“Love it!! We came across this restaurant while walking in the mall yesterday and so glad we tried it out. Order the roast pork hot pot and chicken and vegetables with black bean sauce. Food is excellent and service is second to none. Even their regulars who eats there were friendly! The food is and the waiter came around to make sure the food was okay and not too salty. Definitely the best Chinese restaurants in Connecticut.“
“Some of the best Szechwan Chinese food is tucked into a small nook on Washington Street in Norwalk. Don’t expect great ambiance or fancy service. What you will get is absolutely fantastic Szechwan Chinese food. I recently dined in for lunch and left incredibly impressed with the food. You have your choice of all the traditional appetizers, but I encourage you to include an order of spring rolls, which are wrapped in a delicate flash fried paper-thin dough. Delish! For main dishes, my guest and I shared the Dan Dan Noodles and Dry Fry Beef. You have the option of including your desired level of heat – and I caution you to be careful. I appreciate a great hot dish, but chose “medium” heat – and it was PLENTY hot (I’m glad I didn’t go hotter). The Dan Dan Noodles were absolutely delicious – I took leftover home, kept thinking about them, and then ate the leftover noodles for dinner – and they were just as delicious. The Dry Fry Beef is flash fried to a perfect crisp and served with sticky rice, a perfect pair. This will be my new Chinese take-out favorite.“
“First time here tonight …. I live a 10 min block away. Had seen some bad reviews. However they were old reviews. I don’t write reviews but I couldn’t be more happy. Service was quick. Got a general tsao combo with white rice. The woman that took my order was friendly. The gentleman that gave me my order all smiles super friendly offering plenty of sauces and anything needed. To top it off my meal was the best general tsao I have had in at least a year. I always ignored this spot due to old bad reviews but I will be supporting them now. Legit the male and female working just that alone so friendly and everything. I’m an idiot for not coming here sooner. Solid 4 outa 5. If they had scallion pancakes. A 5 lol.“
“Some of the Chinese food I've ever had. You wouldn't expect the best Chinese food to be in Westport but Village Gourmet is so special - better than anywhere I have tried in NYCI don't understand the few negative reviews here I have been going here for close to 20 years hahaha. Super consistent, always delicious. I recommend pork fried dumplings, general tso's, chick broc, fried rice, sesame noodles.“
“We love Shanghai Gourmet! Recently, we did two very large orders. One for a Christmas get-together and the following weekend for a New Year's Eve get-together. Both orders were ready for pickup on time and well packed with nothing missing. During the year, it is THE place for us when we want to order out and has been for many years. It’s all good, but they do an especially fantastic Singapore Mei Fun (my favorite).“
“Food was pretty good. ! Closest taste I’ve received when comparing to NY Chinese takeout! My suggestions.., General Tso could be fried a little more crispier. It was not as well as I would’ve preferred but tasty and the chicken & broccoli could’ve had a little more flavor. I will definitely try it again!!! And the service was polite!!“
“This cute little hole in the wall is a great restaurant! Hands down one of the best Ramen we've had so far in Norwalk, CT...and the service is excellent. We'll definitely look forward to coming back and trying other things on the menu.“
