The atmosphere was low-lit, warm, bustling, with high ceilings and beautiful décor that makes the Velvet Mill such a standout setting. My pops and I stopped first at Stonington Point, the American flag waving strong over the water. He looked at it and said, “I did my 20.” That line hit deep. From there, we made our way to Breakwater, a beautiful spot right on the harbor. The second we stepped inside, we were greeted by that warm coastal glow thru bright windows, with beautiful waterfront views, and a calm, classy energy. 💣 And then came one of those full-circle moments life throws at you sometimes… Our server was Trina, someone I worked with almost 30 years ago at Mohegan Sun Casino. Seeing her again made the day even more special. She was absolutely wonderful, kind, quick, and professional. It was everything you could expect. Service was top-notch. 💣 Now let’s talk about that food 👇🏾 1️⃣ Crispy Fried Calamari- $17.50 💣 Light, crispy, and perfectly fried. We both said bomb 3️⃣ Seafood Pasta- $34.50 💣 This one was loaded: four big scallops, three shrimp, crab meat and two thick lobster pieces all swimming in a creamy garlic Parmesan sauce with a little sweetness from the julienne veggies. Here’s how it all went down: 1️⃣ Wood-Fired Wings (Buffalo) - $15.95 BOMB! 💣 Eight perfectly wood-fired wings- crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with buffalo sauce that hits just right. The blue cheese dressing deserves its own shoutout 💣😎 2️⃣ Oma’s Real Meatball Sandwich- $17.50 BOMB! 💣 These wood-roasted, hand-rolled meatballs were full of flavor and smothered in rich pomodoro sauce, tucked inside toasted rustic bread with melted provolone and parmesan. “My husband and I ate at your establishment last night to celebrate our anniversary and my birthday which fall in the same day,while the restaurant is beautiful and the food was superb, my husbands steak came out virtually raw instead so we had to send it back, who on earth would take a $75 dry aged steak that was cut off the bone and cut through the center throw not only the steak but the bone back in the grill and have the nerve ti send it back out ti a customer? The manager was very apologetic and made them cook him another steak but my huge issue is, we went out ti dine together and celebrate milestones, I had to eat alone while he waited and by the time his steak came out the remainder of the sides were stone cold, I feel like at the least something from that meal should have at least been deducted from our almost $200 bill!
