“I was visiting the LA area from Oakland, CA for personal business. I had numerous food choices to select from near my hotel. I’m so GLAD I selected this business. Although it wasn’t the easiest to find (ghost kitchen) the food more than made up for my difficulties in finding the location.
Also, I wasn’t particularly adept at navigating their website so I called and received very patient help in placing my order.
I ordered the Fried Catfish and Shrimp Dinner w/Collard Greens, Fries, and Cornbread.

The Catfish was seasoned well and fried golden brown. The Shrimp were large and fried similarly. Ample/generous condiments of hot sauce, tartar sauce and cocktail sauce were included.

The Collard Greens were tender and tasty and reminded me of the fresh greens I enjoyed from my Mother’s garden as a child.
The French Fries were actually seasoned fries and were tasty although my first choice of Mac N Chees was not available. I’ll make sure to get on my next visit.? The peach cobbler I selected for dessert topped my meal off perfectly.

Though my order was probably basic, the food quality, proportions, taste, and service rendered, I feel was exceptional. Thus, the review.

I live in the Bay Area of CA where I dine out 3-4 times each month. As an African-American, I support our businesses as often as I can. Though it’s taken for granted, SOUL FOOD isn’t as easy as it seems to prepare.

I went after the Fires to order Dinners for 3 Suffering families due to the loss of their Altadena Homes, and I order by phone.. I was quoted a certain price by phone... I was quite clear on what she said... However upon arriving at the Eatery to pick up my order... I was given a different price by the Owners Daughter... She has an extremely Smug and Nasty Attitude!!! And it's nothing new! Then she screwed up the 2nd order as well... Again... Her Attitude is extremely Smug and Nasty, I could care less if her father is the owner, I will not be spoken to or at as if I am a liar after having been A faithful Patron there! Her Huffing and Puffing as if she were some type of Dragon trying to put out a fire didn't bode well with me. When I went in I was being polite but after trying to explain the error in pricing and ordering she acted as if I were trying to get something for nothing, when I only wanted what was the original price quoted to me by phone and my order done properly. Then after almost 30 minutes she accused me of not paying for Yams! I thought she had rung them up so I brought them out to the car, she then asked... Did you pay for those? I said yes... Didn't you ring them up!? She no I didn't... But you can have them! I said... Certainly not! I took them right back inside and left them on the counter! If her attitude hadn't been so nasty I would have let it go... But she has very poor social skills! And you can't have Poor social skills when your in the Restaurant business should you choose to keep Loyal customers! Vidal, who is the owner I believe is a decent man , however when I called and left my phone number to speak with him 3 times... My call has yet to be returned, at the least... And I do mean least they could do is apologize!!! In any case.. I will take My $$$$ and all of my Church members and family, and Friends elsewhere to dine and tell them never to Darken the door of this Eaterie again until attitude adjustments are made ..if then! Folks... Go to where you are respected period! Stop settling for any old place no matter how good the food may or not be. I would rather have bad food and great customer service, than Good food and Horrible customer service! It's your choice!“

“Very surprised to read the bad reviews. Yes it's an older establishment but clean. The band was amazing! The service was excellent. There was no long wait for drinks or the food. The chicken was seasoned to perfection and not overcooked but juicy! I literally have zero complaints! I had agreed great time and can't wait to come back.“
