“I've been here multiple times the past year, and they never fail to impress! The food is great, and being able to control your own portions for the sides is a huge plus. The music isn't deafening at all and the we were never left waiting to be served.“
“Good service is hard to find and excellent service is impossible, however the staff at Tabu Shabu delivered excellent service this evening. We were a group of 3. It was 20 min to closing and they welcomed us with a smile. The food was excellent. The flavors were on point. This was a 10 star out of 5. Great service is a lost art. This place is a gem. The staff understands the importance of creating a memorable dining experience.“
“I've been craving some fish and this had really hit the spot! I had gotten the sashimi bowl and it was really satisfying, the fish was cut into larger strips and it was tender and it didn't have a strong fishy smell to it. The rice underneath was quite good as well it was flavorful without being overly vinegar-y. Also if anyone was wondering what the difference was between the sashimi bowl and the sashimi set with rice (both of which are the same price), it seems like there's more rice in the sashimi bowl and there's some crushed seaweed and sesame seeds on the sashimi bowl between the rice and the fish. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side, I don't think I would bring more than 2-4 people with me.“
“Ok I don’t write reviews for local places because I am on the run all the time. HOWEVER, when something blows me away I like to promote them. OMG the gnocchi bread amazingness is unbelievable! I have had gnocchi before even in Italy but severed in a bread bowl OMFG that is amazing. The vibe is trendy low key. I think this is my new favorite restaurant in San Diego! P.S. wife had sushi and said it was delicious (I hate fish so no idea there but she likes it for reasons unknown to me?). Perfect date night or couples who have different palates. Just a great place you should go!“
“I cannot say enough about Domo Kitchen. The food has been great and the service is always good. The Won Ton soup on a cold night is just the right thing.Parking: There's just so much going on in the mall that parking can be a challenge some times.“
“Small neighborhood sushi spot with great sushi and sake! The sake specials are something to definitely take advantage of! Unfortunately the bang bang corn was not in season during my most recent visit, but we’ll be back in no time. It would be best to call for a reservation, as they do get busy.Parking: Parking sports in front of restaurant and neighborhood parking.“
“Amazing service and fresh food. Came here after hiking with our two year old and intended to take out, but he was so hungry we ended up eating at the tables outside. The kind staff checked on us the whole time and were very child friendly. We enjoyed an unagi bowl, chicken veggie bowl, avocado/salmon roll and Cali roll. Everything was solid and fresh. A very welcoming restaurant!“
“Amazing food and service. Been here a few times. The Bento boxes and ramen are both delicious. Would highly recommend.Parking: Plenty of parking in the Plaza parking lot.Kid-friendliness: Always very friendly and accomadating for our toddler.“
“First time here. We were exploring AYCE sushi spots and this one came up.We had their dinner AYCE at $37.99 pp, seating was ample when we were there. They gave us the option to sit at the bar or at a table of our choosing. You order the sushi via rounds but they did forewarn us not to overestimate the order as extra leftover is charged. After our 1st order was submitted, each dish came by at a moderate pace - the apps were first, then the nigiri and lastly specialty rolls. We tried their fried calamari and their chicken karaage.Calamari was crispy and well seasoned, but a little tough. Dish came with spicy mayo for dipping.Chicken karaage came with sweet mayo. Chicken was on the colder side and soggy. We ordered mostly nigiri with a couple of specialty rolls. My favorites amongst those was the mackerel and the salmon. Would recommend if you're a fan of either. Presentation was nice.Specialty rolls we had: Super Dragon Roll and San Diego roll - both were good, very filling.Staff was very nice. Waters were filled regularly. Both staff and managers checked in on us. We sat near the bar where the orders get picked up and there appeared to be some mixups in sushi orders.Overall, it was a great price for decent AYCE sushi, delightful staff and our bellies are filled!“
“We visited with friends and ordered a wide assortment of dishes: rolls (Tommy roll, Lemon roll, cut roll) udon, poke, miso soup, and also tried several appetizers: crispy salmon skin, edamame, and spicy edamame, fried gyozu, and assorted fried vegetables. The food was surprisingly well done, it was clear that great care went into their menu and dishes. Everyone was very pleased, and feeling very glad we gave this place a chance -- we'll be back!“
“Just stumbled upon this place after going to AMC for movie night. Was pleasant surprise. Service amazing. Had dragon roll, lots of eel. Had miso ramen. Better than most specialty ramen places. Great flavor and lots of meat and garnish. Bento box with chix teriyaki good. Recommend“
