If you want to sip margaritas out of a fish bowl and guacamole made table side then Puerto Vallarta and Azteca might be for you. If you want fast food from chain restaurants then there’s Chipotle and Moe’s. But if you’re looking for the best authentic Mexican fare the Berlin Turnpike has to offer, look no further the Salsa 4 Taqueria! It’s a hole in wall that you would drive by if you weren’t looking for it. I had beef empanadas, a trio of tacos, el pastor, pork belly, and deep fried shrimp. I’ve never been to Mexico but I imagine this is what I would get on the streets there. Be prepared to wait for your food. Empanadas are made to order and the corn taco shells are pressed and cooked to order with a choice of soft or crunchy! The el pastor was very flavorful, pork belly with a nice char on the outside melts in your mouth, the batter fried shrimp were large and delicious, shredded beef in the empanadas was braised to perfection! Sorry for the lack of pictures, I dug in before it crossed my mind. Yes, it’s that good!“

“My current top hidden gem for amazing and authentic Mexican food. Hidden in La plaza del Mercado, this spot has the most amazing tripe soup, where the tripe was properly cleaned, no funky taste/smell, cooked perfectly tender. Great caldo de res as well, the meat was tender and had a strong beef flavor, soup was light and refreshing and the veggies provided a nice natural sweetness and the squash was incredible inside.
