This intimate dining experience is a testament to ingredient-driven, technique-forward cooking, where flavors are both restrained, unpretentious, and deeply expressive. From the first bite, it was clear that Heritage excels at layering textures and flavors in unexpected ways. The meal began with an Amuse Bouche trio: a delicate prawn cracker topped with sweet Dungeness crab, a green leaf with another seafood salad that was to be eaten like a mini street taco, and balanced with the brightness and light crunch of pickled turnip. A seemingly simple couple of bites, but one that foreshadowed the precision and thoughtfulness of the courses to follow. To cleanse the palate, a mint tea infused with palo santo was served—a meditative interlude that was both refreshing and aromatic, setting the stage for the evening’s journey. The first official course, Crème Caviar, featured Russian Sturgeon Heritage Caviar and chive, a chilled preparation that was rich yet elegantly restrained. This was followed by Kanpachi Crudo, presented with carrot, ginger, and macédoine vegetables, offering a balance of clean ocean flavors against bright, vegetal undertones. Then came what I consider the star of the evening: a dish that fully captured the ethos of Heritage—Hen of the Woods Mushroom, topped in a “sunchoke stew” (crispy fried sunchoke) with fermented mushroom. For an additional $25, an indulgent shaving of black truffle took the dish to another level, transforming it into a sensory experience that evoked the deep, earthy satisfaction of foraging. The interplay of umami-rich elements made this course a masterpiece of textural and flavor contrast. The proteins that followed were executed with equal care. First, a perfectly prepared Rainbow Trout, sauted to perfection with a crispy layer of skin on one side, delicate pink flesh on the other, bathed in a delicate dashi and punctuated with bursts of smoked trout roe in a light creme sauce, which lent salinity and depth. Then, a 32-day dry-aged rib chop, a cut that can sometimes lean too “gamey” in the tradiinal steak house that cuts corners on a post aging trim, yet here was a revelation—tender, deeply beefy, but balanced. Accompanying the dish was sous vide endive, black garlic, and a shaving of Parmesan, which surprisingly lacked the usual sharpness, instead presenting a more rounded, delicate, nutty flavor. The staff was helpful and tried to keep up with the busy crowd on an early Saturday morning .

“We ordered our food to go but sat in the lounge area outside to eat our pastry and sip our coffee. Our cashier offered to bring out my peanut little once it was done. It was delish!!! The gf vegan chocolate muffin was not lacking and I would definitely get the chocolate goodness again. It wasn't dry and was ooey gooey. The coffee was delicious too. Even the drip. The patio was also dog friendly.“

“Wow so freaking good!! Genuinely the best bowl I’ve ever had. I got the mixed grilled chicken bowl with lemon thyme sauce while my boyfriend got the same but with the chipotle sauce. Both were great! Pretty cute they wrote a little thank you note on the take out box too:)

If I were to complain about anything it would be to add a little more protein portion to eat bowl. Otherwise I highly recommend this place!“

“Cara Mia catered my mother-in-law's memorial service beautifully and on quite short notice. The owner was so incredibly kind and helped us pick out the right things to feed 30+ people, was super responsive via email, and even met us in person when we picked up our order to offer her heartfelt condolences. They went above and beyond to help make this difficult day easier and we were blown away not only by their compassion, but the quality of their baked goods! The memorial guests devoured everything and many of them remarked to us how great the food was :) I can't recommend Cara Mia enough and hope to visit again under happier circumstances. “Another hidden gem in Long Beach with the softest, freshest, donuts! My daughter got a mango smoothie drink, it was huge, delicious, and perfectly creamy. Everything is affordable and they have so much to choose from! They have everything you need! My daughter said the donut holes just melted in her mouth. They are so soft, they really do. The flavor of the dough is really good too. Some places taste off or the icing is thin and bland but here, everything tastes perfect, fresh, and flavorful.“

“The Dragonfly Thai is a local takeout/ eat -in establishment. Hubby and I ordered two different dishes. His was flavorful and well-received (Thai Kung Pao). Mine, Pad Thai with tofu, was rather bland and I needed to keep adding additional sauces to enhance the noodles. I ordered extra vegetables (paid extra) - and frankly it was hard to see what were the extra veggies and which were the ones that came with the dish. The staff were very kind and business was busy. I would go back - but not order the Pad Thai.“

Adrien and Sacha (the owners), were sooo helpful and friendly. I LOVED their French accent! They were also very patient with us since we were a pretty big group (and loud). The ambience felt like I was in Paris, lighting not too dark, but not too bright. Very romantic! I LOVE that they are child and stroller friendly. Most restaurants won’t accommodate having a stroller which can be frustrating. I will definitely come here again for a date night with my hubby! Highly recommend!!!!“

“The pizza is very good. They have unique toppings like charred pepperoni and green olives which is great. Any place with green olives is awesome. However sometimes the consistency of the pizza quality and the service can be hit and miss not consistent. The Redondo Beach location has a strange smell to it. They claim to have fixed it but who knows what that was. The mobile app also has problems sending the wrong topping orders. Not sure if they ever fix that either. I had two different orders that were messed up because of this. I deal with the negatives because the pizza is very good.“

And you could taste so many layered flavors and not just the spice! I thought it was EXCELLENT. Also loved the side of avocado mac salad.