“What a wonderful surprise! Not being very familiar with Vietnamese cuisine and wanting to go to Vietnam, I wanted to start eating Vietnamese food. The salmon spring rolls were great - not crunchy like I would have expected. I then ordered the Saigon chicken noodle dish! Scrumptious! I couldn't determine what the sauce was made of but it is soy sauce-based. There is a free salad with the best tofu I've ever had. Also 2 choices of free flavors of ice cream for dessert. Fast service and generous portions. The restaurant is not very big and diners have written all over the walls. A bit grungy actually. One of the waiters is a kick! It's actually an Asian fusion restaurant with Thai and Japanese dishes, too. Definitely a place I'd go back to.“
“One the best places to eat in San diego. The grills are a little different from the usual Asian BBQ places. It gets dirty fast and it was a little cooking on one side of the grill more than the other.Food quality is AAA for sure.We ordered 5 to 7 types of meats and each times we enjoyed it.The rice ball is larger than expected. The shrimp was so fresh and huge.Garlic edamame, miso and gyoza were just as expected. The place is almost double the price of the other Asian BBQ places in the vicinity. At first I was a little hesitant but once the meets started coming and tasted them we knew the price was worth it for sure.Excellent service.Kids eat free.Refill drinks.Water is free.2 menu's 54$ and 65$ or so.“
“We showed up at a not busy time, and were greeted with friendly staff, and able to pick our seating. The pictures were extremely accurate to what came out for the sushi rolls and it wasn’t too overwhelming with how many options there were.I got two rolls and so did my boyfriend, I’m showing the spider roll, and the Hawaiian rolls here. Extremely delicious and totally would recommend getting!“
“Love this place. San Diego has no shortage of Sushi, but we make a point of coming here as often as we can! Service is great, the staff are attentive and friendly, and they ever remember our favorite seat and order when we come in Nothing quite like a comfy local restaurant like Kaki to make you feel right at home. I highly recommend the Black Dragon roll, Salmon Sashimi, and some hot green tea“
“The chicken katsu here is the best I’ve ever had in my entire life. The service is fantastic and the cooks are skilled and friendly. I love the cozy and warm atmosphere that this place provides, I look forward to going here whenever I’m in the area. THANK YOU GUYS!!!“
“Great sushi spot in Lemon Grove. Decent prices and fresh made sushi with good service. I’ve been several times over the past few years and would go back for sure.Vegetarian options: Delicious vegetarian rolls. I’m actually vegan and I still thoroughly enjoy eating here. The veggie roll is delicious.Parking: The parking out front stretches along the shops. Easy to park usually.Kid-friendliness: I’ve taken my son as a baby and most recently as a 7 year old. He loves it. His favorite is the Japanese chicken nuggets“
“For as long as I have eaten here, I always enter and leave satisfied. I highly recommend this place, as they serve quality ramen. And the customer service is top notch. The manager, David was nothing but welcoming and accomodating when he was helping me. As a matter of fact, the entire staff was friendly and respectful. Come by when you get the chance“
“Upon entering Henata Sushi, the ambiance immediately suggests a fusion of traditional Japanese aesthetics with a modern twist. The staff's warm greeting sets the stage for what is to be a delightful culinary experience. Today's choice from their extensive sushi menu is their much-talked-about Crunch Roll. The Crunch Roll is a masterful blend of textures and flavors. Inside, tender crab and succulent shrimp provide a sea-kissed base that is both comforting and indulgent. Each bite is an exploration of contrasts: the softness of the seafood against the crisp bite of tempura. The roll is then crowned with a generous sprinkling of crunch flakes, adding an irresistible texture that lives up to the name. But it's not just about the crunch. The sweet sauce drizzled over the top offers a glossy, flavor-packed glaze that complements the seafood without overpowering it. This sweetness is artfully balanced with a dollop of spicy mayo, which introduces a heat that slowly builds, lingering pleasantly after each bite.Henata Sushi's Crunch Roll is a well-executed dish that pays homage to the art of sushi-making while providing an innovative twist. It's a must-try for both sushi connoisseurs and novices alike, promising an experience that is as memorable for the palate as it is for the eyes. Moreover, the restaurant's kid-friendly atmosphere ensures that families can enjoy a fine dining experience that caters to all ages, making Henata Sushi a standout choice for those seeking a meal that satisfies every member of the family.“
“I'd keep coming back, especially for their spicy garlic edamame! I've ordered for take out and had a sit in moment and both times, I was very satisfied both in taste and customer experience. When I ordered for take out, the food was prepared a lot faster than others and packaged well, especially separating the "black" flavor, so I got to experience it blending with the base. When I came here for dine in, the staff were super friendly. Our ramen took a bit longer to come and the staff was super apologetic, she said she accidentally gave my husband's ramen to someone, hence the delay. I was super glad that they made us both wait so we can eat our ramen together, instead of giving mine then him waiting and just watching me. The staff was also super sorry so she offered a free drink on the house. We're both non-alcoholic drinkers so we just got soda. Overall, for my husband and I, it was a good experience. I give this place a 5-star because I will come back here again, and again. Not anytime soon though, but definitely will again lol.“
