauce, great smoky flavor from the peppers, good size, and the batter-to-meat ratio was spot on. Everything was cooked perfectly.

The soondubu was excellent as well—perfect portion size, well-balanced, not too spicy, not too heavy, and served at just the right temperature with a really clean, flavorful broth 👌

The space has plenty of seating whether you’re going as a couple or with a group. The service felt small-scale and homey, which made it really comfortable. Our waitress was friendly and patient, and the overall vibe felt very family-oriented.

You can tell it’s a popular spot too—steady flow of dine-in, takeout, and delivery orders. Location-wise, it’s tucked behind the UTC area with plenty of parking and not much traffic, which makes it easy to get in and out.

If you’re looking for a casual weekend food stop or a quick lunch or dinner bite, this is definitely worth checking out. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu 👍“

“My husband was in a business dinner and they walked some of gaslamp afterwards. After they parted ways, he needed to use the bathroom so he ran in the closest restaurant. They said he couldn't use it unless he was a customer. I totally get that but they were packed out so it made no sense.... Either way, he bought a chicken quesadilla to go. He brought it back to the room for me and our sons to have. It tasted good...until my youngest son spit out a piece of plastic he found inside the quesadilla. My Husband called about it the next day bc they were then closed. Their response was "oops sorry" like wth?! They then said "bring it back along with the plastic." No mention of a refund or investigation of how it happened. And by that point, room service had come and took the box of the rest of the food plus no one wanted to fight downtown traffic and pay to park to have them possibly offer us another quesadilla . 🙄 Again the food we did eat, minus the plastic, was good but the service wasn't.“

“Visiting family from the East Coast and my daughter took me here today. I was stationed in Daegu South Korea for 2 years while in the Army. we used to get bb.q chicken almost every weekend. The kids loved it and so did I. This was my first time having it in 8 years and it immediately brought me back to being in Daegu. The food was amazing and brought us right back to being there. “We have been HUGE a huge fan of a local crawfish restaurant for as long as they have been open, and have gone frequently over the years. Recently we have been looking to try some of the other crawfish places around. Not only did the Boxing Crab have flavorful sauces to choose from, top quality freshness, the best cooked crawfish we have had in a restaurant, (even better than our regular spot), and their service was wonderful! Plus the bread sticks are very yummy and hard to resist as well... Great for absorbing all that leftover sauce. “I initially wanted to go to Gong Cha but it was too far away from my location. I'm glad that this was the case because I ended up finding this gem of a place. The spot has a chill vibe and it's set up for you to hang out with a few small games and old magazines. In the background, they had old/retro video game music playing, like from Final Fantasy and other popular games, that added to the ambience. Also, this is only my second time being to a bubble tea shop but unlike Gong Cha, they have food here as well which was a plus. Furthermore, the owner is friendly. Definitely recommend.“

We ordered 2 Pepsi, 1 Hawaiian, 2 orders of bread sticks, and 20 bbq wings along with a 2L MUG for a large group. pizza was good, we got extra cheese and well done crust which was the perfect amount of cheese and crunchiness, although I do not know if it costs extra for extra cheese. the breads sticks were also good, we got them well done but they were overdone in my option. my bad. the wings were ok. the glaze was good but the chicken quality was not good. service was good, girl working the counter was friendly. I would come here for cheap and greasy (in a good way) pizza in san diego that won't break the bank.“
