“So, I decided to give this spot another try since the food was good first time. This time I opted to call at 530pm.... Google says open until 9pm. She said "We are closed! "Wtf it's 530! She said ok, I will take your order ...I said well I am driving 40 min away...she said okay! How sweet.., I asked for 1 oxtail dinner and 1smothered steak. Asked for yams and greens and mac and cheese. I got 3 sides Mac and greens only. Still grateful to, because I told her I only had some of the cash and she said it's ok and kindly sent me home! Main issue I have is ....I didn't get ANY gravy at all I had a comfort food craving and that entails lots of smothered gravy. I had to come home and make some gravy. I believe they have new owners because the name changed to Sol of Los Angeles. There is a buffet in Gardena...it's written on the wall!****Owners ****please update the hours on line ,I drove really far and they were closing hours earlier. I included a screenshot of the information given. I just tried the smothered steak I used to love and this one today is dry, unflavored and hard with no gravy. Oxtails we're very small and minimal, no gravy and overpriced for the value. Both these items total close to $40....“

“My family and I were in town and looking for a soul food place to try when we stumbled upon this restaurant by accident. We originally went into the location to order from a different cook (not realizing that it was a shared kitchen with several different restaurants inside) and that's when we were greeted by a woman offering samples of her food from this place and we loved the taste, so we bought our food from her. The food was really good and well seasoned. We were happy with our food choice! Give them a try!“

“If you like loud music, bustling, and energetic vibes, this place is for you. The food was good. I had the catfish platter, but I would not recommend the omelet. I had the Peach Bellini good drink, but I don't think it was worth 30 dollars even with the small bottle of Prosseco, maybe 20? Parking is a mess ??. And drinks were pretty huge as far as the Kool-Aid went. It's sweet, too. The wait wasn't too bad, either. Overall, I'd go back if I was invited.“

“LOVE the torta Nona. They said they needed more business and I've tried posting on social media/tagging them but don't respond/share/maximize the word of mouth. Hoping they find ways to draw in that business! We're missing out if we don't have them on this block! Only gave it four Stars for atmosphere because it's on a busy street and it's pretty difficult to cross either on foot or in a car.“

“Clean, cute, good service, yummy. I got the Bachos which like a Jamaican nachos. I never had Jamaican food to know but I liked it. Salty for me but I don't add salt to anything and the Frito type chips already come that way I think. I got the lentil as my protein, which was like crumbled falafel. The cheese sauce was like a salad dressing texture and flavor. Reminded me of Cesar salad dressing. I think I found a raisin in there and I didn't mind. Would definitely come back. “I love bludsos, have a great fondness for Robert earl's.... But the food I just had from Wrigley bbq was a life changing experience. I have never had burnt ends so good, ribs so flavorful. It was all amazing. After one meal I am a fan for life and will follow them anywhere. Plus they are genuinely awesome people which helps. Though they could be the devil incarnate and I'd still comeback for a Portland sandwich.“

“The food is great, a vegan take on soul food, but the wait is ridiculous. I've ordered many times hoping the wait improves, and as of current it hasn't. They open at 6pm and for me that is already late to have a meal, but worse I end up getting my order at least 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. after the designated pickup time. I truly hope the best, but I just can't roll with this.“

“The ambiance of this establishment is truly unique in the Los Angeles area. The tropical atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing and the cocktails are expertly crafted. Regrettably, the menu options are rather limited as several items are no longer offered so feels more like bar food than a full dinner menu. Nevertheless, the exceptional service provided by the staff is commendable. I highly recommend this venue for pre-dinner drinks with colleagues or for a casual evening out.“

“We live a block away passed by many times telling ourselves we should try that place, omg! It’s totally awesome! Starting from Shae the sweet waitress she was so kind and lovely and she spoiled us from the moment we entered the restaurant. Then the cook who’s the owner, they kept sending us samples from their home made savory food. Shae, we loved your attention we are coming back for sure many times! Don’t judge the place by it’s looks it’s a 40 year old place! I could give more stars if I could. Wanna post photos but I DK why Google won’t let me though.“

“I went for lunch with a friend during the week. It was near the holidays, so pretty empty. There was one guy working the tables and the service was fine (he was friendly but took his time to come over).They definitely give you large portions, which I was happy about. I had the jambalaya and my friend ordered the salmon croquettes. Both were seasoned well and the accompanying corn bread was delicious. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is because the chicken in my jambalaya had a slightly rubbery, processed taste/texture. Maybe I had a bad batch but to have such an important ingredient not work left me slightly disappointed.But I still enjoyed myself enough that I would go back again. I'd just have a different dish.“

“Went there today just before closing. Purchased oxtails with candied yams & rice and gravy. Excellent tasting, the gravy was delicious oxtails were falling off the bones and the candied yams were very good also. Did not really like the corn bread dressing. The hostess, Star was very friendly and welcoming. I'm from the Chi and recommend it highly. Price was right also.Looking for good food check Matthews at 2222 W. Rosecran out. “After ordering I came to check on the reviews and I must say that some people are very bored in life because all of the negative reviews didn’t match their character! Such a friendly young duo with the gift for amazing food, because this was the best soul food I’ve had ever since visiting LA. Just fire food and for those complaining about their attitude lol it’s very obviously stated how to order food and before walking in, maybe call and check if reading is to hard. “I specialize in the renovation of kitchens, but this is Grandmas country kitchen 2.0. Both a local market and an incredibly good southern inspired restaurant, be prepared to be warmed by the good spirit of true comfort food and energy of the old days... when food took time but every1 chatted away... It was my first time here, so I didn't get a chance to really experiment on food (chicken sausage, eggs, and pancakes), but it was pleasant. Good prices and a local spot you should not miss.“

