10 Best Craft Breweries near Stratford

“This review is a part of my quest of visiting all CT breweries. I tried beers from both Two Roads and Area Two before, but this was my first visit to the brewery.

The brewery occupies its own gorgeously looking building. It seems it was designed from ground up with consumers in mind. When you enter the brewery, you pass a huge barrel-aging area to give you a glimpse of what comes next. There are multiple indoor seating options including a couch, bar tables and a solitude seating in the barrel-aging area. The star of the show is the outdoor seating though, as the brewery has multi-leveled patio. The lower level patio is kid-friendly, while the rooftop is adults-only. Area 2 has its own food menu. I tried their fries and pizza during my stay and everything was delicious.

There are a lot of beers available to order - both on-tap and bottle pours. You can order a flight of 5 to try as many beers as you can. For this review I tried 15 beers, which covers all Area 2 exclusives (8 beers) and a bunch of Two Roads' beers. My experience was extraordinary. Being an experimental brewery, means that they try new recipes that might end up not being good. But also they craft new and memorable tastes during this process. I enjoyed almost all the beers I had, especially because I prefer barrel-aged beers and they had many to select from. A special shoutout goes to Bourbon Barrel Aged Cherry Quad (Belgian Quadrupel) and Brett Noir 2020 (Brett beer), both were pretty unique in their styles with the latter being the only Brett beer I have seen so far in my craft beer journey.

This place is an absolute must to visit if you like craft beer scene. It totally deserves a dedicated trip just to experience it. I'll definitely be back.“

“This place is the real deal. Great selection AND variety of beers on tap and in cans (not just all IPAs)! The Blackberry Bramble sour is tart, refreshing, and not too sour. Check out the rotating and seasonal selections of pilsners, lagers, ales, stouts, fest beers, and more. Brewmaster Pete is talented (award-winning!) and really knows his stuff. The Brew Lab has friendly and attentive staff, is in a great location (right off Fairfield Ave on the Fairfield/Black Rock line), and offers cool vibes. :-)“

“Beer is great. Parking sucks so does location. On line menu says they have food ... They don't. You can get pizza or a pretzel. I have to say the pizza wad better than expected. The place looks like a zombie fall out shelter but overall had a great time.“

“Brewport Brewing Company will most definitely see me again as the pizza was so delicious and the beer very good. I was with maybe 12 others so I managed to see quite a selection of pizzas, and taste some also. Our server Steve could not accommodate us anymore, he was very caring, made you want to come back to Brewport. I even met the owner and his son, they too were very welcoming. The thin crust, even a little dark made for great toppings, will see you again. Thank you for the lovely ambience also!“