“The food is solid here, and we love coming before or after a movie. The service was great, they were very attentive. I had a Philly Roll and a Salmon Roll with crunchies added. Didn't love the crunchies it was a little too much. Next time I will just order without it, as I was trying to do something different. My hubby got a spicy mutha roll and spicy edamame and loved both. My kid got the OG ramen with all the toppings in the side except for the noodles. He like the broth but didn't finish all his noodles, but he's six.The ambiance is pretty middle of the road sushi joint. Clean, and spacious. It does have a few TV's so you won't miss the game if you are into sports. We come here quite a bit when we come up here for shopping or movies so will definitely be back.“
“I actually like the spot except the orange chicken which was a nasty or old and we also placed an order online and decided to pay the restaurant when we got there so then they call me and say it's a big order we need a credit card over the phone and they also said, do you wanna leave a tip? Order was only like $60 I guess but should I be tipping if it's a pick up order?“
“Amazing food! I don't normally leave any reviews but this place is fantastic. As a vegetarian is hard to find good meatless places to eat, but here they have options! I ordered the veggie crunch and it was delicious (and very filling) my husband ordered the caterpillar and he said it was delicious as well. If you are around Mira Mesa definitely stop by. That's all, keep up the good sushi! :))“
“I sat at the Sushi Bar for lunch. They have a large menu of non-sushi items that I cannot speak to. I tried a Tuna Maki Roll, a Spicy Tuna Roll and an order of ebi nigiri. The quality was much better than the typical stripmall sushi. They also had a nice selection of saki. Atmosphere gets 2 stars because of the lame muzak they had playing in the background.“
“What a delightful & delicious addition to the Grossmont's FoodCourt Center !!! This eatery spot only opens 2 days a week and the rest of the days you can catch them at a Farmers' market! so catch them whenever you can! Don't miss out on what they have to offer! The 2 entrees my husband and I ordered were flavorful and well seasoned. We both finished and left our boxes emptied and cleaned . The owner did an exceptional job by making sure if we had any food allergies when taking our orders. This is something that rarely happens where business owner take the cautious and careful step to ask and make sure customers are safe. So we really appreciated that very much! We can't wait to come back and catch you on the days the eatery spot opens! A MUST TRY!!!! :D“
“Best sushi place ever! The food and service is amazing!! everyone is so nice and friendly. our food came out so fast and was soo good. The spicy garlic edamame is the best I’ve had and the Samurai roll was amazing ?? overall the place is so good me and my friends loved it! I recommend everyone to go!!“
“Just discovered our local Japanese izakaya, Chiba! Prices are fantastic! And we were happily surprised the food was prepared well with food ingredients. The salmon teriyaki plate was so much food for a great price, salmon cooked perfectly, not overdone, and a big portion. Seafood ramen broth was delicious, though these noodles are not my favorite. Spicy salmon roll, solid. Seaweed salad, solid. And can't go wrong with large beers or large sake for around $6! Excellent service as well. Overall this is a go-to spot for us to take the family out, won't break the bank and we can get our foodie fix.“
“Such a great dining experience for sushi and sashimi. The fish is so fresh and the rolls are so unique, you will not be disappointed! My wife and I came here and we were provided with quick professional service while also getting recommendations that exceeded our expectations! I highly recommend this place and we will be back!“
“Traditional Japanese sushi place that reminds me of Tokyo (except the portion sizes are bigger). The menu is mostly a la carte, so you can select the specific fish you want, not some random, slow-moving items they're trying to get rid of on a "chef's special." Service is fast and friendly, and prices are reasonable for the quality. They have yakitori, which is bbq chicken on a stick and a popular Tokyo street food that is a bit uncommon in the U.S..“
“The food and the variety of rolls are very good. I tried the toro and it was so fresh and melts in the mouth. The restaurant is located in a busy plaza, so recommended for dinner more than lunch to find a spot for your car. Their service is fast and they have that nice ship which gives an amazing presentation to “
“I was walking back from a different restaurant already full and I noticed a sushi restaurant. I walked in and the jack of all trades Kei was the worker who gave me recommendations and made sushi. The best California roll I ever had and I've been to japan. Definitely recommend stopping by if you go to SDSU or live in the area.“
“Stopped here randomly on a Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised they had a lunch menu! I got the hibachi scallop and samurai steak with fried rice (they do charge extra for fried rice versus steamed rice).Service was great, very attentive staff. Loved the hibachi grill show!“
