“Did not plan to eat at Chef Jiang's but I'm so glad we did! Personally, my favorite dine-in Chinese restaurant. The hot pot was absolutely delicious. Great vegan options for me and meat options for my husband. Will definitely be back“
“I started frequenting this place in 2000 when I was an undergrad down the street. 23 years later, it is still my favorite Chineese food in the state. Chicken is always all white meat and always great. Just wish they opened earlier in the day.“
“Will hi to all my husband used to work in front of this restaurant and he loves ❤️ this place my husband name Pete Loco ? as a friend so he knows who we are when we order on the phone and say Loco ? his food is the best in newhaven and his chicken wings are the bomb ty. Loco for being a good ? cooker God bless“
“Came here for a friends birthday and he was looking for an elevated Chinese restaurant - New Haven’s Taste of China fit the bill. We started off with delicious jasmine tea. We tried and assortment of dumplings but my favorite were the vegetable ones. For our main course we shared the tea smoked duck, the kung pao chicken, and the mongolian beef. Overall they were pretty good but they didn’t wow me. If someone was looking for Chinese in the New Haven area I would throw New Haven’s Taste of China in the mix.“
“I live and work in the area. Their food is ALWAYS EXCELLENT. They are warm and friendly. Food is fresh and hot. I love this place and the family that runs it. I would give them 100 stars if I could. I will not go anywhere else. Amiga, you're awesome!Sandy“
“Best Chinese food around! I travel an hour to eat here. It's like the Chinese food from back in the days, super hard to find. Everything is so good and flavorful. Even the egg rolls are so perfectly crispy and flavorful. I highly recommend.“
“It's a cozy little place with friendly service and fantastic food. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is that there is no vegan protein offered (other than edamame). They couldn't throw some tofu in the veggie dishes? But otherwise this is comfort food for the soul. Take a look at these bok choy and scallion dishes I had yesterday:“
“We love our Chinese food! I will say I agree with other reviews about the rude woman taking orders, but we will deal with that for his delectable food. Wah Chun was a gift in our mailbox from heaven. Some of the specials (please please please put coconut shrimp back on the menu!!) Were no longer available, but what was absolutely amazing. Sweet and Sour Chicken was obviously fried right before delivery. Hot & crispy. Hunan specials, to die for, General Tso, hot, fresh, and delishious. Boneless spareribs were hot, fresh & tender. Combination plates were great & gave kids two choices & an egg roll. We obviously spent close to 100 dollars, but it was so worth saving up to get it. Call restaurant directly and order delivery from their delivery. Driver is wonderful, really fast & kind. We can't wait to try other things. All I haven't said is " Yum"“
“The food here is GOOD. The Asian food scene is sadly lacking in New Haven, and buns n dumplings helps fill the dumpling-shaped hole in my tummy a little.I ordered take out with 2 friends and among the 3 of us, we ordered just enough food to finish everything and be stuffed. It took about 30 minutes for all the food to be prepared for us to pick up. The Shanghai soup dumplings were good in flavor, but unfortunately soup-less. They may have been prepared earlier than the other items in our order and while sitting in the container, the soup soaked into the wrappers. Similarly, the scallion pancakes were mildly warm and quite soggy/not crispy or flaky. It's likely they were made earlier too and sat in the container while everything else was prepared. The lotus leaf sticky rice, shumai, and fried dumplings were a HIT; we will definitely be ordering those again next time. The peanut noodles were okay. We had a lot of noodles for not a lot of sauce, so a lot of the noodles (especially at the bottom) were quite plain. I did really appreciate that there were actual peanuts in the dish and not just peanut sauce alone! The place is a tiny hole in the wall with one or two small tables at the front of the restaurant. I can't really see anyone dining in here, so I imagine it's mostly take out. Unfortunately, this does mean a lot of foods aren't eaten as soon as they are prepared--possibly leading to soupless soup dumplings and soggy scallion pancakes. 4/5 for the food; will definitely order from here again!“
“I just want to say the staff there is amazing. The guy with the glasses and I think he may have braids was excellent he smiled and was very respectful and understanding about my preference They didn’t have what I ordered but he recommended something different but similar and it was amazing. Keep up the good work Junzi staff. The best photo I could get my apologies don’t want to seem creepy with the picture these are the staff that was here.“
“Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. This is your classic American Chinese spot. No frills but the food was on point and the service was quick. I had the orange chicken and it was delicious. Prices are great. Don’t be scared off by the bad reviews.“
“There is always a crowd flowing with takeout bags from this location. Today after needing a quick afternoon pick me up, we decided on grabbing some vegetable lo mein. The service was friendly and efficient. It is definitely geared to being a takeout as the decor is minimal and there are only two small tables. The food was fresh and the lo mein was very good.“
“Excellent food. Tastes like it's made with a lot of care and love. My daughter moved her boba. Said it might have been the best she'd ever had. Gyoza was very good. Ramen was good, not quite what we were expecting though. Golden hot was the best.“
