From the first bite, it was clear that Heritage excels at layering textures and flavors in unexpected ways. The meal began with an Amuse Bouche trio: a delicate prawn cracker topped with sweet Dungeness crab, a green leaf with another seafood salad that was to be eaten like a mini street taco, and balanced with the brightness and light crunch of pickled turnip. A seemingly simple couple of bites, but one that foreshadowed the precision and thoughtfulness of the courses to follow. To cleanse the palate, a mint tea infused with palo santo was served—a meditative interlude that was both refreshing and aromatic, setting the stage for the evening’s journey. The first official course, Crème Caviar, featured Russian Sturgeon Heritage Caviar and chive, a chilled preparation that was rich yet elegantly restrained. This was followed by Kanpachi Crudo, presented with carrot, ginger, and macédoine vegetables, offering a balance of clean ocean flavors against bright, vegetal undertones. Then came what I consider the star of the evening: a dish that fully captured the ethos of Heritage—Hen of the Woods Mushroom, topped in a “sunchoke stew” (crispy fried sunchoke) with fermented mushroom. For an additional $25, an indulgent shaving of black truffle took the dish to another level, transforming it into a sensory experience that evoked the deep, earthy satisfaction of foraging. The interplay of umami-rich elements made this course a masterpiece of textural and flavor contrast. The proteins that followed were executed with equal care. First, a perfectly prepared Rainbow Trout, sauted to perfection with a crispy layer of skin on one side, delicate pink flesh on the other, bathed in a delicate dashi and punctuated with bursts of smoked trout roe in a light creme sauce, which lent salinity and depth. Then, a 32-day dry-aged rib chop, a cut that can sometimes lean too “gamey” in the tradiinal steak house that cuts corners on a post aging trim, yet here was a revelation—tender, deeply beefy, but balanced. Accompanying the dish was sous vide endive, black garlic, and a shaving of Parmesan, which surprisingly lacked the usual sharpness, instead presenting a more rounded, delicate, nutty flavor. Desserts were a study in technique and balance. The first, a Grilled Strawberry with strawberry granita and Meyer lemon crème, was bright and refreshing, its layers revealing different expressions of cool and sweetness. Then came the Coco Craquelin, a delicate choux pastry filled with beurre noisette ganache and banana cremeux, meant to be eaten with the hands—a playful and interactive moment in the meal. We started with the calamari, which we both loved, followed by the fish of the day (sea bass) for her, and the filet for me—both were cooked to absolute perfection. Everything was flavorful and beautifully done without being over the top. The service was also fantastic. Roberto and Antonio were super attentive and friendly, which made the night feel even more special. We wanted to treat ourselves, and this place really delivered. “Came here for Brioche with ricotta, honey, and pistachio. Got two croissants which were Strawberry & cream and Bacon & onion for togo. For Brioche I requested for honey on the side because I prefer to adjust the sweetness by myself and it was perfectly scrumptious. Millions out of ten! Brioche itself was soft, buttery, and tasty so it complimented very well with ricotta and honey plus a bit crunchy from pistachio. Oh one bite and I was blown away. My taste buds were dancing happily. Let’s talk about croissants. Normally, I tend to like savory croissants more than sweet croissants. However, after I tried both of them, strawberry and cream is the winner. I really like the filling. I’m not sure if it’s mascarpone or something else that went really well with strawberry jam. It’s so freaking good! Bacon and onion croissant was not bad at all but as I stated earlier, strawberry & cream is the winner for me.“

The owner was so incredibly kind and helped us pick out the right things to feed 30+ people, was super responsive via email, and even met us in person when we picked up our order to offer her heartfelt condolences. They went above and beyond to help make this difficult day easier and we were blown away not only by their compassion, but the quality of their baked goods! The memorial guests devoured everything and many of them remarked to us how great the food was :) I can't recommend Cara Mia enough and hope to visit again under happier circumstances. “The Dragonfly Thai is a local takeout/ eat -in establishment. Hubby and I ordered two different dishes. His was flavorful and well-received (Thai Kung Pao). Mine, Pad Thai with tofu, was rather bland and I needed to keep adding additional sauces to enhance the noodles. I ordered extra vegetables (paid extra) - and frankly it was hard to see what were the extra veggies and which were the ones that came with the dish. The staff were very kind and business was busy. I would go back - but not order the Pad Thai.“

“Another hidden gem in Long Beach with the softest, freshest, donuts! My daughter got a mango smoothie drink, it was huge, delicious, and perfectly creamy. Everything is affordable and they have so much to choose from! They have everything you need! My daughter said the donut holes just melted in her mouth. They are so soft, they really do. The flavor of the dough is really good too. Some places taste off or the icing is thin and bland but here, everything tastes perfect, fresh, and flavorful.“

Tacos and tortilla soup are my favorite Tuesday go-to...along with the award-winning house margarita - the absolute best...but the Silver Lightening is even better!
I strongly suggest people try the salads and the fusion part of the menu - the pasta dishes are amazing! Pasta California, Lasagna, the bosillios, ravioli - all freshly made locally. The potstickers and eggroll are great, too!

“The pizza is very good. They have unique toppings like charred pepperoni and green olives which is great. Any place with green olives is awesome. However sometimes the consistency of the pizza quality and the service can be hit and miss not consistent. The Redondo Beach location has a strange smell to it. They claim to have fixed it but who knows what that was. The mobile app also has problems sending the wrong topping orders. Not sure if they ever fix that either. I had two different orders that were messed up because of this. I deal with the negatives because the pizza is very good.“

“Last night, I came to celebrate a friend’s birthday. It was my first time eating here, but it was AMAZING! I love Italian food and the best part is it was authentic! Adrien and Sacha (the owners), were sooo helpful and friendly. I LOVED their French accent! They were also very patient with us since we were a pretty big group (and loud). The ambience felt like I was in Paris, lighting not too dark, but not too bright. Very romantic! I LOVE that they are child and stroller friendly. Most restaurants won’t accommodate having a stroller which can be frustrating. I will definitely come here again for a date night with my hubby! Highly recommend!!!!“
