I was visiting my sister in Sacramento, and she recommended Basha Taste of Jerusalem. They start you off with complimentary fresh baked flat bread and olive oil which tasted divine! We ordered the "Mansaf" lamb and chicken dish, and the "Maqluba" upside-down chicken and rice dish. It was absolutely phenomenal! The portions are very generous and we had lots of left overs to-go that tasted just as great the next day. I loved the interior décor and the staff were very friendly. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town to try more dishes that are not common at generic "Middle Eastern / Mediterranean" restaurants.“

“Wanted a gyro, but couldn't locate it on the menu. That was a good thing, because I asked for a recommendation, and the gentleman recommended a chicken shawarma, and it didn't disappoint! Fresh crisp veggies, lots of flavor and the sauce was excellent!“

“We came to the Elk Grove food truck event tonight to hear music. We looked around at all the food truck menus and we decided on Hefty Gyros and boy was I glad we did! It was delicious! The nicest guy helped us, his name was Ali. My husband is in a wheelchair and he was nice to bring our food to us! Little things mean the most!“

“There is a lack of Greek places in sac so I'm excited about this new place. I got the gyro platter. It was seemingly fresh but needed some more flavor. The rice was not good, the salad was meh and the tzatziki didn't taste like anything. I would definitely come back though and maybe try a pita wrap or something.“
“This place has reopened under a different name and very similar offerings. The management is incredibly nice, and the grocery aisles have plenty to choose from. They also have a counter serve restaurant in the back if the store with seating, and fresh baked breads that are delicious. They have freshly roasted rotisserie meats for shawarmas!“
“I have this daydream about opening my own space and it’s usually been about a bar, but walking into this place was like walking into that daydream, but better. I absolutely loved everything from the decorations to the music to the belly dancer to the tea.We had an awesome time celebrating our wedding anniversary with dinner and then coming here to hookah. You could tell there were some regulars and I really liked that.The tea was absolutely spectacular. We got jasmine green tea which is my favorite. It had actual jasmine flower in it and the tea was perfectly brewed. I read someone else’s review of the green tea having hints of cardamom so I’ll definitely need to try that next time. So happy we checked this place out!“
“I've been eating Persian food from Famous Kabob since I was 13 years old. Over 32 years and I love my Joojeh Barg Basmati with Safron. Homemade Nan aka bread. This is Pele's Favorite Extra Sumac. The portions are quite generous my food is always fresh and hot. Chicken perfectly marinated seasoned and cooked tenderly. Not sure how people complain about prices. You can spend $20 on a nasty fast food meal or spend $25 and get delicious Persian Food that is enough for 2-3 meals. If I could I would eat Persian Food from Famous Kabob every day!!!“

“I had a bad first experience with trying out the food here, and this doesn’t go out to the workers there at all either, they were 2 fantastic gentlemen and respectful all the way, the food was phenomenal in taste, house made cilantro sauce amazing, white sauce was fantastic, however my chicken that I received was on the undercooked side and needless to say i found out after eating two since they’re not very big and I was able to just chuck each piece in my mouth, my stomach hurt remainder of day, the lamb was severely overcooked and it took so much effort just to try to eat one, almost like chewing rubber gum, and the Chapli well that was fantastic, seasonings and all, amazingI’m still eating this a 5 stars because the food was in fact very delicious, the undercooked chicken and overcooked lamb was displeasing, but hey I’m taking it as a one off chance I got and I highly highly still recommend people go give this place a try!!!
