“We had a great dining experience at Urban Plates in Long Beach. Mariana explained the menu choices in a very unrushed manner, and we decided on the steak. I ordered the Chimichurri grass-fed steak with balsamic brussel sprouts and herb-roasted potatoes. All of it was delicious ( and healthy too!). The deserts were absolutely killer too. We will definitely eat here again next time we're in Long Beach.“

So, we stopped by to visit some friends that live in the area and they offered to pick up some pizza for dinner and we said sure!

We stopped and picked up a few from this place and headed back to their place to visit. We couldn't get over how delicious these pizzas were, Oh My!

“This hidden jem will not disappoint. The food is on point and deliciously fresh and tantalizing! They have a menu that fits every type of eater, including vegetarian selections and healthy tidbits. For those who love to indulge, mouth waters glasses of ice-cold milk shakes dipped in chocolate await you, with leftovers in the container and a spoon! There are waffles with maple syrup, Hawaiian pineapple chicken sandwiches, Serrano peppers mixed in with scrambled eggs, and kids menu items that can feed two very hungry preschools from a single plate. I always have leftovers. And to top it off, the prices are pretty reasonable, especially for the huge portion sizes. When you pull up, you may notice that the lines may be long, but don't let that hijack your food craving. Stop the car and come on in! They have a fast system, and it works like clock work. I don't know if it's because they are located at the airport where people traditionally need fast service? Or if they carry on the excellence, always model from it being an early military insulation moons and moons ago! But it works! You place your order before you're even seated and pay right away. Then you have many opportunities for seating. You can go outside and observe the plans and helicopters up close and personal on the top deck. Or there are several covered see through patios. Each is well heated and ventilated. Or you can snuggle inside in a booth or at a table with friends. It's a pleasant atmosphere for families, friends or individuals. You can even find a seat at the counter and watch the food service in action. “We celebrated my mom’s 90 th birthday last night at Ottavios. We have had prior celebrations in the past, 44 years ago we had our Wedding Rehearsal dinner there ! The back private room is so nice to have a dinner party! We were allowed to arrive early and decorate. All the staff were very attentive and friendly! The food was delicious and huge portions! The service was excellent! I highly recommend Ottavios if you are looking for the perfect dinner party location!“

“Stopped at Honey and Herb while we were in California, and overall it was a very solid breakfast.

Everything we ordered was good. I would not quite call it great, but it was definitely above average and showed more thought than the typical breakfast spot.

The Bloody Mary was especially well done and had actual flavor instead of tasting like somebody poured vodka into tomato juice and called it a day. The waffles were another highlight. They were well thought out, properly executed, and just flat out good.

The pork belly had great potential, but I would have liked it cooked a little longer so the fat could break down further and turn it into that tender, sticky meat candy pork belly is supposed to be.

The only real downside was the wait. Breakfast took over an hour for a table of four, which is a long time to sit around getting progressively hungrier. Fortunately, the food was good when it finally arrived.

Honey and Herb was not a life changing breakfast, but it was comfortably above average, thoughtfully prepared, and absolutely worth trying. I would go back, hopefully on a day when the kitchen is moving a little faster.“

“First time trying this place and glad I found them on clover - got a vermicelli dish and a set of onigiris. Love the vermicelli, the egg rolls tasted amazing and all the herbs accentuated by the fish sauce just took this dish to another level. Unfortunately can't say the same with onigiris, something was off and it tasted as if they were not seasoned at all?

The shop itself is tiny and being in the middle of summer, it was already warm outside but inside was even warmer so I'm glad they have outdoor seatings“

“Food is excellent - pricey but well worth the money. Overall service also excellent as you’d expect from a fine dining restaurant. Servers very attentive and courses are perfectly paced. We loved that it was fine dining but provided both an elegant atmosphere indoors and a more casual atmosphere out on the patio. The bruschetta and fried calamari appetizers were fantastic. So was the Chicken Marssla w/mash and Grilled Salmon w/risotto. But the Grilled Rack of Lamb w/mash and the Chilean Bass w/risotto were just unbelievable!! We will definitely go back!“

“This is an overall great place for a group setting. It was too hot to eat outdoor but there is a nice patio. It's in a large shopping mall so not a particularly romantic setting. However, the meals are reasonably priced. We really liked the fact that we could have separate checks.“

“What a wonderful dining experience. Bee was our amazing server and host and she provided stellar service as did the chefs who were very kind and friendly. We started with drinks and soups. My wife had the hot and sour with tofu and I had the wonton with chicken. So yummy! We then ordered our entrees with beef with vegetables and Kung pao chicken. Both entrees came with rice and the dishes were plentiful and delicious. We took half of it home for tomorrow. Great place with a positive vibe and ambiance.

“What a terrific breakfast and popular spot for locals. This family run establishment has the ambiance of friendliness and good home town cooking. Sara was my amazing server and her associates kept my coffee cup full and were quite attentive as well. Sara told me that her entire family worked at the Cafe all let by her mom, her sister, her sister's bf and a few others besides herself. Great people, food and experience. I had the chicken fried steak with potatoes, scrambled eggs and sourdough toast. I also had a coffee and OJ. When you come here make sure that you bring your appetite because they don't skimp on the plates. I could not finish it all but it was delicious.
Sara was kind, professional, attentive and stellar in every way. The food was amazing and I had to walk 5 miles after the meal just to feel less full. I will certainly be back.
