“Went for a meal to eat after a long day at work. Was looking for a simple, stomach filling place to eat for a decent price. This place was just that. The girl at the front who seems to be the daughter saw me and stood up to take my order. The food was ready in just a few minutes but they still tasted amazing. They're not world-changing, but you get what you pay for. I also had a nice conversation with the owner, making the space really comfortable. I've been to several Chinese takeout restaurants around states (I travel a lot), but this place gave me such a hearty experience I just had to rate it.“

“We stopped in here for takeout while on the way home. Very unassuming from the outside. The staff was friendly and the food was ready in about 10 minutes as promised. Not as expensive for combination plates as sone other places have been recently.Overall the food was good. The dumplings were amazing. I would go back just for them. I also liked how the chicken was cut into smaller pieces for the General Tso. It allows for more of the sauce to seep into the chicken. Will definitely be getting food here again.“

“Moon Star is by far the best Chinese takeout in the Brookfield/Danbury area. Please follow @fairfieldfooddude
Immediately upon entering you will notice the typical faded backlit menu seen in so many New York spots we love and enjoy. As you walk by the fish tank you are greeted with some of the most friendly service you will ever get. All the food here is prepared fresh, never frozen, and always has the perfect crisp to juiciness ratio.
Compared to other Chinese spots in the area this place is not only better service and better quality, but better prices as well. Our recent order was over ten items and it was still under 80 bucks. Unfortunately they do not deliver but are always open for takeout. Trust me. Moon Star is worth the trip!“

“Food is excellent! Used to be an Oriental Gourmet in Southbury customer but switched because the quality and taste of their food degraded so much within the last year or so and never got better. Plus errors with take out orders were the last straw. Fortune House is definitely worth the trip from Southbury to Southford! Highly recommend this restaurant!“

“I'm really picky about Chinese food. These guys are hands down the best in the area. I've tried other local restaurants and been throughly disappointed. I've always been pleased with what they serve and their service. Shout out to their dumplings in particular, not too doughy, not too greasy.. Just perfect!“

“I ordered the pork fried rice and boneless pork ribs and they were both very good, only waited about 10 minutes for them to make my order, the service was great and polite, place was very clean with a couple of tables for anyone who wanted to eat in.“

“My husband and I LOVE this place! We have been coming here for over 8 years now and it is the best Chinese in the area by far!The original owner was a very nice man, always remembered his customers by name and was a staple of the restaurant. When he unfortunately passed, his family took over and they are just as wonderful. I come here from New York (I travel between the tri-state for work frequently), and he always makes me feel welcome when I return. It can be a few months before he sees me again, but he remembers not only me, but my go-to order as well. The food is just as great as the people! Closest thing to NYC Chinese food I have found outside of NYC.“

“Tldr;
This is my go to Chinese takeout restaurant in town. I have a very strong loyalty to this establishment. The owners are very nice, and the food quality is consistent. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for some takeout. You can also expect your food to be done very quickly.
I have been going to this place for takeout for roughly a decade. I really like this place. The food isn't necessarily the best--in the sense of a fine Chinese restaurant--but for takeout I think its quality is VERY good. I do not mean this as something bad against this restaurant, it's just that a takeout restaurant has different priorities, expectations, and pricing requirements that a "non-takeout" restaurant does not have.
I think the best bang for your buck are the dinner combinations. They are great dinner meals, and depending on the person could even be lunch for the next day! I love that fact. If you do like individual orders--in the sense of an order of rice, and noodles, etc.--they have you covered as well. There are a lot of options, more so than the dinner combinations. Variety is the spice of life, you just have to pay a bit more since you are buying containers; which may not be a problem for you!
One of my favorite things about this place are the people. The owners are great. My main interaction is the woman. She is very kind, though you have to be patient as her English is difficult to understand at times: not all of the time. It has certainly gotten much better over the years. I also love that the restaurant is a family affair. Over the many years I have gone here, I've been privileged to see her children grow up and help her at the counter with customers. I have always loved it. Though, I have seen less of her children now, but I guess they got old enough to need to focus on other endeavors. I wish them the best.
This restaurant also supports digital ordering. You can use the qMenu app to send in an order. It's very convenient, and I highly recommend it.
Like most things in Woodbury, and CT to a greater degree, delivery is not an option unless you use some third-party like door dash or Uber eats. But, this place is in the center of town, so the drive there is quick and easy.
To conclude, I love this place; and I plan on continuing to be a customer until the day I ever leave this town. Until that day, I will continue to buy food from here. The food is very good, and the service is great. I highly recommend this place to any residents of Woodbury looking for some great Chinese takeout!“

“Wow, this is the best Chinese food I have found in the area. Food was hot and fresh and they use quality ingredients. The shrimp stir fried with vegetables in kung pao sauce were really fresh and perfectly cooked and the vegetables were still crispy. The crunchy water chestnuts were a nice touch. They don't use heavy gloopy sauces. The hot and sour soup was also a pleasant surprise. It was perfectly balanced with vinegar and some heat from chilis and had lots of fresh mushrooms and shredded bamboo shoots. Most of their business seems to be take-out. Don't be dissuaded by the appearances from the outside. We tried four different dishes and they were all hits. I will definitely be back!“

“West of town locale on state route 25 (main street), the main north south route through the upper Stepney section of town. Inside is spacious and good to sit down and eat as a lot of Chinese restaurants are not, restroom also available. This is a neighborhood staple for Chinese food. They also deliver if you want it delivered.“

“We recently moved to New Fairfield from Queens, NY - so appreciate good Chinese/Japanese/Korean food. We've tried and been disappointed by all the Chinese restaurants north of I-84, so decided to venture further afield and ordered takeout from Beijing Chinese to bring with us to an event held at the Charter Oak Brewery (which doesn't serve food - so encourages patrons to bring their own). Tough to see/find off White St, Beijing is buried in a nondescript food, strip mall perpendicular to White St - also containing a pizza joint, a sandwich deli and Jamaican j*** joint. Beijing was buzzing with patrons awaiting their takeout; the other 3 establishments were dead - so others must also like Beijing's food. Items such as egg rolls, wontons & dumplings most restaurants buy frozen from whole sellers and so taste uniformly Meh! But the 3 freshly prepared dishes we ordered were very good: Beef Chow Fun, General Tso's Chicken. Hot & Spicy Chicken - about as good as any Queens neighborhood Cantonese takeout, though not up to Flushing Standards. This restaurant is strictly takeout; you wait on the sidewalk and the the transaction takes place thru a window (Good for Covid-19 precautions). We will make the schlep and further explore their menu!“

“We all know the difference between 'clean Chinese food' and 'dirty Chinese'.. the dirtier the better. (In a Very Sanitary way) This is dirty Chinese. Super saucy, full of flavor, very friendly staff. Everything is made to order, so any personal preference in regards to your order are fully recognized and accommodated. I think the only downfall is there beverage selection. Otherwise this is the only Chinese food place that we order from, and there are at least five other options in the area. Ming Garden is definitely one of the best“

“We have been coming here for years since their daughter was a little girl. She used to sit at a table and do her homework while her hard working parents worked. The food is great, they are very efficient and we highly recommend this take-out place.“
