“Had to rub my eyes to make sure that I was in New Haven because this restaurant stepped right out of Manhattan. Each dish we enjoyed was recommended by our sever as was the fabulous wine too. The chef introduced himself before seating and checked with us just as our larger plate arrived. He added very much to the overall ambiance.“

“I live outside of DC and go to a number of Michelin star restaurants… I will flatly say I have had meals that equalled Union League but never one that exceeded it. Couple in their very reasonable pricing, gorgeous building, great staff and this place is extraordinary. I will be visiting my sister in Milford more often in the future :-)!“

“We drove 80 miles to see a concert, and were so happy to sneak into Crepes Choupette moments before closing time. The gentleman working solo welcomed us in and basically gave us personal chef service. As he masterfully crafted our meals, he sang along (perhaps subliminally) to the beautiful French music that seemed to inspire his culinary creations! He was charming, and emulated a love for his job that flowed out as love for his customers. We doubled his tip without batting an eye, and were actually surprised to find out he wasn’t the owner! We loved the Choupette, the Norvegienne, the Piaf, and whatever the other one we had was… all amazing!“

Au Chalet French • $$
24 Whitney Ave, New Haven

“I have been planning my trip to Au Chalet for quite a while and finally managed to make it down for an early dinner. We were not disappointed! We had the fondue natural and each had a different grilled cheese sandwich. I had brie with fig and arugula. Amazing! Best sandwich I've ever had. The fondue was delicious as well. I'd seen a review that complained the portions were small but we couldn't even finish the first basket of bread nor all the potatoes. Ok so if you are looking for nice ambience, more cheese than you can possibly imagine, come eat here! Seriously. It's good.“

“John was the besttttt. On top of being a friendly face, he was personable, funny, and treated us like queens! He saw me and my friend in deep conversation and knew it was time for another glass. That’s a great bartender!!! I’ve always loved this spot for happy hour or dinner, but John made it a 20/10 experience!“
