“China Garden is my go-to spot for Chinese takeout in Branford! The food is delicious and the portions are huge! As a vegetarian, I love the availability of tofu as a protein option. General Tso’s tofu is my absolute favorite. The staff are very kind and warm too.“

“Amazing place!!

Went to this place for the first time with my friends, and were originally drawn to the interior decorating. If you look closely, the lights are in the shapes of dumpling steam boxes!! Dumplings are their specialty, and the restaurant even features a look-and-see glass box called the “Bao Lab”, where you can watch, interact with the cooks, and even record the process!!

I ordered the crab rangoons and the brisket ramen, SO DELICIOUS. We also ordered the pork and crab dumplings to share, and you get a box of 6 for $13, which is pretty reasonable! Great staff, very attentive and personable. Our servers were Patrick and Jodie, and they took very good care of us!!

The only complaint I can muster is that the soup was a little cold, but that’s only because they wanted to ensure our food all came out at once!

Great place for a first-try or if you want to try something new, with delicious food, great servers, and a fantastic atmosphere.

“So this amazing place was recommended by a friend from Madison and it did not disappoint! Authentic Szechuan in a beautiful room with high ceilings and soothing decor and music. One dish was better than the last and you cannot get this quality anywhere locally as far as I've been to. Go for yourselves and enjoy. Somehow we received cheesecake and chocolate ganache cake for dessert complements of the place! Even better!😂“

“this food is the bomb.com. its well seasoned nothing i got was nasty. this is some of the best rice ive had from a chinese joint. the only thing is the egg roll might have a little extra oil because 1 of mines had a lot of oil but it was the only one like that. but yeah even the soup is good and they are very nice which i never thought i would care about but the are actually have a pleasant energy. no delivery, and cash only. but worth it imo.“

“Food was wonderful and fresh! Staff were so friendly and kind. We have been looking for a new local place for a while and are so happy we found New Star. My husband isn't a huge fan of Chinese food but even he loved it! We got Rangoons, chicken fingers (amazing!!!), steamed dumplings (delicious), honey chicken combo, kung po combo, chicken wings, steamed broccoli, and egg and spring rolls (for four adults) - serving sizes are enormous and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! Everything tasted very high quality 👌👌however, my one criticism would be that each dish had a little bit too much of one quality- the soup noodle was a little bit too sour and takes getting used to, the other noodle was a bit dry, and the cucumbers were very refreshing but a bit too sweet for me. I would still highly recommend all of these dishes though !!“

I highly recommend the spare ribs here. My child always says that the ribs from this restaurant are the best they’ve ever had, and I completely agree. The fried rice and noodles are also excellent—everything we’ve tried has been consistently delicious.
What really made me happy was the service. The woman who takes orders remembered me, and when I made a mistake with my online order, she called to confirm the details. That personal touch truly meant a lot to me and made the experience even better.
We’ll be returning to Korea soon, and I will truly miss this place. I always recommend it to my friends whenever I can.“

They’re hot and Sour soup is the best I’ve had in the area hands-down however it is very spicy so if you don’t want it spicy, ask them to alter it. “My fave Chinese takeout spot in West Haven! I've ordered from Lucky Kitchen several times, and the food is delicious every time. The prices are unbeatable- tons of lunch specials for under $10. The man at the counter is always super friendly, too. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great takeout place.

“The food was excellent. My wife and I ordered soup dumplings, skewers, fried rice and the claypot tofu.

The skewers were excellent. The lamb had a good level of spice and cuts had a generous mix of rendered fat.

Soup dumplings have been trending lately but this place does a great job— skin is springy, broth inside very rich, and does not taste super doughy like a lot of dumplings in the area.

The clay pot, man, it brought me back to my childhood. It heavily reminded me of what my grandmother used to make me as a kid.

The location is unfortunately in an urban area where there’s heavy criminal activity but nevertheless, criminals have to eat too lol. Overall very satisfied and the food was consistent with what to expect from Chinese take out. We got Pork egg food young, Chicken w/broccoli, Chicken wings and Crab rangoons. We liked the rangoons triangle shaped vs. other restaurants. Had no issues with our order. Place was clean from everything I saw. We would go back. “I have been ordering from this restaurant for probably about 15 to 20 years and right now I’m not driving. I ordered General tso tofu as well as a large chicken and rice soup.

For years, Foliage had been my go to spot for delicious Chinese takeout. Their food is always fresh and well prepared as well as easy and understanding communication provided by staff.

It’s shocking why Foliage has bad reviews because everytime I order, the food is clearly fresh and never over or undercooked compared to other Chinese restaurants in New Haven or east haven.

If you want great Chinese food at great cost and timely delivery for either yourself or the whole family, Foliage is your best choice!“

“My family ordered here all the time years ago and they have always had deliciously reliable food on the cheaper side. Went back tonight to get some cheap food late at night and was not disappointed. Got our food (chicken fried rice, beef and broccoli, egg drop soup, half chicken, and fried scallops) in 15 minutes. Nothing fancy but super tasty and containers absolutely stuff.

A lot of the one-star reviews on google seem to feature non-Chinese food from restaurant named CHINA SEA, kinda weird. Great spot worth more than 3.4 stars“
