“We had a very long tiring trip through the mountains just to get to our lodge in Lucia because we had to avoid the landslide closure on Hwy 1. It was exhausting driving, then 2 hours at the Hearst Castle where you aren’t allowed to eat or drink anything. .. no coffee anywhere on our route… just to find out the castle cafe was closed when we got back from the tour. I said all that to say this.. The young man behind the counter was closing and the look on my face must have spoke to him because he quickly told me he would make us food and me an Americana.. first his kindness brought tears to my tired eyes and secondly that coffee was THE BEST I’ve had. The hot sandwiches and fresh salad were delicious and the portions were large. We took half of it back up the lodge to eat later. This one decision by him to accommodate me and my grandsons completely turned this stressful day into a much better one. The cafe and store were clean, bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. The staff were friendly and helpful and the area around the cafe and store is peaceful and attractive. Plenty of parking and the walkways were easy to navigate. I highly recommend this establishment and look forward to visiting again.”

“A veritable dining institution in Cambria, you simply must make time to wait in line and dine at one of the best sea food restaurants in the state. And wait in line you certainly will, there is an incredible line outside of this restaurant every single night, show up 1-2 hours early and get in line, the best experience is sitting at the Oyster bar, chatting with the chefs and watching them work their culinary magic. The food is outstanding both in seasoning and cooked to perfection. We had the fried calamari as an appetizer, the petrole sole and the halibut, everything tasted great and was well apportioned. There is a reason that people are willing to wait 2+ hours for this dining experience. Staff are universally friendly and charasmatic. I cannot recommend enough that you take the time to enjoy this dining destination.”

“Robin’s is phenomenal on so many levels. The cuisine is out of this world with so much variety. The team is extremely kind, professional, knowledgeable & fun. The ambience is absolutely stunning and so peaceful. The music is fun & uplifting. To top it off, Shanny, the owner, is a leader in contributing to worthy causes. She always generously donates food, time & heart to those in need of support. Even the fire in SO Cal. We love her!”

“Found this restaurant with a Google search and noticed reviews were hit-or-miss, so we took a chance to see where it landed...for a birthday event.
Between the halibut and stuffed chicken, we were at 50%. We ended up swapping meals to see if one was more palatable. The stuffed chicken, which was recommended by others, was overdone. I ended up with it having originally ordered the halibut. The chicken also had blue cheese in the stuffing, which isn't my favorite. The server nicely discounted the stuffed chicken as the ends were too chewy to eat.
The halibut was a bit salty but was cooked nicely and gad giid flavor. The sides were ok but with a little TLC, it could have been better.
The dessert, a flour-free, chocolate cake, was kind of average but was free for the birthday celebration.
The location is convenient at the end of downtown and the ambiance is nice. The server was very accommodating and friendly.
Unfortunately it wasn't a successful event.”

“I always look forward to a meal at this homey place. My friend from his Cambrian days, John Brannon, recommended the hamburgers, and even though I was primed for breakfast I had the Mushroom Burger. Delicious, and the friendly waitress volunteered that I could order onion rings instead of fries at no additional charge. It was a great choice!”

“So, we originally stopped at Robin's but were told they were short staffed and there would be at least a 10 minute wait. There appeared to be empty tables everywhere though. So, we headed around the corner to Creekside Garden. The staff was friendly and helpful. The patio was comfirtable and welcoming. The found was so very good. My husband had a turkey fresno cheese sandwich with fries. The peppers were cooked perfectly for the sandwich and the fries yummy. I had beef fres.o and cheese sandwich with potato salad . The meat was perfect, peppers delicious and the potato salad was amazing. We will be back as the experience was better than we've had at Robin's.”

“An oasis…rolled into town after driving all day, and just wanted a beer. A good beer. Got exactly that.
I come from the land of Pliny and so many other amazing brews, it was nice to get to try something new. Fella behind the bar was chatty and attentive, even though we were the only people there. Location is kind of stale in terms of ambiance, but the beer is good and cold. Will visit again this vacation I am sure.”

“During our vacation in Cambria, CA, we explored several wineries, but our visit to Black Hand Cellars was a standout. After grabbing coffee across the street, we wandered into this charming winery and were warmly greeted by one of the owners, whose hospitality set the tone for an exceptional experience. Intrigued by their wine tasting, we dove right in, sampling their full range of wines. Each pour was a delight, with bold, memorable flavors that showcased the winery's craftsmanship. The unique bottles and creative labels, especially the Bootlegger which at that time was label-free; nod to prohibition-era charm, added a playful touch to the experience.

We couldn't resist purchasing a few bottles, including the Bootlegger, which paired perfectly with the season finale of MobLand, its rich, distinctive taste elevating our viewing night. The wines were so impressive that we're already planning to order more online. Beyond the stellar wines, the personal connection we formed with the owner through engaging conversations made the visit truly special. Among all the wineries we visited in Cambria, Black Hand Cellars stood out for its exceptional wines, warm atmosphere, and memorable hospitality. “we go here exclusively for ice cream. The only time we are disappointed is if they are closed. Ice Cream is delicious. I get mine in a cup but cones are available. You can sit out front or wander down Main St. Very friendly and look forward to new additions to the shop (chocolates).”

“So we came here hoping it wasn’t too busy and luckily was met with an Allegretto winery tasting. Cheese pairings all great, along with the wine rep and the Madeleine waitress. Excellent and would go back. Burger and dessert also very good. Plus she played good music & got the fires going.”
