This will be my new go to for Chinese food without a doubt.“

“Food is excellent! Used to be an Oriental Gourmet in Southbury customer but switched because the quality and taste of their food degraded so much within the last year or so and never got better. Plus errors with take out orders were the last straw. Fortune House is definitely worth the trip from Southbury to Southford! Highly recommend this restaurant!“

“We’ve been ordering from here for the past few months, and it’s become our go-to place for Chinese takeout. We almost always get the General Tso’s Chicken and the Chicken Lo Mein, and ask them to make both dishes spicy. They always get it just right. The food is flavorful, fresh, and consistently delicious every time. The General Tso’s Chicken has a great balance of crispy, sweet, and spicy, and the Chicken Lo Mein is always cooked perfectly. It’s hard to find a takeout place that’s this consistent, and we’ve had a great experience every time we’ve ordered. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for really good Chinese food!“

“I was so happy I decided to try this spot! I really enjoyed my chicken with broccoli Combination platter. It came with pork fried rice and an egg roll. The rice was delicious. The chicken was tender and moist. The broccoli was cooked to the perfect texture. I usually have to add soy sauce to my rice. I didn’t have to add anything. This food was bursting with flavor. I also had the wonton soup. It was good the crispy noodles that come with it we’re good This made me want to try different things Next time I go oh yes, there will be a next time.

“this food is the bomb.com. its well seasoned nothing i got was nasty. this is some of the best rice ive had from a chinese joint. the only thing is the egg roll might have a little extra oil because 1 of mines had a lot of oil but it was the only one like that. but yeah even the soup is good and they are very nice which i never thought i would care about but the are actually have a pleasant energy. no delivery, and cash only. but worth it imo.“

“The shrimp used to be sizable, but lately, they have changed to regular sized shrimp. They're still very tasty but there are only four in a meal. A bit disappointing. “My husband and I used to go to this place ALL THE TIME OVER FOURTEEN years ago for lunch when we lived in Connecticut. The food was always amazing. It was always so consistent so we stayed coming back. And the staff was always friendly and profesional.
Needless to say when we flew back to Connecticut last week, we had to stop by here.
To my Pleasant surprise the place had not changed a bit. They did upgrades they painted it looked beautiful. But it was still the same place that we used to go to. “Perfect choice! Ordered lunch shrimp with broccoli with curry sauce. It came with fried rice. Looked and tasted great! Loved the no MSG comments, and that soup, soda, or egg rolls were optional add-ons and not automatic. Swift friendly service, and sauces and utensils were easily available. Perfect size to eat while I waited for an order at Walmart pickup across the street.“

“After seeing a movie down the street, my family and I came to Oriental Gourmet for dinner. There was plenty of seating and the restaurant had a classic, retro vibe. We were impressed that they had so many different Asian cuisines to choose from! For our first visit we stuck primarily to Chinese food, but it’s good to know they have sushi too. Almost every dish was good, but my mom didn’t really love her Mongolian beef and said it had a weird grittiness to it. Our server was attentive and they refilled our waters often. Not a bad spot!“

“I have to say of all the places I’ve had sweet n sour chicken this one had the best sauce. It’s thick enough to not pour off the chicken when either dipped or poured on top of. It actually sticks to the chicken. However it’s been hit or miss with the chicken in the same meal. Sometimes it’s good and sometimes way over cooked. The white rice isn’t pasty like little chopsticks is. It’s decent in comparison. They also have good donuts… I know not really gonna go to a Chinese food place for the donuts but… still a nice sweet treat.“

“My fave Chinese takeout spot in West Haven! I've ordered from Lucky Kitchen several times, and the food is delicious every time. The prices are unbeatable- tons of lunch specials for under $10. The man at the counter is always super friendly, too. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great takeout place.

“I’ve been a regular customer since the restaurant was in its original location on CT 111. The food is great and unlike most other Chinese restaurants the portions haven’t decreased, price although higher than before but not significantly. If you order online you can use a credit card if you wait until you get your order in person you will need cash. I travel 45 minutes to get my Chinese food from them because they are that good!“

“Usually this is my go-to place for Chinese takeout. I’ve always found their food flavorful and reasonably priced. Last night I ordered vegetable chow mein, expecting noodles (as pictured in my Google search). Mein literally means noodles. So I was surprised and disappointed when I received this bowl of bland, limp vegetables, and no noodles at all. When I called the restaurant they told me that chow mein doesn’t have noodles; if I wanted noodles I should have ordered lo mein. I did some research and apparently this is a regional thing, though not - after surveying my other east coast friends - all that widespread. Anyway, I was disappointed and I’m thinking of taking my business somewhere else. I did give four stars because of past experiences, but I wanted to give a heads up to anyone looking for noodles in their noodles dish.“

“My family ordered here all the time years ago and they have always had deliciously reliable food on the cheaper side. Went back tonight to get some cheap food late at night and was not disappointed. Got our food (chicken fried rice, beef and broccoli, egg drop soup, half chicken, and fried scallops) in 15 minutes. Nothing fancy but super tasty and containers absolutely stuff.

A lot of the one-star reviews on google seem to feature non-Chinese food from restaurant named CHINA SEA, kinda weird. Great spot worth more than 3.4 stars“