“A great, classic style Jewish deli with easy parking in a convenient location. Everything is fresh and delicious. But what I love is how unlike a lot of similar places, the sandwiches aren't enormous. You can easily finish one of these sandwiches for lunch without feeling like you are going to explode.“

“We found this gem when we were in DTLA to see the afternoon showing of Alvin Ailey. It was raining and windy so our options for walking around to look for a place were thwarted. We passed the tent for this place and decided to give it a try. Initially it was more out of convenience as it had great warm heaters and was within steps of the place where the show was. To our pleasant surprise the food and service were incredible. They apparently change chefs every so often and we were lucky enough to enjoy Chef John Cleveland's dishes all which were excellent.The menu is small but perfect. Our waiter AKIL was fabulous! Super knowledgeable about food allergies (I am allergic to dairy and wheat) and so gracious. When we arrive he asked us: 1- if we were going to see a show so he could ensure we were out in time, and 2- if anyone had allergies. I told him about mine and he went to the kitchen and came back with a list of all of the dishes that I would be able to eat. How fabulous is that?I ordered the Crab and Asparagus, my husband had the Angus beef short ribs and our son had Mary's chicken. Everything was presented beautifully and delicious. I drink RYZE coffee and brought it with me, and Akil was kind enough to bring hot water and oat milk for us. If you are going to see a show, or in the area, this is definitely worth visiting.Dietary restrictions: I am allergic to dairy and wheat and our waiter AKIL went to the kitchen and came back with a list of all of the dishes that I could order! They can definitely accommodate! They also gave me oat milk for my coffee.“

“We had a large Slingshot group that was eager to eat. They accomodated us and we all LOVED our selections. We did have a long wait but BOYYY was it worth it. The mimosas are delicious and the side dishes are a good portion, the owners hospitality ended our experience with smiles. Long post but I bottom line is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! I live in the I.E. and cant wait to come back again.“

“We had the turkey, dressing, greens, Mac n cheese, yams, and chicken. The food was a solid 4.8.The greens do not have any meat and as flavorful, but I wish they were a little more seasoned. The dressing was very well flavored, but I wish it was a little less smooth.We arrived just as the restaurant was closing but the food was still really good. The husband and wife team were also very friendly! We will be going back the next time we’re in the area. ?“

“It's definitely good. The only problem is that our drinks have been wrong both times we've ordered from Postmates. I love the mini cornbread! The Mac n cheese is felt needed a bit more sharp cheddar for that extra kick, like Roscoe's. Everything else was delicious.“

“Best BBQ hands down! I have been getting my Que for over 3 years now. So much they know me by name and my order. I'm a no sauce person and a lot of places can't deliver that "wow" effect when it comes to seasoning. But Rowes seasonings is to perfection. All the sides are fire, my favorite is the potato salad. Plates are well portioned, for a great price. And we ain't gonna talk about the Peach Cobbler??. Gotta get there early tho, because by 3 or 4 some food can be sold, that's just how good it is. No cap, I have business I do bi weekly in the area and I never leave without going thru and grabbing a plate. Keep bringing that ? Que Rowe I'm a customer for life!!!“

“I finally got a chance to try this taco truck out. I have been seeing it all on instagram so I wanted to support this black owned business and also know if it lived up to the hype? Yes! First the service is great everyone was friendly and helpful. Also I didn't wait long. I want to say at the max I waited 6 or 7 minutes for my order to be ready. I ordered the LAtryguy special $27 + $1 for card. Which comes with 2 enchilada parm tacos (I got 1 steak and 1 chicken no olives or cilantro) and parm Doritos tacos (1 ground turkey and 1 chicken no onions or tomatoes) and a large kool-Aid fruit punch All of them were good but my favorite is the chicken and I did like the enchilada tacos the best. Very flavorful. My only con was the price. I felt like damn near $30 for 4 tacos is a bit much. To where I couldn't see my self coming here often to spend that on a regular. The food and service was really good and the kool-aid was the best I've ever had. But the prices will make me pause in returning.“

“Great alternative when you dont want to wait 3+hrs for The Boiling Crab , delicious food and great prices. My only issue would be that the host clustered all of the guests on one side of the restaurant and when i respectfully requested a booth instead of a table in-between two other familys she seems annoyed. Beside that the rest of the staff was nice and attentive.“

“A passerby saw us looking at the menu and said this place was IT. We went in and had the best fried chicken I've had in years--I could have ordered just the crispy, crackly skin and been happy. Plus, the candied yams were amazing! We're coming back to this place.“

“Passed by this place soo many times and decided to stop one day. Glad I did. I have a go-to black owned and affordable spot to get a good handmade fresh burger. Under $10, cant beat that and its definitely better than any regular burger stand with thin frozen patties. Thank ya Magic Fingers!!!“
