“Shaks came recommended to us by our wedding photographer. Upon finding out they were Armenian Lebanese (same as my family!), we knew we would book with them. As we lived out of the country, our parents went to the menu tasting and had the time of their lives. They came back raving about the place and said we have to book. Totally didn't understand the assignment of narrowing down the menu items we should have on the big day, lol. but that's a testament to how good the food is (especially the fresh falafel). Andrew was so helpful on calls, as he is very busy and emails weren't the best method of communication, and answered all of our questions, worked within our parameters and with a ton of integrity. The team was a delight on the day of and worked their tails off in the kitchen with a smile and in front of the guests. The food was a hit with the guest and I am still thinking about the garlic that I'm sure I smelled like on the wedding night because I just couldn't get enough, lol. The leftovers were awesome to have and to share with guests, too. We will be visiting Shak's when we're in the area as a nostalgia trip!!“

“My girlfriend and I LOVE this place! Discovered it by accident two years ago when I moved to Carlsbad… I live an hour and a half north now but still a mandatory stop for us anytime we are in the area! Everyone working there is so friendly and you can’t beat the service!“

“Ciao is our new local favorite Italian go-to. We are fairly new to the area, having moved from Carlsbad where there is no shortage of excellent restaurants, and Ciao is right up there with wonderful food! The atmosphere was nice, casual and comfortable , the staff is friendly and attentive, and the food was excellent!

We were also pleasantly surprised to find that they also offer delivery with the two big food delivery services, and the to-go food is almost as good as dining in. Serving sizes are quite large giving you at least two meals per order.“

“Found this location from a recommendation from one of the exotic tree nurseries down the street. Next to a main road but not to busy or intrusive on our experience. The food was amazing and most important. Fresh authentic, spiced really well and I could not be more impressed with the quality and the chef. Beautiful atmosphere on the flower filled outside cozy seating area. A great place to spend time with a loved one on a bike ride. Will be going back for sure when in the area for sure. We visited in the morning in April 2025.“

“We made the drive from LEGOLAND since this place had the best reviews in the area for pizza. It was definitely worth the drive. Louie, the owner, made some excellent pizzas for the family (including some picky kids) to enjoy. He knew the regulars by name, which is always a great sign.

The pizza was excellent, a thinner and crispy crust with a good amount of toppings. The pepperoni was perfectly caramelized with a bit of crunch, just the way I like it. Great service too, with a quaint atmosphere.

I will go out of my way to come again on our short trip from out of town.

Kid-friendliness: Plenty of kids and families dining here. Lots of TVs to distract them with too.“

“Love these Tortillas! always find them in local grocery stores and my kids love these. i decided to check out the location after seeing its a local in vista. place is a little hidden but made my way to the office all the way in the back. lucky for me the tortilla size i wanted was just being made and they gave me one as soon as it was packaged! only thing is if you want corn tortillas you should get here early since they make some every night for all the restaurants they try not to have too much left over so they sell quick in the morning“

“So much bang for a small buck. I ordered a small strawberry cheesecake ice cream. I got a huge serving of ice cream in a nicely sized waffle cone. There were massive chunks of cheesecake in the ice cream which had me whooping and hollering. Kind server gave me a cup, spoon, abd extra napkins. Yesterday my husband and I stopped by at noon to pick up 3 dozens of donuts to take to our cousins viewing in Tj. We told this to the lady helping us, then she said "wait, let me give you something!" And she gave us 1 dozen donuts for FREE! Her kindness just brought joy to my heart & we thank her for her beautiful action. You all have a blessed weekend.“

It was a bit too much hamburger patty like for my preference, just not memorable. Probably could have used some kajmak and Ajvar. Tom's takes me back in time when food was served plentiful, fast and very affordable. I rarely stopped there before because the place looked mostly empty and the location is away from the main food joint hubs. I think this place deserves more local support from patrons before it goes bust or too crazy with pricing. Quiet family type environment.“
