The spicy chicken ramen is hands down the best, love all of the bao buns, eggplant is my favorite, but can’t go wrong with crab or pork belly ones either. “We regularly get Asuka delivered to us and enjoy their food very much. We almost always get the Veggie Tan Tan Ramen, the Pork Belly Bowl, the Chicken Karaage and their Boba Smoothies (Taro, Coconut or Mango). Sometimes we get their bao buns. Always packaged well, fresh and delicious! Should try their other items but stick to our favorites.“

“This is my favorite sushi spot in Denver. Across the board, it scores highly in all the metrics I consider to define a good restaurant.

Coming from the coast, I was tentative about the quality of fish to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. The yellowtail is delicious, and the eel in the Rock N Rolla was very well prepared. The richness of the Takoyaki (octopus balls) reminded me of Dutch Bitterballen. I had a Sake martini as well, which was very light and flavorful. The collection of sake is something I plan on diving deeper into in the future, and the entire menu is adventurous and exciting.

The service was impeccable. Food came out promptly, and appetizers, drinks, entree, dessert were all precisely placed and delivered exactly as they were expected to be. Occasionally I feel rushed at restaurants with prompt service, but the food all arrived in a timely manner with proper temperature. The server learned my and my parties names, referring to us by them for the rest of the evening. I got good recommendations from him for the menu, and tried the quail egg (uzura nigiri) and salmon roe (ikura sashimi), which were both delicious. When I mentioned that I was curious to find my places with a similar vibe, he got a napkin and wrote me out a list of his favorite restaurants in the Denver metro. I don’t know if I’ve ever had service at a restaurant that was so professional, efficient, and personal.

The atmosphere was exactly what I was hoping for. Upon entering, you’re presented with a wall of customers’ sake masu, a personalized container from which to drink sake. The soft chatter of conversation gives an organic vibe while natural wooden hues lend the space their tranquility. I sat at the bar, where the chefs prepare the courses in front of you. Trying the various sashimi and nigiri, after watching them be prepared, reminds me of omakase without the steep price point. I was looking for a romantic place to catch up with a friend, and I don’t know if a better place for that exists.

Tokio is a hidden gem, and discovering it felt like striking buried treasure. It’s charm and soul remind me of the hole in the wall restaurants I grew up with in New York, and was sorely missing. I will certainly be coming here more.

“So good!!! Cute little place on Colfax - recommend parking on a side street and walking over due to construction. They have numerous vegetarian ramen dishes. I had the spicy version and it was incredibly delicious and a huge portion. Staff were nice and the service was quick. I shall return!“

Spicy is actually spicy. I wished thinner rice layer on the sushi rolls. The pork curlet was juicy. I mistakenly ordered plate, i wanted curry. The portion sizes were great. Definetly will be back for more.“

“My favorite sushi place west of I25. This place rocks. A little pricey, but what sushi restaurant isn’t? I wouldn’t want to eat at a cheap sushi place anyway. Their ingredients are fresh and flavorful, quick and accurate service. Absolutely love Sawa! Must recommend for sushi lovers.“

“We started coming here about a year ago for their awesome lunch sashimi specials and somehow it quickly turned into an almost-weekly tradition. Whether it’s a quick workday lunch or a full-on family feast, this place never misses.
The fish is always served at exactly the right temperature, which is surprisingly rare and makes such a difference. The spicy edamame is truly one of a kind and a must-order every time.
David takes incredible care of us on every visit, and our kids beg to come along because they feel like total VIPs. Warm, consistent service and truly excellent sushi. We’re so lucky to have this place in our neighborhood!“

“We had intended to try monks Indian, but they were closed so we came here instead. So glad we did. Very accommodating to my service dog and request for a half booth. I had the black dragon and hubby had the Philly. A large sake completed the home run. Everything was absolutely delicious and our server Wendy was a doll keeping drinks refilled and just the right amount of checking in. Would definitely recommend. As an aside we loved the music they were playing.“

“Soooo good! I crave this place weekly! I saw bad reviews about the beef hot pot but I thought it was delicious! The beef is supposed to be cooked prior and dipped in their house sauce. The house sauce is perfect for dipping and all the veggies and add ons in the hot pot were great. I can barely finish it every time because there’s so much so it’s two meals for me. Their Thai hot pot is also one of the my favs and you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the owners are so sweet and accommodating. Highly recommend!“

We ordered a variety of items and they were all delicious - Black Dragon, Korean kimchi fried rice, and Tonkatsu ramen. Even the salad was good and had high quality greens instead of plain lettuce. “We were given this recommendation from a friend who lives in Denver. The food was INCREDIBLE, the drinks were delightful, the food came out quickly, despite them being busy on NYE. The music was loud, the laughter along with the people having a great time, made the perfect downtown Denver experience. The ambience is beautiful, the lighting and decor really set the vibe. We would definitely go back on our next visit.“
