“Friends and I staying near here popped in for a quick drink on a Friday night (7pm) and had no issue finding a spot at the bar. Our drink orders were taken quickly and the atmosphere is really chill. I really enjoy the low warm lighting and wood look. I'm writing a review because my drink was DELICIOUS! I enjoy sweet flavorful drinks and the Pleasure Palace was a party for my tongue! Great dopamine hit, I highly suggest!

“I absolutely love this place. I read some of the low reviews because I couldn’t believe there were some. Yes, the price is high but that’s most bars in the city. And yes, it can take a while to order but that’s because every drink is crafted and presented with care. This place has some of the most unique drinks I’ve ever had. They are always changing up the menu and doing some fun pop up’s and themes. Customer service is exceptional, especially Leo. I love that it is not easy to find and that you have to know the password.“

“My visit to Novela was such a great experience! The layout is warm, inviting, and sexy. The sofas, library books, chopped wood, and comfortable chairs create such a unique atmosphere.

The staff was very friendly, and the punch flight was delicious. I really enjoyed the Caesar salad, although the crispy chicken sliders were a little too crispy for my taste. I would have preferred the chicken to be softer and more moist.

The live jazz band was the perfect touch and created a relaxed, laid-back mood. Overall, Novela has a great vibe, good drinks, and a beautiful atmosphere. I’d definitely visit again!“

“Was trying to find a place to watch the NBA finals with all of the Word Cup action going on. Bars in North Beach were jam packed and miserable to try and enjoy the games. Standing room only. Found Tony Nik's and happened to see two open chairs at the bar. Bar tender was great. He mixed us up some drinks he hadn't heard of (Batanga) and they were good. Met some cool folks that came in for a few drinks. Don't believe they had any food in there as we saw no menus or anyone eating. Probably just a good ole watering hole. Would definitely return.“

“I quit drinking before the judge ordered me to—how is that for initiative? Since that last call, no bar has captured my attention. Nor have I returned to any of the bars I enjoyed around here. I’m from the east coast—a pub near a rail station which draws a crowd free of pretense is proper nurture. Glen Park Station is welcoming, comfortable, fun, and built for a night done right.

There are non-alcoholic brews for those who abstain, shot-and-a-beer specials for $12.00, wine by the glass, and an indoor smoking lounge. A pinball machine which takes dollar bills. Darts. Superior bar stools. Table seating up front. A rear patio. No Apple Pay.The bar has neighboring businesses which serve food. One can find Vietnamese, Thai, and Mexican fare within a block. The bodega sits across from BART, on the same side of Diamond St. A pizza place is in proximity. This area has a low-key dominance about it. A great spot for socializing, a walkable pocket of the city wherein small businesses sling good eats, and you have the option to get hammered.

Parking is available in the public library lot after 6, 7, 8PM during the week. Street parking on the northbound lane of Bosworth between Arlington & Diamond is free in the evenings. I am not sure when the meters stop accepting payment-I pulled up at 7:30PM on a Monday.

To those behind the wheel—be advised—residential streets intersect as sharp turns become sudden hills. At all hours there are pedestrians, cyclists, and coyotes. SFPD often posts a patrol vehicle on Bosworth (south of the Arlington intersection) to eyeball the I-280 south on-ramp.“

“This is a FABulous, family-owned and operated bar that absolutely does take credit cards, despite many reviews (connected to prior owners perhaps) saying they don't.

We were there for Thanksgiving and Sully was working non-stop behind the bar, his wife turned the pool table into a Thanksgiving day spread that could have competed with grandma's dinner!

All were invited to a California-style holiday, where you could bring the family you chose to spend the day with, while making new friends if you were interested in doing that. No shopping, cooking or cleaning up. And amazingly they didn't even charge visitors for the meal!

Another guest brought an addictive, spicy, NOLA influenced oyster stuffing that we must come back for next year! OMG

I don't know if there's any food normally, but we were very lucky to have discovered this bar, any day of the year!

And with Sully and his wife's decades in this business, they've created a very friendly, but also extremely professional , local neighborhood bar. They've also lined the walls with great, music-themed photos and Bay Area concert posters that add to the vibe!

And while their Irish coffee is as good as The Buena Vista, the price is much more palatable !“

“Had the extreme fortune and pleasure of being served by Franklin well visiting the moon gate. He went far beyond his job description, since I am visually impaired he was kind enough to break down each and every drink by ingredient in flavour profile as well as he was kind enough to describe the aesthetics of the establishment itself. When I was in the moongate I felt like I was a friend as opposed to a customer. At this point I should mention the signature cocktails are incredible [Not to mention dangerous as some are incredibly smooth] A heartfelt thank you for being welcoming and not batting an eye when I entered with my seeing Eye dog. “There's more to this hotel-lobby bar than first meets the eye. A bit minimal at the ground level, with space for maybe only about 40-50 people at most (if crowded), it has a fantastic bar staff. We were here for a private event and got to explore some of the wilder cocktails, and even had one the bartender invented on the spot (bourbon, Aztec chocolate bitters, and some other things I missed seeing, garnished with a slip of lemon peel -- elegant and delightful). Upstairs there are several games, including a fun game where you can drop soccer balls into a gigantic version of the old handheld peg game where the pegs cause the ball to fall randomly into one of several scored containers at the floor below. (Completely safe for those mingling underneath unless someone is really stupid or malevolent.) A fun place to go if you want some more upbeat fun after eating next door at the Cavalier.“

Tonight my rating was 3.5 stars in service only because my sister and I got a lemon drop (not a double) and a tonic water and it was $35! The restaurant took it upon themselves to add gratuity automatically. I don't know if this is the rule in general or just the event, but regardless it was very off putting.“
