17 Best Wineries near Shingle Springs

“I just had the best tasting experience at this winery. The tasting manager, Sean, is incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about what he does. I learned so much about myself and my tastes that I’ve never been able to put my finger on and now have the words to describe. I’ve never been sold on wine memberships before, but couldn’t help but sign up here. Wonderful experience! Their membership is totally reasonable, too. Such a fun day!“

“We have been long-time fans of this winery, but our most recent visit for our anniversary (it's been over a decade since we've been!) was so, so lovely. Hayley was so engaging and generous, the newer wines in our tasting were INCREDIBLE (hello, white Barbera!), and the grounds, as always, were beautiful. Go get you some wine here. It's iconic!“

“What an experience today at Story! David and Joey gave us a phenomenal experience from the moment my family and I walked in the door to the moment we left and not only did we experience amazing and unique wines but we were blown away by the food! Teleported to Georgia and were given a taste of the history and background of their home and the culture . 10/10 recommend and cannot wait to be back! Saureel Vineyards Wineries •
1140 Cold Springs Rd, Placerville - 6.8 miles

“I don’t know where to begin writing this, we could not recommend Saureel Vineyards and their staff more! We had our wedding here and there are dozens of reasons why we chose this venue, and I could think of a million more reasons I would choose it again if I had to do it all over. The scenery is unmatched, there isn’t a corner that doesn’t have the perfect backdrop. You get to stay at the property two nights, and ability to extend your stay like we did… which is a small fraction of the cost if you were to book hotels/airbnbs elsewhere for your wedding weekend. We stayed for 4 nights and I can’t tell you how at ease and stress free we were able to remain because of that. That was priceless. Jordan and her staff are incredible, they stepped right in when error occurred and solved problems within an instant. There was never a moment where I was worried if the day was under control. They also answered all of my questions promptly throughout the entire process and were truly more than day of coordinators. The Lakehouse is the best place to host your closest people as you celebrate marrying your best friend. Plenty equipped to host, stay, and enjoy your wedding weekend at the very same place where all the festivities take place. Which is so so special. If I could give one piece of advice to future couples, it is to choose a venue that you can stay at for two or more days, and Saureel is the best place to do it! The value of this venue is immeasurable, and we can’t wait to stay at the Lakehouse VRBO in the future and reminisce our favorite day!!!“

We arrived 30 mins before they closed, but said it was no problem. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. We will be back in October and probably join their club.“

Dry Diggings Distillery Distilleries • $$
5050 Robert J Mathews Pkwy, El Dorado Hills - 7.39 miles

“If I could give 10 stars I would. These people know liquor.

This is hands down THE hidden gem of your drive toward Placerville. 5 mins off hwy 50 in El Dorado Hills, in an unassuming business district, lies some of the best spirits produced in all of California. (That’s not just my opinion, they have won multiple awards for their liquors.)
If you think you don’t like a type of libation before going, I dare you to tell the person on the other side of their absolutely gorgeous bar, I love how knowledgeable, welcoming, and focused they are in creating some of the best liquors your mouth will ever have the pleasure of touching. “You’re welcome mouth”, is what you will be saying.

As the secret continues to get out, don’t you want to be the one who tells your friends about the best damn whiskey, gin, vodka, rum, brandy, and more, that you found and are now sharing with them? Because, if you go and do a flight, I would be astounded if you don’t coming back again. Buy a bottle, heck buy 2, as everything is small batch, it means everything is very limited before the next run, so you can taste the love that goes into each bottle.“

Gold Hill Vineyard and Brewery Pubs • $$
5660 Vineyard Ln, Placerville - 8.33 miles

“Honesty, Gold Hill Winery probably not the best one among the area, but it won’t be a bad one, cause there are many different types of the wine for tasting. Also, the owner, which is an old lady seems like a fun person, she waived my tasting fee since I went there on a Thursday. If one thing I not feel quite good, that might be the deposited ashes of the grape left in the glass. To leave the customer a better tasting experience, they could add a cap with filter on the top of the bottle of the wines, so those ashes of the grapes will not fall into the glass with the fluid.“
